[CP] Ragna vs Hazama

Recommended Posts

Wait. I think you are mixing up reversals before 2D and after 2D. Mash was mainly talking about being able to blow up the 5C > 2D string, as it isn't tight. You said that the Hazama player isn't going to try to beat the 5C > 2D, but you'd be surprised at how many people mash reversals after blocking Ragna 5C/2C.

FYI, no one is going to reversal after blocking 2D, so saying that 2D is -4 on block and that it pushes Hazama far so that if he should use a reversal, you can punish it...yeah, no.

You can bait out IB 5C > Jayoku.  Obviously there's no 100% way to reset pressure indefinitely but Ragna can easily make it so the gamble doesn't pay off to mash anything against Ragna.  If he IB 5C Jayokus and you just DP on the superflash, he wastes 50 meter and eats 2.5k, etc.

"you can go after Hazama to keep pressure if he jumps out"

super jump j.8db

Jump and airthrow him.  Or just DP even.

Man, I need to commit that hard on something he might not even do and I can't react to because I'm too far away after 2D and by the time I react, he'll already be out. What a great pressure reset.

but you know, "just dp"

My curiosity lies more on the fact an Izayoi player is discussing this character more than any other Ragna player in this forum.

May not be right/solid info but lool

any real ragna player knows that most of his matchups are shit so there's no point to really talk about it

this seems normal to me

That's so simplistic of you. The discussion is open to anyone, not just Ragna players.

You might have to do a read in a fighting game, clearly not a viable tactic.

It's not like I'm exclusively an Izayoi player.

I dunno man, the last time we had someone discuss the character that didn't play him was pretty. . .

I played Hazama since CS1 and the guy I casuals with on a weekly basis plays Ragna. I've got a decent grasp of the matchup I think.

After a blocked 2D you're pushed too far to really do anything. You're practically guaranteed they're going to jump away, and it's going to be especially hard to airthrow a Hazama that flies around with his chains. Hell, if they barrier my 2D I have hard time keeping up the pressure even if I RC the fucking thing.

2D should only be used every so often to make sure your opponent isn't just holding up-back all the time, but you really don't get much of a reward for landing it unless you RC it preemptively. On CH it's great, makes for a decent frametrap to catch people who try to mash after IBing 2C, or to catch people who mash after 5C in an attempt to stuff DS. But like said before, it carries a risk if the opponent IB's your 5C and has meter for Houtenjin.

2D on block helps in matchups where having space in between you is good, like against Tager or Azrael or whatever, but against Hazama, you really want to stay on top of him as much as you can.
