to add on to the above, a good rule of thumb is you shouldn't move backwards between the backdash startup and the jump cancel if you want a clean, invincible BDC.

 

you should be able to BDC mappa through ky's S stun edge. record a dummy and try it out

Since +R only nets you up to 6F of invul on BDC, IMO most of the times you're better off avoiding shit with BD invuls, then cancelling BD into mappa for punish (that's mostly how BDC Mappa is used in vids IIRC). Bite is different, because it has 7F start-up, so you can cover all start-up frames (7th is active).
