[CP] Tager vs Mu: Noeru powa upuu

Recommended Posts

Lasers still a problem, C normals still a problem.

Discuss how to fight this.

Fought Nemesis a bunch of times. This MU has changed significantly.

Except a lot more ground wars with her C normals. Lasers are still a threat but not nearly as much as they used to. The greatly increased speed of the lasers, combined with the fact that her Steins explosion only hits once means she cannot rely solely on them for victory. Sledge hammer is now a much more reliable way to get past lasers and explosions.

What's more, 45 Spark Bolt and 360C are both huge threats to her aerial laser setups. She cannot safely use air lasers if she's been magnetized.

Her C normals are still as nasty as ever though, expect a lot of footsies with those. Her new cross-up special thing can be dangerous too, but can be reacted to with a 360A.

Her DP is still hella annoying.

5C doesn't snag her backstep after a GF, which makes GF oki less desirable. Thankfully we have Grand Punish now.

In short: expect a bit less lasers, expect a lot more footsies on the ground. Respect her 5C, it's still dangerous as hell. It can be leapt over with a jA and followed up with a jD for a magnetism hit, but only on prediction/start of the round.

Doesnt double gadget finger still works against mu and nu backdash ?

Also if you land jD on a standing opponent it will combo directly into Gurren Punish.

Double gadget is a hard read on for catching backdash, normal reaction for people when caught by Tager is DP so its good to buffer a 360 in case they wanna DP, watch it whiff and 360B them for a on of damage.

Grinded this MU pretty often against Nemesis at casuals yesterday.

Okay, her steins explosion may be essentially defanged as an oki tool due to it's "casting" animation combined with it's lack of multi-hits, but she now has some crazy good setups, especially cross-ups, with her newly increased laser speeds. Be careful. Her lasers are good at misdirecting your actions and causing you to get hit at times you least expect it. She can actually set these up mid-pressure string now. I'm not a mu player so I don't know the setups exactly, but they're definitely there.

This matchup plays less like a hardcore zoner and more like a powerful melee character with some very nasty tricks.

I fought a Mu today and her lasers actually look much slower than before.

I think if you hit her when she does big lasers they go away too.

Are you talking about the startup or the speed of the projectile? To me the startup seems longer and the projectile seems faster. (Divine Light of Punishment is definitely much faster). Honestly they could be exactly the same and the increased speed of the game is just giving me the wrong impression.

During OD be prepared to just block until it's gone. During OD her lasers have barely any startup at all so she can just go ham with it

Tested a few things in Training mode. She can still do 4 hit Steins, but she has to hold the button for like a second which still makes it impractical for most oki situations. If the steins is already there should could potentially use it. You could probably just sledge it anyway though.

My overall opinion is that this is still likely one of Tager's worst matchups. You're nearly helpless without Spark Bolt, although Spark Bolt is a much greater threat in CP thanks to our 45 degree version so that helps. Even when she's threatened by Spark Bolt though, her normals just destroy you.

I saw Mu OD lasers last night, Lasers just shot out more, the guy didn't summon more steins so I was confused.

When I say Wisdom of the Divines I meant Divine Light of Punishment. -_-; I'm always getting her move names mixed up. I'll edit it when I get home later but it's a huge pain on my phone.

For the record, Wisdom of the Divines feels exactly the same to me.

EDIT: Done.

Learning to listen to Mu's Stein-setting (her D buttons) will help you enormously in this matchup. You can get Voltec Charge off safely if you pay attention. She summons slower, multi-hit lasers only by holding the button, which means she can't use them quickly. So if she rapidly uses multiple D moves, you know they're weak single-hit lasers. You might be tempted to keep your eyes on the steins themselves, but you really ought to be paying close attention to her animation rhythm instead. It's a bit difficult to explain, once you get used to listening to the rhythm of her audio cues for all her D moves, you'll be able to accurately predict when lasers are going to come out and which type is being used, as well as what you can do to avoid them.

I think I finally figured out what was causing all the "lasers are slower/faster" confusion. I think in CP her new lasers now have a bit more tracking time. This means if you move your position after she sets one, the stein has to rotate to point at you before it fires, and that animation itself feels like it's a bit slower. The lasers themselves feel the same to me apart from Divine Light of Punishment. It could easily just be a side-effect of the faster speed of the game though.

This fight feels overall easier to be honest. I fought against my really good MU friend and honestly though the lasers are still annoying....because they fire faster it also means her pressure ends faster as well. When the shot slower we would be in strings for days and just when we decided to get out she'd blow them up for that +40 in frame advantage move but now that is gone.

Sledge as stated before is extremely viable now. This matchup to me feels like a 6-4 in her favor than a 7-3 or 8-2 in the last game.
