Meant to start this for a while now but whatever here it is. I will try to keep it updated with as many UK GG matches as possible, tho that will be mostly from the players in the north west UK (where I live lol). There are loads of matches already on my youtube page but I'll will scan thru and pick out the better ones soon.

In the meantime, here are matches from a mini north west tourney we had not so long ago, as well as some casuals which took place afterward.

good to see our British friends play too. I really liked the Slayer. for some reason it bothers me that he doesnt stick with a color.

I liken Goukifafa's Slayer to a wild dog lol. He doesn't play for knockdowns and he doesn't play with many mixups, he's just constantly in your face looking to do as much damage and cause you as much grief as possible lol. You can't really see it in those final vids but his links are pretty damn tight, he'll rarely miss his multi 5S(c),5S(f)s or 5Ks or whatever.

Ryza's Slayer on the other hand is a lot more methodical and he's pretty clinical with his combos. Big damage AND knockdown usually. And a whole different set of mind games to worry about too.

did ryza drop i-no?

Yeah, kinda. ABA was his main char thru the early days of AC, then he moved onto I-No more as she was neglected. Since then it's been more Slayer and May but now he's using May more and looking to easy off on Slayer. Tho he could always go back to I-No messing around in casuals since he's used her from pretty much the beginning of Slash (loads of experience to fall back on).

We were lucky enough to have players come from all over Europe to this, several of whom actually reached the finals:

Keev (France)
Cyrox (Sweden)
Grand Lethal (Greece)
Zaelock (Greece) -> is name is wrong on the vids lol

Bido and Hadeed are both studying here in the UK and in fact live 2 flats apart. Was total fluke that they ended up in the same quarters match. I believe Bido was also a former sparring partner of Latiff!

Zakuta and Ian are the UK's own home grown talent lol

Unfortunately for Keev, the GGXXAC event over ran this time and he was un-able to play further in the tournament as he risked missing his flight home. :( French Millia player Chris was also in attendance for this with Keev.

Plenty of great matches happened in the finals however....tho there IS a Baiken mirror to watch lol

LM_Akira

how many people participated?

For which event?

For RBs that I run and the mini tournies I hosted we'd get on average around 11 players, think the most we ever got was 13. But GG isn't as big as other fighters in the UK anyway and generally it was just local players (traveling 200 miles to enter local RBs/mini tournies is a bit ott for London based players).

For SVB 2008 we had around 30 I'd say, including maybe 8 European dudes (the first stage was 4 groups and each group on average had about 7 players).

SVB 2008 was held on the same weekend as Showdown in Sweden tho, so we missed out on more Euro heads coming :(

We have another GG tourney coming up soon called ReBirth 3:

http://www.neoempire.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=94

Which looks to have mainly UK heads entering. We're also having an official North v South 5v5 team battle as well (at Rebirth 2, the South won by 18-7, it's time for the North's revenge lol).

SVB 2008 was great even though a lot of good GGAC were missing.

I’m waiting for SVB 2009 which is going to be awesome.

The UK scene shows its power again in organizing good tournaments we show and heard that again for BoD though there was no GGAC.

Hopefully all the European GGAC players will be in the next SVB.

Well, we normally get great comp at the Trocadero arcade on Fridays (we've got new sticks and buttons to fit in now as well).

And I am always willing to host GG sessions on the weekend if no one else is doing them =D

Other than that, there is a GGAC tourney on Sunday 9th of November called Rebirth. KoF98UM and GGAC are the only tourney games; however there will be many games up for casuals and such.

Anyway, it'd be nice to see you if you do come down, and hopefully we provide some good enough comp ;)

ReBirth took place on the Sunday just gone in Harrow (just outside central London) UK and was run by Neo Empire. There were single events for KOF98UM and GGXXAC and there was a North vs South GGXXAC Team Battle in which the South beat the North 19-6 (all matches were capped and will be uploaded at some point).

We also had 4 linked setups of SFIV and ran a mini tournament which Desk won. There was also the latest build of Super Turbo HD Remix playable on casuals as well.

Hum... Are the finalist the best players of UK or is there players better than them ?

:?:

The finalists were the people who got to the finals out of all those who entered on the day. Same with any tournament.

Around 24 players entered and there were 4 groups of around 6/7 with top 2 going thru to knockout stage. There were quite a few upsets in the groups and not all the strongest players could make it on the day/enter anyway.

But Goukifafa has won 2 AC RB seasons and now 3 tournaments, he's def one of the stronger players in the UK.

I was just curious because the may seemed a bit lost, the slayer is just agressive, the sol does not know any loop and the potemkin miss the same combo 4 times...

Except the slayer in fact who have a good agressive play and solid combos, the others does not seem very strong, and almost all are using burst dangerously and not garding very well.:(

But perhaps conditions, stress, and many other things happened and made it hard for players, I am myself not so good and tournaments makes me stress a lot. :keke:

EDIT : the others quarter finals

Thanks for the comments Neithan!

That May isn't our best May, doesn't really play the game, he is a Tekken player. If you want a good May check out SM_Raedis or Ryza's May on the earlier pages.

Goukifafa has a good Slayer which is just pure offense however...but you will understand when you play him 0_0

The Sol player is Sky, our resident joker. He has never owned the game and he just plays Sol very basic, but in doing that he plays well.

We aren't as solid as the Rest of Europe? I don't know, we'll have to play to find out ;) I'll hopefully be traveling next year so I would love to play others.

I think you are as great as others in europe, I did not ask to pretend being superior or all (re-reading my post can make it feel that way), I was just very surprised as, like I said, some players seemed in stress or not knowing the game, and as only two players came out of the qualification, it was very surprising ! ;)

Hope to see others matchs of all to see improvement !

Come to paris to participate to the gnouz ranking, some great players are coming each time and the level is increasing. I am myself not from paris but from normandy and try to come each time to level up ! ^^

In fact many french players were interested but they were sometimes problems for sleeping and as hotel is expensive, many can't came, and the others forget. :/

Next time I hope. ;)
