View Full Version : Final fight against Johnny as Testament Tips in GG X2 #Reload

It's late so I'll keep this short (and save my introduction for a later time). I recently downloaded GG X2 #reload for my 360. I've messed around with most of the characters and have developed a liking for Testament (he reminds me of Nightmare/Siegfried from soul caliber in the way he plays). I can make my way through all his fights easily enough until I hit what I'm assuming is the final fight against Johnny where I run into something of a roadblock. I don't know what the move is called or why he never does it in other games modes but Johnny seems to have a one hit kill attack that hits fast, seems to be unblockable, and also seems to hit from across the screen. To top it off he seems faster, and when I get him down to no health he refuses to die. I mean I literally get all his health down, beat on him when he has NO health bar and he still doesn't die. I spent better than two hours trying beat him but have failed every time. I need to know if there is some specific condition, attack or something I need to use because I'd hate to not be able to finish the story line of my newly discovered favorite character...

In general I'd rather not go lower than the default difficulty; the game it too easy as is until I reach Johnny. As for blocking... Well his Mist Finer becomes becomes an unblockable single it kill so the block, very much like the goggles...Does nothing... (And I maintain better than 4/5 my health bar until he manages to oneshot me anyway.)

Thanks for the info; though so far as I can tell there some sort of criteria; since when I deplete his health bar he still doesn't die. I may need to hit him with a one hit kill, prob is I've not managed to pull it off yet...

At the bottom of this FAQ is a list of Gold Characters and their effects. In Story Mode, they tend to show up disguised as normal enemies, your best bet is to go for the Instant Kill Destroy Attack, or dizzy them into it with cheapness.

I don't remember his mist finer being unblockable, but if it is, you need to RTSD and not give him the time to use it. Nets on oki into knockdown combos into more nets. Try to wait for him to run into a net instead of chasing him around with his retarded full-screen crossup dash. Avoid using stuff like 5S/6H/6H/2H/2D unless you are absolutely sure he won't own you for it. If his finer is not unblockable, block low while on the ground and try to avoid jumping as much as possible. Probably best to start pressure with exe FRC from a distance, just watch out for the dash if your timing is off. And yes, I believe you need to IK him... :psyduck:
Edit: Upon testing I managed to kill him with an exe beast. I'm on the pc version though, I dunno if that makes a difference...

Mist Finer is only unblockable if you get caught in Bacchus Sigh (the mist cloud).

I did. I finally got the coin tossing little prick. I had to beat on him quite a while after his health bar was actually gone but he finally died; ironically to (what I think) is Testament's weakest hit, Phantom Soul. The skull hit him on the landing from an air combo and he just...Died. XD
As I side note I've learned that EXE Beast is about the most abusable thing in Tesatment's move list. :psyduck: I'm working on FRCing it and seeing where it can go from there...

EXE Beast is pretty abusable but I think Testament's Grave Digger is just as, if not more, abusable than EXE Beast. You can bounce the opponent off the wall and continue into an air combo. It's definitely also a good move to end combos with I think.
