[P4AU] Labrys Q/A Thread

Recommended Posts

There's really not much to say about the orb; At long range, it's good at closing in on your opponent. For oki purposes, it can be used for pressure during your next combo. However, I do find myself using it a lot for mid-air resets. Maybe other players can add what they use the orb for; you never know!  \('.' )

You're not really missing out on her other persona moves. Using Standing C as a poke is good, but using Standing C as pressure is great. Doing 5A > 5B > 5C shouldn't be too bothersome if you're not too predictable with it, but when you do manage it, you can easily continue your offence.

After Standing C, you can use Crouching C, which then can be dash-canceled; this pressure is good because you can start your combos it all over again (Hehe, if it succeeds).

But realisticly, after 5C, you can do whatever you want; go for low, high, a chain knuckle, Sword, Orb... You could experiment a bit; the trick is to be unpredictable. Unpredictable enough that even during a Labrys mirror, the oppoent can't see what's coming.

Crouching C, apart from it's purpose used in pressure, doesn't have much of an other purpose. It's too slow to be used as an anti-air, so I wouldn't really bother.

Standing D is very similar to Standing C in way; they're both used to continue your offence. The only difference is that 5D is probably better when your opponent  is in the corner. And you can be more cocky with moves because you can throw out Brutal Impact & All-out Attacks safely lol.

Just take this with a grain of salt, it is all personal opinion after all!

Cool. Next questions u see other labrys' go from a FC dp reset into 2a. Is there anyway to help me with the timing of this? Seems that I have to do 2a as soon she recovers from the dp but I still miss it most of the

While in red axe AA > 2B > 214AB > FC DP > 2A > 2B.... I don't remember the rest of it but that's pretty much from start to the point I cant execute.

Why 2A? Simply go for 5A - 2B. Imo the timing is easier :)

And here i am struggling. TYTY

If you still have trouble, wait until the opponent falls a bit over/at your head to press 5A.

Edit: I just tried and you can honestly mash the 5A and it'll work.

Can I ask a question? I bought persona just yesterday. And I'm at dillemenia. I like to play regular labrys or elisabeth atm, but I keep hearing that Labrys is god awful(at least thats what i've heard). Can someone explain to me if Labrys is god awful as people say she is and explain why?

I know tiers ahould influence character choices, but I want to know what im looking at.

Neither of them are really top tier, but as long as you enjoy them really.

Labrys has massive normals and high damage combos, but suffers from a few things: poor speed, a sub-par DP, and being very reliant on offensive momentum. Her 2B is also fairly slow, so she has to watch out for jump-ins despite its range. Her defensive options are either awkward and/or cost meter, and unlike say, Naoto, her normals aren't fast enough to mash out of a lot of pressure either.

When she's dominating she can be very threatening, but when forced on the defensive her options are fairly limited. Her comeback window isn't as potent as Liz either, as she needs to build up to red axe to really become threatening, while Liz can be dangerous as soon as she hits Awakening.

She'll get better if we ever get 2.0, however.

There are no god awful characters in Persona, so long as you put in the work to be a great player with your character. If you plan on picking up Labrys, I highly recommend becoming BFFs with the Labrys Skype Group and being as vocal as possible with your troubles, concerns and desires for advice. There are quite a few very talented Labrys players in there that are very active and are always very helpful.
