[CT-CSE] Critique my Jin Thread. Post videos of yourself playing and get advice

Recommended Posts

Yo~

I have fun playing BB again and I need to step up my game. Asking for advice based of one match is probably a bit difficult but this was the only one I saved. Most of our matches went similar to this. I win 1st round, 2nd I almost have and in the final round I get completely beat up.

(shitty mobile cam incoming): vs Hazama

Thanks in advance.

I think you could have won that if you didn't drop that combo in the third round. Also, you could have done a throw RC combo off that reset that would have put you close to even.

Dat burst bait fail in round 2 aha :I

I feel like you were overly anxious in the corner, even when Hazama had full meter and bursts.

Honestly, that's the only thing I noticed that stood out match up wise, I can tell you're a really solid Jin player from what I saw though.

Video quality was better than expected :P

Yeah, actually at 1080p the video quality was pretty good for a phone cam.

that failed burst bait 2nd round, dropped throw combo and missed crouch 5b hit confirm 3rd round fucked you pretty hard, well played overall

@Jyosua - Yeah well, that throw RC stuff is one of those things I hardly ever do. Gotta keep that in mind.

@Lucien / xlol - Haha yeah that failed burst bait was unnecessary. Overly anxious? As in trying to jump out of the corner?

Thanks again, guys.

Overly anxious as in you got really dead set on pressuring lol.

I was waiting for Hazama to Jayoku through your mixup at one point aha, that's nothing too serious though.

it seems like, against lambda, you forgot that the 4+ABC option select exists. I think you should be ready to use this whenever you see lambda use that move where she teleports next to you (was it 236A? I forget.) or on wake-up, as it is common to get thrown at those times and the option select will keep you safe if they don't throw you, as you won't go through a throw whiff animation and will block. You seem to be pretty good though. Probably better than me, at least.

@Kid Most has been said by the comments of the Hexanoid video about the meter spending and the bursts. For the comment about counter assaults, I don't blame you about not counter assaulting since I never did until I started playing Relius as a sub :v:

vs Hexanoid:

Most the round losses were when lambda caught you whiffing j.Cs here and there watch out for that.

But overall you were doing fine, I liked that kept on taking advantage of him trying to tech your throw baits and respecting your jump cancels. The CH 6B's and pressure was killing him quickly.

vs IxisNagus

Man those totsukas lol. For the crossunders with 214A, watch out to not get stuck in the corner. Not much I can give advice here as I'm not that good vs Mu, except instant block a bit more(or at important moments like 3C,2nd hit 6B,lasers) and maybe add more 2D/fubuki for spacing.

edit:

Although the thing I know about this matchup from doing matches vs pochp's mu, is that making your approach being grounded is safer. You also have access to more moves while grounded and can beat her j.C with most AAs jin has especially 2A.

Also I feel your pain: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVlTqMIawFY&feature=player_detailpage#t=736s

I can't really say anything about your habit of (jump cancel move)>j.A>j.2C>j.C since it worked most of the time but maybe you can change it up with IAD 236D or the classic corner 5B IAD j.2C.

Hey all, I'd like some advice on my matches against Valkenhayn, because i'm starting to find this match-up quite impossible all of a sudden. I play at 58s and 14:30 here

I'd appreciate it if you can comment more on the match up and what I should be doing, rather than Inconsistancies I plan to iron out real soon. I was playing really inconsistantly that day, so ignore that for now. I feel as though i'm at too much of a disadvantage at neutral, due to Jin's lack of range. I can't jump in because i'd get stuffed by [w]5B. Throwing ground ice swords carries it's own risk due to them having tons of recovery. It makes it such an easy approach for a valkenhayn player to get in when they react to ground ice swords. A ice sword is slow can be reacted to by jumping over. Even though that has the recovery B ice sword lacks, Valkenhayn can still get in for free, even if he doesn't get a CH, he's still in and can begin offense.

Moving on to keeping valkenhayn out. A fubuki seems to work sometimes against valkenhayn for obvious approaching, but just like any DP, can be baited by the more competant players. Valkenhayn excels in this department as he is able to use wolf faints to faint approaches and bait DPs. Ice swords can work wonders against valkenhayn when used sparingly, but even they carry their own risk, whether it be valkenhayn being able to just run underneath it and catch my landing recovery with [w]5A/5B, or being able to just fly over it. j.236D can be reacted to by using a 4C for the invincibility and come in to punish.

All in all, I feel like a sitting duck, waiting for valkenhayn to come and rape me.

Once Valkenhayn gets in, I have a hard time dealing with his mix-up because anyone that's played a decent valk should know that his mix-up is bullshit. I find that the longer i sit in block, the higher the chances are of me getting hit...so we now come to DPs. C DP is obviously a no-no on wake up because of the OS valk has against it, and the rest of the cast for that matter. By the time I have meter to do shit, I find that my life is already at or below 50%. It's not bad blocking on my part, it's just valkenhayn ._.

Even Yukikaze I don't find as effective, as valkenhayn can cancel attacks during the superflash (as you'll see in the video). Stagger pressure keeps me honest on block. CG makes me wanna DP..playing into the valk's hands in trying to bait it. His mix-up is unblockable. So i guess the question is.. wut do?

Is this match-up really that unwinnable? Even the japanese struggle with it. I'd like to hear what you all think, i'd really appreciate your feedback so i can stop getting bopped by Valk. My take on this is that I just have to yomi all my shit, because nothing seems to be working, but i don't know how far off I am from that. I also think that playing really unconventionally and random sometimes works, like the random gold bursts etc, but I don't know if playing unconventionally is Kiba specific or Valkenhayn specific.

Obviously everything was building up to that last throw in the last match of when i got robbed of the tournament ;;

Hey all, I'd like to get some tips on how to do my Jin better, as well as how to actually combo things and what I should be doing in situations that I'm not doing now. Here are two vids I uploaded two months back. These are all CPU matches by the way, because I don't have online or anyone at home to play against.

pretty solid. you seem to go for the 5A resets a lot and it didnt' work out for you in this set of matches. you can try air combo > purple throw to control how they recover in the air.

i'd suggest finding videos of you losing: you often learn more from a loss than a win

I think I know most of my problems but I might have missed something. Here are some matches:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAZOEH7WYBA (This one gets laggy towards the end)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j629BKWOiTk

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDqFSop2ULk

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLs1Ngda1u4

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=toudVhUua6w

Too much 6C, 6B and Crush Trigger in pressure, could also use less 6A, 214D, 3C and 5D, I shouldn't be using 214B at all in pressure, should be using more stuff like cross-up j.D and TK j.214D. Bad defense overall(I need to anti-air, handle pressure better and block better), I need better neutral handling and spacing. Gotta stop air dashing in just to get anti-air'd. I need to bait more DPs and bursts and should probably be jumping less in general. If there's anything else I need the work on then let me know. I will say though, most of these matches were done extremely late and I was exhausted so there's some pretty dumb stuff lol.

Lots of Jin play- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0J0zbO12mig feedback is welcomed!

I like the part where I get bodied lol

Not much to critique here other than some missed hit-confirms, which happens to everyone at some point or another.

At least I got some self-critique out of this: I need to space my shit better, that whiffed 6A and 5C at the end of that match hurt to watch lol.

@Dawn - other than all the stuff that you mentioned, practice your hit-confirms. You scored a lot of CHs and confirmed into questionable stuff, that one j.C CH into 5D for example. I die a little inside whenever I see people confirm a 6B CH with a run-up 5B when they would have gotten so much damage off a 6B CH > 6C.
