A.B.A AC match video thread

i can never get throw dash keybrag on anyone it should work on. anyways the match vs slayer was pretty good and the one against baiken made me laugh a lil because it just reminds me of how little i airthrow

Videos.. Summoner, from watching your videos, I got some hopefully constructive observations. The main thing to improve is your execution; you dropped a good chunk of your combos, especially ones off the throw. The dj.P throw combo nets ABA insignificant damage for very strict timing. I either go for dash in, 5S, 2S, Butt since it gives fantastic oki, dj.S in the corner (which can be tight), or just a general combo into sj into keygrab. But if you're set on using the dj.P combo, practice it like you mean it. Also, never dry keygrab in Moroha mode. It's too much to commit to and exposes you to getting knocked down easily; (it cost you first round of match five imo) bloodpack or combo into it. In Normal mode, it's an okay risk since on hit you get a free bloodpack and on whiff the risks aren't nearly as grave. Finally I'd try working 2S and 6P into your game more, ABA has some really strong anti-air options. Catching Jam with CH 2S for serious dmgs can def happen. Hope that helps. :) Tage*Proto, good shit in your matches, you played strong in both matches. I think ABAs should save the unbrock vs Baiken for when they have 50% tension and can RC it for guaranteed damage. It netted you a burst (As pretty much any ABA stagger will do) Rd 1 so more power to you. <3 that gold burst v Slayer :)

I was able to record a lot of footage (like 3+ gigs) for an ABA tutorial vid using 4r5's capture card last night. :)

PS Tage, I will most likely not be at FR due to a variety of reasons. In all likelihood I will be attending Evo East as well as Evolution this year, so hopefully I'll catch you at one of those.

Moroha your buttloop use in the vid vs Ky kinda makes me jealous, i haven't gotten that good at it yet but seeing 2 reps helps me grasp the concept and kinda makes me glad i'm on her side lol. Is that eddie player good by your standard or is that something i can expect from anyone playing eddie because that was pretty scary.

My execution is pretty sketch on these, you'll see me not string my f.S or 236S correctly in a few instances. Hopefully the TN guys will get my match vs Robot's Sol uploaded, that man's Sol was too good.

Just officially picked up ABA and was playing a Johnny player for a while last night. He's so awkward to combo! Anyway, combo into 2HS, IAD jS jHS land keygrab... is that specific to Johnny/heavier characters? I like that.

Oh, and a question about the crazy recoil on 5HS that hits up and behind her. Is that untechable on counter-hit or just for a small time frame? Would just like to know for reference to know if I can wait for them to fall to an acceptable height for a loop, or if I should just capitalize on it ASAP.

EDIT: Oh and why do I see rekka x3, FRC, 2k, close slash etc? I mean I understand needing the right height, but can't you use something that doesn't prorate like 90% or however much most low kicks do? Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't ©5S, (f)5S(1hit), 2S, butt be more damage?

While I'm at it, any pointers vs Dizzy? Ugh, Dizzy is very problematic for me in general in this game, much less with a character who can't afford to fall down three times. I can block the rushes, predict & counter most throw attempts, it's just all the fucking projectile spam/runaway I can't deal with. Two airdashes + bubble + fish + ice spike that releases when she wants = even FB Danzai gets broken through. Is there a limit to the number of hits on autoguard, or is it 'cause they're hitting low at a certain frame? It'd be like *DANZAI ROAR* COUNTERCOUNTERCOUNTERCOUNTERCOUNTER *finally gets hit out of it*

Eh, well after the rekkas, yes you want 2k so you can get the right height, launch them up for an air combo into keystab is prefered.. the damage is already huge enough, trust me.(Go try it). as for your dizzy problems, try to be a bit more patient with the fishes. Try to move in while avoiding the projectiles and maybe destroying them, eventually she'll corner herself from the run away. She might try to double air dash out of the corner but once you are close to her, there's very little she can do to stop your rush down corner pressure. If she tries to air dash out of the corner A.B.A has excellent tools to stop that(like 2S).

Alright, so it is height... I do use that combo with the 2k included, I just wanted to ask. Usually if you're going for that extra damage kill you have the meter to RC butt into Orbs, so I guess you're right, I shouldn't worry about the damage. It's hard to lose a match after connecting a good rekka combo anyway. :yaaay:

How do the fishes work now? I think that might help me, I haven't messed with Dizzy since #R. I know you can like... call a fish but hold another button so it'll bite once then laser or something? And they stay out until hit now? I just got overwhelmed I suppose - when I did get my offense started, Dizzy definitely couldn't get out, it was just hard catching a (smartly played) runaway Dizzy. Like not completely run away, but just enough to get me in one of those mixups with airdash j2S, low/another airdash leading to a knockdown, yadda yadda. Dizzy players panic when I have them pressured, but I'm still trying to learn how to capitalize on people's fears/desperate measures to get out of my pressure. I really should just be more patient and maybe only pop fishes with 5p if they're in range, no laggier normals allowed.

CH jHS, run in 2K, 5S, 2S, TK orbs FRC, slight pause air dash jHS, land, 5S, 2S, butt RC, orbs. Close heavy slash, Jump Heavy slash, run in, down kick, neutral slash, down slash, tiger knee (w/e that is lol) orbs fake roman cancel, slight pause air dash, jump Heavy slash, land, neutral slash, down slash, butt roman cancel, orbs and he dies. Is that right lol?

pretty close but not quite... though honestly this is not a practical combo to try to learn if you're new to the game, which it seems like you might be with the notation being confusing: CH = counter hit counter hit jumping hard slash, dash in down kick, neutral slash, down slash, 412369 would be the motion, or HCF, U/F + slash(I think), false roman cancel, air dash HS (still in air), and yeah the rest is right

I am kinda new to it, I played it very long ago and am just now getting back into it. I just beat all the story modes in guilty gear xx reload, and I am playing through arcade with characters on maniac difficulty.

Lol, moroha vs. young: *after third knockdown* "that's an instant kill", "KILL, KILL! NOW!!!" moroha vs. dropgate: *after jump in slash, both characters duck for 2-3 seconds*: "...where's your burst?!" So I finally ran into SoCal's gg scene. Too bad they meet fucking 81 miles away from me! And toying with young using potemkin. You're awful :(
