Millia Vs Axl

I'm still pretty new to Guilty Gear in general, but when it comes to fighting Axl in Xrd - I feel pretty lost.

 

Could someone write a basic breakdown of how this match-up should go? Ways of getting in..what to watch out for, etc?

 

His DP seems to be pretty good, and recovers real fast on whiff too - so it often goes unpunished. His 2.HS is super annoying too.

Airdash in, throw a pin. Easy win.

DP is annoying but iirc the easiest way to bait it was to just avoid it altogether during disc oki (eg with straight junp) and let him get tagged by the disc. Secret Garden oki should also help.

Reversal Super can be baited the same. It's also worthless against secret garden and it's throwable.

All in all, Axl has a pretty hard time keeping you out due to the hairpin. Abuse that like there's no tomorrow.

Should you get pegged a lot that means Axl is reading you pretty well. Try to make him guess which way you're come from. Careful with your Instant Air Dashes (IADs) because if you land behind him and next to him.. you're getting thrown. Also be prepared to use Faultless Defense in the air if you're going to tech or just double jump towards him. You can't IAD and block at the same time so just keep that in mind. 

If he's trying to do 2H into that stupid overhead -most- axl's do.. You can Blitz him or you can 5P it. Try to Just Defend / Instant Blockit to lower the frames on block.

ill add that he has really good AA's so stay out of the air unless you are going in. if he hits you then your are losing a lot of hp

2H(2) into 6H from ~max distance (starting positions) can be punished by instant blocking the 2nd hit of 2H and then doing 5D.

 

If he does 2H(2) 5D instead it will be a neutral situation.

 

Another possibility with 25 tension is to instant block 2H, then dash in and see what he does. Both 6H and 5D can be BSed on reaction, if he did nothing instead he'll be at frame disadvantage and you can start pressuring him.

If they like pressing buttons afterwards tag them with f.5S 5H 2D. When they start respecting, you go in deeper and FD brake -> throw them.

Dashing in after blocked 2H will however be tagged if they canceled 2H into rensen, so be aware of that option.
