Bookmark this site (or this post)! You don't need to know how to read Japanese -- the relevant links are in English.

Scroll down to either of the SmileDownloader Version 1.16 links (the first is the EXE file on its own, the second is a ZIP of the EXE), click and download. (Extract if you have to, then) Run the EXE to get an installation wizard.

again, it doesnt' matter if you can read japanese or not (and it doesn't matter if the japanese characters even display properly!), use your intuition about what to do (look for N on the buttons, that stands for Next). It's a really quick install and should be pretty straightforward to figure out.

Open up SmileDownloader, and when you want to download a file, go to the File (F) menu, and select the URL item (first one, also denoted by (N) ). Paste the URL of choice and hit ok/Enter; save the file on your hard drive -- it will save as an FLV file. Ta-da~

well I sorta posted this in the slayer thread but in an effort to be more proactive I have a better way to download FLV videos for you guys... For this you will need firefox.

Okay first Go install Greasemonkey
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/748
you'll have to restart firefox when its done but after that the rest is easy. Greasemonkey is a scripting plugin that lets people make scripts to edit webpages.. Two amazing useful scripts are in existence to easily download videos from youtube and from Nico Video.

The Youtube script is at...

go there, click the install script link. It should pop up asking if you would like to install this... say yes... now when you got to youtube videos there should be a little link below them saying click to download video. You will have to rename them and add the .flv extension to open them but other than that you are set. Also works in windows and Mac yay.

Click the link that says nicovideon.user.js this once again you'll get a pop up asking you if you want to install say yes. Of course most YouTube combo vids are impressive, but these ones were absolutely ridiculously impressive, and I remember there was something in the name of the series that even hinted at that. (I could have sworn it was "excessive," like, "Excessive Potemkin combo", "Excessive Slayer combo", etc., but those aren't turning up anything.) The Potemkin one had about three or four Potemkin Busters in the same combo on several occasions (using PB, FB PB, and HPB at various points.) The most noteworthy thing I remember is that the Slayer one opened up with a 100% damage combo vs. Millia, flat-out killing her in like five or six seconds. The first thing in the video was she jumped toward him, he intercepted with Direct-Hit Dandy (2 hits) --> Direct-Hit Dandy (2 hits) (Millia is dizzy now) --> Pilebunker for the kill before she could ever touch the ground again.

Oh, and the Zappa one (and I think the Robo-Ky one but I could be wrong) had some infinites, and the video handled them by just speeding up the feed until they were zipping around at hyperspeed, then slowing it down again just before hit 300 or or so when they finally finished (with the kill or whatever.)

Please, someone tell me what I'm talking about and where they are again, because I need to show the Potemkin one to a friend of mine who plays him.

unfortunately, i think all of the those videos were on flimzee00's account, which has been suspended/removed. he recently uploaded the Bridget one on his new account, but the others don't seem to be up anywhere.

i have the originals, though, so if you'd like, i can upload them for you. your call.

(also, i don't understand why they were called "outstanding combos": in the original filebank folder where they were stored, they were labelled under the name "Phantasm Infinity".)

Usually known under "Outstanding X combos", they are also availible on bigoooooooooh's account (although in Japanese). I got these stored in favorites, the rest should be quite easy to find somewhere in the "Related videos" sections:

Quick question that I guess sort of belongs in here. When people make combo vids do most of them use a programable controller? I ask because I often see things that just can't be done such as in that Seventeen movie the way the note instantly drops straight down.

it's more than likely, especially if you see them use the Playback function, but unless someone actually knows the combo vid maker, you can never know for sure.

If you want to be more specific, you have to put the character's name in brackets beside the player's name as well, so something like　"つばさ(アクセル）" should do the trick.

Sometimes happens to me when trying to d/l from A-cho. Either pause the d/l and try again later or restart it.

Hey, I used to have #r installed on my computer but lost it in a hard drive crash. I just reinstalled it yesterday, and I found that I have the same problem with the music that I used to. When stages are loading, it plays the correct music, and then switches back to the character select music for a few seconds. Then when the stage actually loads, it plays the stage music for a bit and then cycles back to the loading music. This is really annoying since I like the GGXX music a lot, and this problem seems to have appeared out of nowhere back when I originally had the game installed.

Also, the title screen looks weird, with the logo greyed out. Could that be related? My sound card is an onboard one that isn't too great, but I'm using a vanilla 6800 for video so I don't think that's the problem. Has anyone else ran into these issues before? I'm thinking maybe the game files have been corrupted somehow...

can anyone recommend a good way to convert .vob files to avi or mpeg or wmv? any good programs that can do this?

i managed to salvage an old dvd of gg matches but now its only in .vob form. i tried windows movie maker but it seems to only reconise the first chapter of the dvd file and not all the chapters in the file.

my goal is to put them on youtube, they will actually take .vob files but not ones over 1Gig so i need to edit them somehow

since i don't have any VOB files on hand to test it out, i can't comment on the reliability of what i'm about to say... but if you google "compressing VOB files", one of the first hits should give you a list of free software that claims to compress/convert VOB files. maybe you can try that and see how it goes.

Yeah it worked, I tried Flashget in FF, but realized it only works with IE that download with flashget menu option. Then it just played normally. Get the K-Lite Codec pack if you're having trouble watching.
