Kashell Report post Posted May 23, 2012 If you find yourself jumping after the 6H, that means you're way too late. You should input 8S right after the hitstop from the 6H ends (don't input during hitstop). And by the CR happening too slow, do you mean it doesn't connect after 6H? In this case, the hitstop for the 6H is when his pool stick is almost at Venom's feet and the opponent does a bounce on the ground? Or am I still too late? Thanks everyone, btw. ~_~()
Adelheid Report post Posted May 29, 2012 Hi there. Probably not many of you know me, and even fewer know me as a Venom player, but GG is my favorite game. Venom is in fact my favorite character in any fighting game. There's a lot of stuff scattered around here that people have asked for help with, like the 6P 6H Carcass Raid right here. Given that AC+ R is coming out, I thought after I get home from vacation, I'd work on a beginner's video tutorial to Venom, going over the basics of ball setups and a few simple things you need to know for combos. I've been wanting to do this for awhile, but the last time I looked here there was actually no posts in a VERY long time so I felt I had no one to consult. Seeing a bit more activity, I'd like to ask if anyone here has any particular idea of what they'd like to see in such a vid. Given when I'd be able to start the vid, it'd probably come out late next month.

Basics should be essential normals (pokes, anti-air), simple combos that you can loop with oki, basic ball uses, and of course, emphasizing defense.

Adelheid Report post Posted June 28, 2012 Well work on the video is going to be... Different, now, given what's in the changelist. Venom has a lot more stuff to do... And also, lost a lot. 6H being hard knockdown means... I couldn't rightly explain anything about better combos and expect them to carry over to R. Ball setups are the same, except when they're not given the ability to modify formations with D and the new move... Hmm. There were just, a lot more changes than I expected. Gonna have to think about this, probably start work up again after evo.
DaiAndOh Report post Posted June 29, 2012 Hmm you could probably go over the basic formations and uses, as well as poking and defense if you want to cover that with AC Venom. Maybe Dark Angel as well.
Viridian Report post Posted December 24, 2012 A relatively easy question on Venom but I can't really find any answer anywhere on the forums: how safe is it to cancel into a special after a blocked normal? I understand cancelling into Dubious Curve or Carcass Raid can be punished, but I'm not too sure if Stinger Aim is perfectly safe (or ball summon), whether it's a good idea to sometimes cancel the CR/SA themselves, and how much it depends on the normal used and distance. I have the feeling I've been abusing cancels a little due to not really getting punished for them, but it's hard to tell for sure at a beginner level. Thank you
DaiAndOh Report post Posted December 24, 2012 Do you mean not getting punished before the special move comes out, or the safety of the special move on block?
Viridian Report post Posted December 24, 2012 Sorry, I mean not getting punished before the special move comes out (I know how safe the special moves are on block, except for CR/SA cancel feint, which is probably a little confusing).
DaiAndOh Report post Posted December 25, 2012 Ah. That's actually pretty matchup and spacing dependent. Best bet is probably the record feature in training mode.
Viridian Report post Posted December 25, 2012 Okay, I was fearing it'd depend a lot on spacing and their own options, yeah... is the startup of the move taken into account when cancelling, so CR/SA is faster to come out when cancelled into than Dubious Curve? That's the other thing I can't really figure out yet.
