GG Xrd Mission 20 Help

Recommended Posts

Really been enjoying Xrd, but I'm pretty new to GG & having a tough time with mission #20 (called Steal His Soul or something)

The mission is to hit Ky twice, and after the 2nd hit he does a psych Burst. I'm supposed to launch him in the air & beat his psych burst with an air throw. The instructions seem to heavily imply that I should use dust to lauch, so that's what I'm doing. After dozens of attempts, I've only been able to air throw the psych burst one time. I launched with D, then after coming out of dust animation hit Ky with a quick P then 6H for the air throw. However, this only worked once, and every other time I do it, Sol goes into his air H attack instead of an air throw.

Am I missing something about air throws? I've tried to air throw directly after leaving dust animation and it doesn't work. I've tried doing 4H (instead of 6H) for the air throw after coming out of dust and hitting P and it doesn't seem to make a difference. It seems like I've got the right idea by using dust to launch then doing a quick attack into air throw, and I'm definitely close enough to get the throw, but it's not working for me, and I'm not sure why.

Any advice? Thanks in advance.

Easy solution is to do

5k c.S, this is where Ky bursts. As soon as the burst animation starts, you jump forward and throw him. You have to jump after Ky so that you are below him for the airthrow to work. If you jump before Ky, you won't be able to throw him.

If you want to do it from Dust, what you can do is

Dust. j.P WAIT. When you see the Burst animation, throw. Works every time. The opponent has to be out of blockstun for you to be able to throw him. Burst removes blockstun, thus you can throw as soon as you see the animation.

I just did two hits, blocked the burst, then air threw him and it still registered a success.

Of course if you want to learn how to actually throw a Burst then make sure your second hit is a jump cancelable move to make it easier.

Thanks so much for the advice! I didn't understand that you need to wait for Psych burst animation start up BEFORE throwing, I thought I needed to throw before Ky could start the burst. It seems like I just need to wait like you said a little before I do the throw, I was probably doing it too soon.

I was wondering if there was some way to do this without using dust, this sounds like a good idea too, thank you! So, if I'm understanding correctly, I could do Sol's 5K, and after the 2nd hit block. Then Ky will burst, and I jump to grab.

And to be honest, even though I'd like to actually learn how to throw the burst, if I can block it then throw, I'll take it :)

Baby steps, right?

Update: This is what I needed, thx for the advice. I was able to clear it by delaying the timing on my 6K.
