this is kinda relevant to the matchup so i'll spam here. beside 1-frame fd jump out of the exe beast 6k/6hs dash in exe beast 6k/6hs crap is there another way JO can get around safely? i cant seem to find a good way to get out of that in the corner....except my random exe beast SB...but thats too flaky of a strategy to be considered practical. in the start keep 2-3 char length away from testament and jump forward and back to dodge the crap testament throws out. with regard to exe beast foward, u can iad into time to js xx ensenga for knockdown. watch out for 2hs as a way for testament to get out of ur mc coin pressure. i have a bad habit of recoining whenever i get pushed back too far from the mc strings.. keep the strings short ie 2p,k, 5s mc so u can stay within jo's hotspot to take advantage of the ensenga/throw mix-ups. i think 2p is the only safe move to throw out against random warrant...mabe i am just bad at mcing ;9 i hate how u are winning a match then u get hit by a warrant and dies after the badlandloop...... super has 3 active frame and net has 2 so if the testament player only lays down one net and is being gay and tries exe summon pressure as oki u can counter it with the OD.

If you have a large enough opening to 1-frame jump out, you usually have a large enough opening to hit him.

JOFan: I had the same thoughts about keeping your strings short and sweet to stay within a specific spot. 2HS is the dirtiest shit ever in this matchup, and it goes through a lot of JO's moves, not just coins, and of course it gatlings into 2D for a free skull, which is as bad as it can get in this matchup for JO. I swear this matchup feels like it becomes like 9-1 if he can land a damn skull. This matchup blows lol. I was thinking if you ever get a to lvl2, you can do a long blockstring cancelled into Pose LMF, and release it in time to catch a potential Testament 2H....I have to try it, but if this could work I can potentially land an enkasu combo to discourage TE's from always trying to interrupt JO's pressure with that bullshit ass poke... The only time I feel JO has any chance is if he gets a KND of any sort and works from there. JO gets zoned almost for free, coins become big no-no's because you eat a skull for every 2HS that the TE hits, and TE's pressure is automatic and easy to access from anywhere on the screen if he can pick up on a single mishap on your part. DB's are good here if you can get high enough above him to harass him with it. But yeah I agree with JOfan, It sounds like a good idea to keep the strings nice and short to stay at a specific space with him if you can get some pressure going. Before that though your going to have to do some serious tapdancing, there's no other way to put it.

just want to add that pre-empted 3hs is pretty good if u find the local testaments spamming too much 2h as their get away card. something like 3h mc 1st hit into f.s 6h jackhound xx returnjack does at least 200 pt of dmg on testement. just make sure u stay at least 1.5 char length away from him when u decide to commit to the move as the startup is horrible..high risk but rewarding. also crimson has mentioned earlier in his JO normal list that 2D works fairly well against 2h. obviously, like a lot of jo's move u cant spam it and expect it to work out each time. u really have to get a feel of when the testament would try to 2h out of corner against ur pressure. and with a 2 hit 2d u can try iad over him on wakeup for a simple cross-up. also its a good idea to practise SBing against testament's 2d as he has horrible recovery on it. i havent tried SBing the exe-beast during his pressure string yet...is it worth practising?

Slashbacking in actual matches is so hit or miss for me...training mode is one thing, actual battle is a totally different matter. Anyway back to topic: How do we go about manuevering around the trees? One's instinct usually would be to jump them but if the TE is any smart he'll have set up a few blood traps to bait that beforehand. Then it's air combo -> blah blah badlandsloop lol. Too bad we don't have tensionless Jackhound anymore.

Great help to those fighting Exe Beast Spamming Testaments: When you put mist on him, on oki do 6K for the CH. or DB Transport over the Exe Beast.

SBing 2d is overkill for exe beast pressure, just ib it for high jump/dbt/kjt ... and h_exe has frc point before it actives, go figure

Even if it is overkill, any SB is welcome could you perform them with 100% success and not screw afterward (some people SB but are so astonished they do nothing afterward or do silly stuff like mashing throw even if there are too far away). The problem is getting those 100%. You should weigh the pros and the cons according to your own rate of success, what you can gain if you succeed and important what you can lose (waht the opponent can do) if you fail.

Killerwatt, you may want to remove the webs (what you call blood traps) first before the trees if the TE player put some above the trees. You can do so with mostly MF-P(1), back, up or front, falling or ascending j.S (those two pokes allow you to remove them from far away but don't be predictable as he can preemptive EXE beast your MF for instance) or jump toward them and IB/SB then jump again or AD (blocking in the air resets your jump option but IB/SB recovers fast enough for you to use, the blockstun won't force you to land), not necessarily toward the opponnent, you can jump/AD backwards.

Be careful as depending on your height and distance, he can do some ground-based move or a ground GD (you'll have to FD those) or BL during your jump hit.

You have to remove the traps while keeping in mind :

- where are all the traps (webs + trees)

- Testament's position, what he is up to

Don't focus too much nor go blindly into removing them without paying attention to those. And learn to move, to "flow", sometimes empty jumps (for instance jump forward then d.jump backward), sometimes just walking, etc.

You may want to browse through the "AC Match-up thread", the one we used back when there were no match-up sub-forum, only one topic for that :

http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3019

The firsts posts are supposed to gather all relevant posts but they aren't to date. The whole thread however may contain useful stuff not pasted in the now specific sub-topic.
