Hello there everybody, its time for some swedish GuiltyGear-action! Now as good as all the videos from last weekends are converted and done, we thought that we´d share them with you "zilly americanz" etc. We´ll probably only upload the playoffs... but you´ll never know!
http://www.guiltygear.se - for reports etc.
SEASON 2 ROUND 1
First off, the stockholm-ranbat:
Semi: Xzi(ja) vs CheeseAbuser(ed)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=lMpYrWPdsEk
Semi: Cyrox(ve) vs Cr0v(sl)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=NW560UDQZro
Bronze: Cr0v(sl): vs CheeseAbuser(ed)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=xXzQHYTSeSA
Final: Xzi(ja) vs Cyrox(ve)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=7HAjWDx0mrs
And now for some Lund-action! Now most of us from the top4 of lund have begun our transition towards playing with stock (Yonasu being the exception) so keep that in mind (blablabla). But we´ll get to beastin´ excecution . Almost there! :)
Semi: Shinjin:BA: vs Yonasu:SL:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLGj3SihUw4
Semi: Nehle:DI: vs Caer:TE:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6Y-cGajBWk
Bronze: Nehle:DI: vs Yonasu:SL:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=waTlx8PRJO0
Final: Shinjin:BA: vs Caer:TE:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVRvh2Gl2KY
With that being said, hope you enjoyed. Next ranbat will be this Sunday. This time we´ll probably be quicker with the vids (at least lund). Though Nehle wont be able to attend, cause he is in China being Chinese with the Chinese. :psyduck:

Bah, next time I won't be missing out on all the huge amounts of damage that's just lying around. As they say, next time, Gadget!
Feels good to be starting up with this again. Also feels pretty good with the sticking, even though it's hell of an embarassament when I miss a quartercircle-input :v:

Hey guys, awesome job on the videos by the way! I just wanted to tell you there are several RANBAT events going on in the `Event Announcements` forum. If you guys wanted to move this event there you could draw a larger crowd (if that's what you're aiming for). Also, where's the results >.> Who's on top hehee?

Why would I get mad? I think everybody in Europe sucks after watching B3C-vids etc.
Well, I just kinda did like we did last season and posted the vids in a thread here in the guilty-pleasures part of the forum. But I guess if the admin felt like it they could move it. But we will just post the vids and stuff like that in this thread so.

Ranbats go in the Event Announcements forum if you're ANNOUNCING AN EVENT, as opposed to posting GUILTY GEAR-RELATED VIDEOS.

omg shinjin <3
watching videos now
ahhh you need to confirm your hits more, and combo corner throw into tatami j.PSD SD. If you're going to throw sakura out with tension FRC it and follow up! Less mawarikomi!!!
Be careful about throwing kabari when testament or slayer are airborne as they both can punish it from the air by going over it (or slayer j.HS through it).
Beware airdashing in at Slayer, don't be impatient!!!! Although Yonasu doesn't seem to much, he can 2S and counterhit j.S easy for huge a combo... a lesson I quickly learned from a few rounds in Japan. Some counters seem to be random/spontaneous.. I don't know if this is intentional or not but generally not a good idea vs a character who can kill you off a counterhit -_-. You should be more careful with stuff like setups into 5D as he can forcebreak it for huge damage if he reacts or predicts. You should do wakeup running 6K more as it punishes wakeup dandy as well as wakeup throw.
More confirming! vs both slayer and testament you can combo grounded 5S j.D fairly easily as they're both tall.. I don't think you went for it once! On a normal kabari low air hit you can combo into 5P and 5S. j.D FRC ad tatami relaunch is better damage and closer to the corner than j.D FRC j.SD. Lots of other chances for more damage in the corner with added j.P j.S or j.P j.K in your loops, that's not a big deal though.
Overall good sense and baiting though, as well as blocking. You just need to work on overall zoning and offense, as well as learning to be more patient with those characters. It might have something to do with still adapting to stick, but some of these problems are not just input related. I just got back from Japan.. they do not punish those dangerous things lightly :P
Sorry if it's too much criticism.. after playing a lot in Japan I really have started to analyze people deeper >_<

09-19-2007, 05:36 AM
Haha, well I haven´t had too much for AC-playing so I still cant handle all the confirms/combos. But my sense is OK I guess. I adapt quite quickly so If the start punishing my shit I´ll stop, I like doing bullshit too much though :keke:
I haven´t learned the 2K 5S jD frc ad-tatami combo yet, but I´m going to start doing 2k 5S jD after landing from an air-pressure-string so I can get the knockdown. Soo alot of the stuff you point out is because I still haven´t learned all the combos and analyzed what options are best. I just try to focus on playing at the moment, since I have to prioritize other stuff atm. But i´ll try too play more calmly next time.
Thx for the tips though! I´ll have a look at those SoCal-ranbatvids and comment your stuff there (in that thread though). I think I heard something about Insufficiant O.

the last one is just me getting hit by volcanic viper and sol command grab -_-
Standing gatling to j.D is really important even without the FRC. After finally starting to confirm it the fights against taller characters got a lot easier.

Two ranbats have gone by with no updates, because... ehm, I guess we're just kinda lazy that way =p
The second round of ranbats had Nehle missing and, due to unforseen circumstances, capping was all whack. In any case, it ended with the following results:
1: Yonasu (sl) +10,5p
2: Caer (te) +7p
3: Shinjin (ba) +5p
4: Godfrog (ve) +2,5p
5: Zae +0,5p
For the most recent ranbat, Nehle returned from his excursion to China, but instead Shinjin finally succumbed to the pressure of his studies and had to withdraw from this round. He will hopefully have time to join us for the next one.
Only 7 players for this one, resulting in one massive pool and single elim finals.
Vids:
Pool play: Caer vs Yonasu
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DmVcMDE8zzQ
Semi1: Yonasu vs Godfrog

Semi2: Caer vs Nehle

Third: Nehle vs Godfrog

Final: Caer vs Yonasu
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-4nC-VQa8k
Next ranbat this weekend, which will be the last one before Showdown in Lund II. Gotta get my quartercircles down by then :v:
And in case anyone's wondering, guiltygear.se is kinda in limbo for the moment, mainly due to the driving force (Shinjin) being so busy, as mentioned.

Razorcrane is youzansen not tetsuzansen! lol at insufficient O and the comments in general.
Shinjin you need to be doing throw -> tatami -> j.P in the corner, you can do it from a further distance and it does (especially when you throw many times in a match) significantly more than 2K 5S (and you should be getting the extra hits after airdash). When you hit with standing dust from far distances midscreen you want to j.S j.S instead of j.S j.HS because the HS will whiff. Airdashing in with j.S or coming down with j.HS from high up are suicidal against slayer although it seems like you stopped doing it after the first set. <3 to all the Swedish GG players

Well, I decided to go ghetto. Like, that was the first time I played guilty for like a month or so, and at casuals before the ranbat I played only May :P
But yeah, once I get more time I´ll learn AC-Baiken and not play that ghetto-ass-style :) But for now i´m satisfied with just having fun and will go for the ghetto.
Nice ranbat guys, see you next week! And the week after that its the Swedish Guilty-Gear/melty-tournament Showdown in Lund so expect vids from that too!

Yonasu: in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOFxdcZLtoc at 0:53 when you hit Jam with CH 5P into air combo -- if the opponent is too far in the air for the B&B air combo to work, go for damage like j.K xx FLJ or something. (i'm not sure what else you could connect after 5P x2 -> j.K, with that spacing.) at least, off-hand, i think the damage should work out to be better than j.K-2K -> j.K -> dj.K.
actually, looking at the set-up again, it looks like maaaaybe j.K -> dj.K -> dj.D could have worked, but maybe not. kinda iffy.
Yonasu
12-08-2007, 01:30 PM
Rtl42: j.k dj.k j.D j.2k etc might have worked, and is what I shouldve gone for as a tensionless combo. But I think j.k dj.k DHD wouldve connected, and probably finished the match right then. My only defense is that I didn't have that much exp. vs Jam and her very small hitbox then.
Thanks for the input though, Slayer requires alot more thougth concerning spacing in his combos now and his game becomes so much better when you learn to deal with it.

SOUTHERN CROSS SEASON 1 EPISODE 1
Yea, we played this yesterday. It was awesome. Everybody who showed up was awesome. our brand-new capping card was awesome. My brand-new Robo-ky (aptly named Awersome-Robo), was not awesome, but whatever, we all had great times anyways. Shinjin has nominated himself to "most awesome moment" in his match against Yonasu, but I'm not gonna spoilt what it is.
Anyways, 12 people, two pools, eight playoff places, two bags of candy, one sofa. A lot was at stake
To save myself all the write-up, here's a chart showing the pools. Nekomon, who some might remember from S2iL, won his group after a strong showing. Clearly better nerves this time than at S2iL
http://guiltygear.se/images/sc1e1pools.jpg
Then the playoffs began. I'm only gonna link to the chart for that so it won't spoil those who want to see the awesome video.
Playoff chart. Boring and full of spoilers (http://guiltygear.se/images/sc1e1playoff.jpg)
THIS IS MUCH MORE FUN THAN LOOKING AT A CHART (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7360729579066136787)
Yea, I know some obvious mistakes I did, but if someone wants to give more better pointers than I'm all for that too :kitty:
So there you go, enjoy a great show.

you probalby dont even need the 2nd djK to do DHD, you probably can do it after jK ->j2K ->DHD-> the rest
Jam is one of those characters that have those floaty hit boxes, that are also vertically big, yet horizontally thin ><...
and Slayer is one of those character where you have to be at any time change ur combo and know how much tension you need to do what so its tough...

Hey, everyone!
Obviously mindless Champion notified me about it only now, though I've told him about this months in advance and he's the one following the international scene much more than me.
Anyway, the dates seem to be good and the scale of the tournament seems epic, so it'd be a big waste not to try and be there. :yaaay:
Right now Ryanair arrival on friday late evening seems like the best option we have and looking at http://www.bitterharmony.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=2300&start=0 I was relieved to see that the GGXX tourneys have been moved to saturday (which makes a lot of sense, as friday is usually the "arrival" day for everyone and people can get late).
So yeah, in short, if everything goes well, Champ and I will try our best to be there. :yaaay:
Don't know yet about a third player but considering I've only found out about it half an hour ago, plans seem to be going well. :kitty:

A heartwarming quotes from the SVB'08-thread at the brittish-forum:
More like everybody that has a name in Euro is going there (showdown) or nowhere lol. Cant blame them. That event is a GG players dream. People not only go there to see who is the best, but to learn. 3 days of casuals and tournament is a rich experience. I think every character will be present. As they say, you have (had) to be there!
We will do our best to make it the most awesome tournament ever! I hope you all will help us by taking part of the hype during matches :kitty:
And another quote, just because seems like someone knows shit:
Seriously SLS, europeans are NOTHING special on GG. The only good players are in sweden and they're not coming (to SVB08).
See you all at Showdown3!!!
Edit: SVB'08 is a event held during the same weekend as S3IS and has one gg-tournament (1on1).

oi oi, go easy on the hype. starting to sound fachist:kitty: And you know what happens to fachist. They rise fast and fall hard.:eng101:
and its not like players from outside of EU will join (this) year, if you make more noise. :keke:
instead you should be preparing animal sacrifices, pray that maybe Ruu or 0 will show up. Might help :keke:
PS Why is my quote travelling all around the world? Is it gonna be like Euros equivalent to the infamous Joe Higashi quote at SBO or what? :sweatdrop:

This was the best european event in the history of guilty gear so far, excellent players, excellent casuals, and lots of fun.
crazy tournament with many upsets.
1v1 tourney: kekken defeating caer, xzi defeating cuongster, lazze winning, which probably surprised many people, except me & acd, who knew how good he is.
i got wiped out by oro (potemkin) in singles, destroyed by my own impatience (and pot vs. chipp in general, heh).
Team battle went ok - we lost to lazze's team, last match was me vs. him, i don't remember much, but it was probably not too spectacular.
the europe vs. sweden big team tournament was also epic - that was actually the opener to the whole tournament, and the crowd went totally nuts. french started singing every other match. i got sent in really late and wiped out xzi (ja), then got defeated by shinjin (ba), who in turn got defeated by Millia(guess what char he plays), for the win. Caer lost to mitsurugi after a lenghty winning streak. Cuongster, Lazze & others did not have to play.
vids should be a lot of fun to watch - too bad the crowd noise will be missing.

Thanks to everybody who attended to make this MOST AWESOME EURO GG EVENT EVAR!
First of, the average skill level was much, much better compared to other tourneys I've been to. I think a lot of players got quite surprised at how good everyone was. I won my pool in the singles tourney and in the team tourney I got ocv'd by the same people. Crazy :psyduck:
For one with so few matchup experiences as me this was really valuable. Playing all different chars with all different styles really forcing you to think and rethink what you do and why you do it - cruise control killed you fast.
Lazze was awesome.
The french were equally awesome, bursting into the french national anthem time and time again during epic matches. Everybody really bought into the hype - it was amazing to see (and hear). And the story of their epic lunch will be retold many times.
The french and germans FRC'd a zebra crossing to have one final group picture with us taken by a top tier random passerby.
My only complaint was that I didn't get to play everyone I wanted to play against in casuals. On the other hand that was basically everybody who attended

4. Bullshit warehouse, Mio / Tsiisus / cube-m (FIN)
A small mistake here. I played in Team Bullshit Warehouse, and Mio played in "Whatever, pretty random, shrug". So the correct top 4 is:
1. La Cruelle, Coungster / Joe Higashi / Oro (FRA)
2. Im Caer, Bitch, Who the fuck are you?, Caer / Xzi / Shinjin (SWE)
3. Whatever, pretty random, shrug, Lazze / Lari / Mio (FIN)
4. Bullshit warehouse, Starfire / Tsiisus / cube-m (FIN)

Well maybe yes there is.
That was the best event I had the pleasure to go, really cool people, nice and welcoming, high level competition, the place was nice with a fridge, micro-wave and stuff allowing us to eat some weird stuff in front of the amazed eyes of our Northerner bros.
And definitely a lot of HYPE.
I second your last comment Nehle, it is a shame I didn't get to play against everyone in casual play too, including Lazze, Xzi, you and many others.
Too bad we had to backdash cancel early Sunday and end this lovely trip to Sweden in order to go back to our everyday life (boo, working is unhealthy).
French kisses to all !
Today was such an unfamous day, remembering of how much that event was crazy and crying all the way...

Great job Mitsurugi :D I really liked the way you worked this match. You had a good game going, even though it looked like your nerves were getting to you a little when Kekken had you under some good Zappa pressure. Really, I think that the dog bite in the corner is what did you in. I really liked the whole "tech trap-airthrow-mist" setup, major props for getting it in as much as you did. Also, I just really liked the way you moved during the match, like when you dashed, your spacing, use of double-hops. All good. Again, I think you did a great job, I wish my Johnny was as good ^^

Yea, failing to get that knockdown (I did 6P > 2H > 236H, should have done 5H > 236H) screwed me up in that round. I just got desperate trying to land a final hit and shit like that doesn't fly against players like Champion.
The match after that I got pretty confident though, but in the end nerves failed me again with a retard panic burst and Champion realizing just how effective WT is against me, even though I tried to backstep it at every opportunity (which is just as bad. I got fucked up by another player who would feint dash in WT and then toss out VV or TR instead).
But, eh, you're only as good as your nerves allow you to be, and Champion is a great player
Xzi vs Coungster was too exciting.
Yea, I guess he wanted payback for that IK. "This is rare footage of Xzi actually angry". Though you can't really tell if he is, he always looks calm and/or concentrated

I'd like to thank to everyone who played against me. I had some awesome matches with you, Caer, Lazze, Cuongster, Koji, Oro, Ryukim, Mitsurugi, and so on. I'm upset I didn't get to play more people, but oh well. We had to leave pretty early the next day after the turnament.
And my biggest problem was my health, by having almost NO voice at all, some ear pain and so on.. dammit. >_> I felt so out of energy. But the next day after the turnament I felt better and played better too.
In the turnament I made some unnecessary input errors and such. Hype was strong, I was pretty nervous too and forgot to do some new things that I was thinking about before. At the and I lost to Lazze. He played very well, safe. I didn't adjust well my playstyle to play against him. And I hate mirror matches too. ;p Great performance by him (and by Nehle and Steph, I barely beat you guys)
All in all it was AWESOME and I'm waiting for the next big european event. Hope to see you guys soon (and that I come in a healthy state). ;)

You were playing so well those first two rounds! Damn testament! Sucks that you guys played each other so early though, I would have expected you to be seeded from each other. Also, I think youzansen FRC should be banned from all tournaments from now on :o Nice to see slashback being used to clear webs, I haven't played with it much myself.

I dunno if it's me but people generally tend to hate Jam players. I guess it's because her tendency to kill people from a single 2D or FB puffball? :keke:
Anywayz Xzi is a beast. The footage doesn't give the rape feeling that was present on the event. Only those present can understand what meant this kind of victory. Hearing Coung later crying "I hate Jam! I hate Jam!" is priceless. I guess he really does not understand this matchup. Yet.:vbang:

i don´t flame xzi, i give him all my respect ! he sure is a awesome player but this match was the worst performance i ever saw of cuongster...at this stage of the european scene it is 60% matchup exp. and 40% skill that determines the outcome of a battle ! i think you can clearly see that in the europe vs. sweden battle when ATG ends XZIs streak...comeon we´re talking about jam vs. chipp o_O ! ATG won becuz he knew the matchup VERY VERY good from our training sessions, and i guess XZI didn´t know chipp that well...that´s why i want that team event online so i can see for myself...
i think it goes without saying that ALL the scenes outside of japan suck (even though i think europe clearly beats USA on all levels ^^), and i can only judge other jam players, that´s why the only name you see me write is xzi >_< ...i hope you understand...
MUCH love to all the european guilty gear players !

i think xeno's point is pretty much that is is obvious that still a lot can happen on our tourneys, and experience plays a greater role than on the highest level (obviously) :)

We also had SC#4 last week, held in Gothenburg. Attendance was lower, but fun times were had by everyone present. No capping as the equipment was being a bastard. Results for that ranbat were:
1) Caer
2) Nekomon
3) Shinjin
4) Svampen
Svampen is working up an awesome Bridget now. It's incredibly fun to watch.
Final results for the entire season is as follows:
1:a Caer 7p
2: Nekomon 6p
3:a Shinjin 5p
4:a Yonasu 4p
5:a Xzi 2p
With only 4 ranbats held this season, having varied levels of attendance and some upsets for characters selections, results may be a bit skewed. But it's been a blast having these large scale ranbats. How we'll ever get things done next year when official organizer Shinjin leaves us is still a mystery, but we'll try our best :v:

Go ahead and think that if you want to, but im really serious when it comes to studying, and my plans with education/for the future, but yeah, it kinda kills the buzz away from me when all random no-future-plans-no-reason-people go there and create this image. But my plans for the future is not something to be discussed here, so please keep the diskussions about the vids and the community.
I looked at the vids now, I really started spamming counters halfway from the second half of the first match, sucks....
And the MC's are: Caer, Me & Nehle in the match between Caer and me. Caer mc's my matches and our voices are pretty different so you can tell us appart.
Have a good day.
Edit: Oh and btw. As you probably heard in one of the vids, Yonasu is using stick now. No more pad-warrior bullshit!!! :keke:

the next showdown will be when eighter myself or someone else willing to help pulls their hand out of their ass and does something about it
the previous showdown was so big so for the next one, me and cheeseabuser thought of getting a much better location and venue. so until we actually do something nothing will happen, but fear not we are still thinking about it.
the last was in march so if we could make showdown atleast a yearly event it would be awesome.

Rensengeki : truly I think you should not try to find a location in Stockholm. I know many of you laughts when we said stenhamra was great, but as the place was big with a lot of place, a market nearby and... a freezer (gorgeous !), we felt that we didn't need anything else than that and the sixteen televisions.
Seriously, even if it's funny for you, for us these conditions to play were far better than being in a small place but in a big city. Comfort is more important in my opinion than hype of a big city : we came to play, see your level, compete it and we were truly very satisfied, and that is, in my opinion, the more important. ;)

Re-opening of www.GuiltyGear.se !
This site will be worth paying close attention to! Trust me ;)
We're btw looking for people that could write about GuiltyGear-related hype, matches and awesomeness in the USA. If anyone is up for that challenge, please send a PM or something.
We aim to create a purely for GG, GG-vids, GG-strategies, and hype of the awesome game in these sad times of BlazBlue.
Please support us by just visiting the site!
Me personally will try to get some interviews going with some of the top japanese-players here in Kansai and post them on the site. That and write-ups on tournaments and ranbats that I go to.
Well, alot of stuff will go down on this site, and if you have a solid knowledge about the community and/or the game, and feel that you want to help the GuiltyGear-community grow and have a love for the game and the community, please do help us out ;)
We will also try to feature not only japanese-videos, but also European/American-videos from tournaments.
I could rant on about dreams and ideas, but this is a site for GuiltyGear, and thats about it. Hope you'll be checking in out.
Peace

"The second, and last, episode of the Southern Cross of the 2009 Spring-season ranbat was a awesomely fun ranbat, or so I am told. puKKa has now (finally) fixed the vids with synched commentary-audio and awesome picture-quality for all of you to enjoy a great showtime!
Of course, alot of awesome Caer-commentary, alot of bullshit, and if you end up watching them you will most definitly end up having a better day. We promise you. Though Glenn & Nehle will be sad though. So don’t watch their vids. No, you have to watch Nehle vs Yonasu. Heck, watch ‘em all.
