Kiba

[CP] Valkenhayn vs Kagura

Recommended Posts

Because of Kagura's DP motion [2]8C, Kagura is unable to DP you after an overhead. He needs to block low attacks for a while in order to charge it.

Also, keep in mind that its horizontal hitbox isn't that great and w5C can easily make it whiff therefore making w5C meaty and w5C>1D4C wolf loop safe ways to deal with him. Be mindful of barrier blocking however if you plan to use 1D4C.

I'm having trouble with this matchup, his damage is too high off of almost anything.

What do you do in neutral? My friend throws fireballs to startle me into jumping then DP/Airthrow if I jump towards him.

Can you guys point out the gaps in his pressure or his unsafe moves? And some useful tips in this matchup.

I know during pressure, if you IB the small fireball, you can jump out

you can punish his 2D > B approach by IB'ing the second hit then 2B/3C or throw

You can actually interupt the fireball on startup its not active 1f it seems. If I have to jump it though I normally use air konig B to reach a safe height to attempt jump ins but its risky cuz he will let the dp rip. You basically want a fast knockdown and use meaty w5c on his wake up. If he blocks and you 6d you need to be mindful he can dp you so its a good idea to keep 4d in mind when approaching.

I play lame in this matchup, I just wait for him to do things.

When Kagura is throwing fireballs I just high jump, but if I see they are getting closer to me I'll double jump and use j.D > wj.236B > wolf brake > wj.66D.  You can also wj.66D > j.C predictable fireballs.

With your corner combos, use safe jump setups, spaced w5C, wolf brake w5C, w5C > 6D > 1B OS (all in strategy guide)
