Button layout on stick

Recommended Posts

I just bought an arcade stick, and I'm curious to know what button layout is good for Johnny. I have no idea what the standard layout for stick is when it comes to GG, so I used tested some layouts to see what felt most natural.

Buttons:

1-2-3-4

5-6-7-8

Current layout:

D-S-N/A-Taunt

P-K-HS-N/A

I decided on three basic attacks next to each other, which makes RC/FRC easier to pull off. Ordinarily, I'd have S where HS is and vica versa, but it makes it tricky to FRC Killer Joker/Divine Blade Transport FRC. Anyone got any suggestions?

It is already have been written somewhere here on Dustloop forums but unable to find it in a short time, here is a quick answer.

If you plan on playing on arcade stick, use the official layout !

Seeing you have 8 buttons, you can map them like :

Most common :

X - K - S- HS

X - P - T - D

Or :

K - S- HS - X

P - T - D - X

It depends if you want to have the empty buttons on the left or on the right.

T is Taunt, you can map it elsewhere than between Punch and Dust if you wish/have trouble with it/press it by mistake.

On a side note, remember you have to FRC DBT and KJT only with P+K+HS. Using S amongst the 3 FRC buttons will activate the follow-up instead of FRC the Transport.

Yeah, I actually found that out yesterday. It had been boggling my mind for ages that I just couldn't pull it off, so I just eventually gave up on it. When I finally found out, I swapped S and HS so I had P - K - HS on the bottom row and BAM, FRC on first try. :)

The official layout looks good, but makes the DBT/KJT FRC tricky. Worth a shot, though.

is this an hrap 1 style config or is it a true japanese style curve with those two useless buttons for tekken on the side?

that's hrap 1 style, so i'd use the outermost six buttons if i were you.

all the true japanese curve is is a slightly different shape from those outer six; you see it on hrap 2's and the like (like this one). if you had a stick with that config, you would be using the innermost 6 buttons.

Could you map PKSH to a button and hold S then tap all 4 to do it?

If you map PKSH to one button (say L1) and hold down S when you press L1 the game doesn't press it because it's still being held down.

Try it just standing. Hold down S and tap L1. Normally you would just go into instant kill mode. With S held down you start to swing 5P.

:eng101:

EDIT:

Sorry, I forgot you were on stick. My bad.

But still, it works.
