[Xrd] News & Gameplay Discussion 2 - Console is Out!

Recommended Posts

Can we get some patch notes? I would love to not go into a game blind when it's already been out.

Sorry to break this to you, but I'm afraid that (assuming your listed location is accurate) because we live in America we don't, according to some, deserve patch notes.

What a bummer. I guess the money we spent on the game doesn't mean anything.

You guys sure are taking a free patch's changes not being told to us very personally. Kinda worrying how much self entitlement there is to free shit in here. Probably the type of people to complain about getting free $10 because the guy next to you got $20

It's more like people are looking for an excuse to drop the game.

What are the opinions of the top tiers post-patch? Faust, Milia, Zato and Elphelt. Mainly for king of heart unless someone is reading Japanese twitters.

Elphelt and Milia are still good.

Ramlathal is definitely out.

There wasn't any Zato in yesterday's tournament.

I think Zato will go down unless Ogawa discovers some new shit.

Ky or Sol might jump to the top

Edit:

I heard that Ogawa did whine a lot about Slayer and Axl.

Maybe he's over reacting!

People are entitled to their opinions on the game they bought with their money, and are free (and encouraged) in a consumer market to voice their displeasure when a developer or publisher acts in a way they don't like. A lack of communication from a developer or publisher is something that is entirely reasonable to be upset with.

And it's Arc system's fault that you live in America ?

The change list was in Japanese.

It wasn't made for you from the beginning anyway.

This post is borderline ethnic elitism, rubbing it in the face of the filthy American pigdogs. The only reason these filthy apes want the patch notes could be that they want a reason to drop the game. This is the kind of stuff that makes fans upset--look at Sega.

So, is there anyone working on actually translating the notes?

This is a positive definition of "Whining"

No, that is the definition of a normal consumer-creator relationship. Am I too assume you gladly swallow down whatever a developer shits out with a smiling grin on your face, unblinking? Remember, complaining about the taste is just whining.

They want people do discover changes by themselves to get feed backs from smart people only.

I really wonder how you people used to live before 2013 ?

It sorta is halfassed for Aksys (or whoever does the notes originally) to post notes in Japanese when they clearly made the game in another language, too. Easier or not, it's just doesn't make sense. If they truly felt this way why wouldn't they just create the Japanese console version and force us to import regardless of previous history of the game? Clearly there is some semblance of compassion for us right? So why not continue the support that was started or don't start it at all, or conflicts like this arise.

On the other hand, complaining (and I'm not saying this in a derogatory way, but complaining is complaining) about what is basically a tradition will not change much. We really should be grateful that we get ANY care at all. Small profit or no, these particular devs don't have to cater to our every whim, and not because we aren't the primary demographic they are appealing to, but because they simply do not have to. We have nice enough people here to translate for us, and unlike Aksys they don't halfass us, but they could of they wanted to, they could give notes to who they so choose. And instead they decide to share it across the community for everyone to see.

So while I personally see the point in being upset about not getting the full support of the game we fully support in turn, perhaps the argument has been blown a bit out of proportion, because over time, solutions have been and will continue to made on our half, because we are resourceful creatures.

Fucking christ, this is getting blown out of proportion.

Not pining for full patch notes =/= not wanting patch notes, and is not supportive of Capcom releasing patch notes that they claim to be comprehensive - but aren't. Not getting a comprehensive patch note for a version upgrade just released in Japan yesterday, that other regions don't have access to =/= America's not getting patch notes, or imply any ethnocentric elitism.

Is this thread for real right now?

Except the patch note was already released in Japanese, so unless ArcSys/Aksys has specific feelings about America, that is not true.

also worth noting, American players won't discover the changes themselves. The game will have been out in Japanes arcades for  along time before a US release. Players that are interested will slowly find out changes based on information from Japanese players. There is no discovery here.

Exactly.

I don't know what you have been arguing about!

I don't care who finds what, first. I just don't like comprehensive info dumps, period. Even if I'm following the game's development from the sidelines, I'd like to know that everything fresh hasn't been handed to us on a silver platter from the outset. But whatever, to each their own.

I'm just here to defend a basic consumer right from criticism ,and to explain that the line of ArcSys wants players to find out stuff first is contradictory with single language patch notes.

My personal opinion is more in line with TD's post.

@Synikal: I'm sorry if my posts came off in such a way as you interpreted them. My comment of ethnocentrism was not directed at ArcSys/Aksys. No intention blow anything out here.

There's a big difference in knowing how the game works and knowing how to apply these rules in gameplay. Withholding information will of course keep the "arcade experience" intact but is ultimately pointless, simple as that. The users will eventually find every minute change out, but they will have to waste time researching every possible change instead of how it may factor into gameplay. Isn't that silly?

Dev knows the changes made, they have them documented even. I don't mind not having them translated, but not having them at all is nothing but a middle finger to the audience and equal to not informing the users of game's control scheme...

Personally I don't care about the current state of the game and info on it. I will wait for console version, and info about how many issues were fixed. Still, if you don't like comprehensive info dumps you can just refrain from reading them.

I don't think anyone here doesn't want them.

But complaining about not getting them is what i think is ridiculous!

As far as this whole patch notes debate is concerned, I feel like it's a bit of a stretch to call people "spoiled" or "entitled" for what, in 2015, is a common business practice at this point.  Capcom does it.  Namco does it.  NRS does it.  Team Ninja does it.  ASW themselves did it for BBCP 1.1 and P4AU 2.0 when they launched because Xie translated them all.  If you like discovering things on your own, that's your right, but everybody doesn't have to think like you do.  Just for the record, Capcom put some "ninja changes" in the 1.04 patch for USF4, so they don't always fully document everything either.  That being said, nobody should be punching walls because, right now, 1.1 doesn't matter to the majority of us, since we don't have a release or even a window, of when this patch is coming to consoles.  I'm just gonna sit back, watch every Ram video I can get my hands on, and see what happens.  I would like something closer to console release though, but I'm confident that, so I'm chill.  Sad to hera that everyone's dropping my girl like a stone, especially since she was the only character that got my hyped for this game in the first place, especially since Elphelt, Milia and Faust seem to be sitting pretty, as king has said, but from what little footage I've seen of her, she doesn't seem to be on that Makoto Nanaya status quite yet, so I'm remaining optimistic.  I asked James Xie about her on Twitter, and his response to me was, "She seems to have lost a lot of her traits that made it easy to win/steal matches, so she is not as attractive to play."  So I'd imagine it's either her not being S Tier anymore, or her becoming boring now.  For my sake I hope it's the former, because I think she's a blast to play.  :)

While we're on the subject of asking about early character impressions, is I-No riding Marlene to the penthouse with all those buffs she's seemingly getting, or did some get reverted in the final build?

Hasegawa told me that she didn't change that much.

It's a matter of scale imo. Since files on that exist it's hard to even excuse devs as being lazy. Plus, we got changelogs for loketests but not final release. That together makes people frustrated and I understand that. As always ofc, calling for boycott or shouting obscenities or just resorting to good old internet ad hominems is a waste of time.

On topic of 1.1, it was cathartic to see pinberry go away when Elph was hit. And Bedman is looking scary with jump cancellable 1/2/3H. All in all my bet is that Elph is just the flavour of the month though. She's obviously much stronger than Leo and Sin and a top tier character overall, but with fixes she got she's far from unbalanced and initial rush to play her will soon die out. We might see three or four new Elph specialists from Japan but it's nothing to complain about.

They are?

How does that follow from *anything* anyone has said here?
