[CP] Izayoi vs Mu-12

Recommended Posts

I have to say this matchup is ass. We will not get the first hit, her neutral dominates.

I'm at a loss. Luckily Mu players aren't usually the strongest.

623B beats IAD back and I believe her 5C at the start of the round ( I'll double check later but I CH one). Letting her set up steins is the worst thing you can do so try to stay on her.

This is certainly ass unfortunately.

Once she gets her laser set ups out, it's pretty much game. You can't be patient about it since she chips you to death, and even if you do close, her DP pushes you back to neutral. Her 5C > your 5B.

If you manage to get some stars in, you can use some to D teleport when she's doing laser set ups and possibly hit her or even grab.

Other than that, Mu has this favor definitely.

I don't find this matchup horrible outside of navigating the stein field. Even then, your best option is to keep moving to minimize their effectiveness. You'd be surprised how often you can dash in and nail a Mu with 623B (or C if they like to be really high when they do it) who thinks it's safe to throw them up just because they're far away. The nice thing about Mu is that her pressure has pretty decisive stopping points, so you aren't going to be blocking forever like in certain matchups. She has better neutral overall, but you can still weave through her stuff with a good teleport or special.

Once you have the stocks, it's business as usual. Watching out for her DP is no different than watching out for Ragna's, so stick to her like glue and bait it out.

Can u please explain in detail? in my experience she can reset her pressure midway with steins setup, and reading that to get advantage is quite hard... blocking forever isn't really a problem imo, but running to get close passing steins fields is much more trouble than just blocking at the corner.

edit : @lxMetalSonicxl : 623b does eat 5c start, good info.

If she does reset her pressure by setting steins mid way, then you are respecting her too much.

As for her decisive stopping points, when she starts her C moves then that means that her pressure is over because she can only use her standing overhead after moves such 5a,2a (both are punishable with a throw or mashing) 5b or 6a. She can jump cancel her 3c but since her air normals have a bad hitbox to hit people on the ground, the best she can do with that is the slow j.2c or a deep j.b which can be punished with an AA

I think he said "reset her pressure midway with steins setup" as in using stein shots to cover pressure resets, which is a very valid observation.

That being said, I have never felt threatened by Izayoi while playing µ. Even after fighting SKD at NEC, I can only say it confirmed my observations that this matchup is a struggle for her in almost all aspects.

That being said, let's talk about what she CAN do.

5b is active as fuck, which means that it's main power in the matchup will be in catching the "earlier" extended hitboxes on µ's normals, notably 5c. I don't think you guys actually get anything off that but hey it's something.

D Teleport is a dependable callout to Totsuka (236d), Habaya (236a) and Habakiri (214d). All of these moves generate projectiles that originate in front of µ and travel forward, meaning that they will completely whiff. And with these respective moves having 80+ total frames, you literally get any punish you could wish for. Even something like Teleport > OD > Raw Fatal is completely realistic with a callout. Normal punishes are guaranteed in almost every situation outside of her oki.

In the event that she already has steins on the screen, it's likely you may be hit out of D teleport, however keep in mind that the steins will track to your original position, so more often then not you'll just dodge them.
