Potemkin vs May

MU is fairly even, if not slightly in May's favor. A lot of your time is going to be spent trying to catch her and preventing her from setting up for free (without spending meter)

 

In Neutral:

You can easily slidehead when she tries to call a dolphin or a beachball (without a YRC). If she's in the air, slowly approach her and punish her for using up her air options with a slidehead or heat fist or 6P if she tries to air dash in. If she gets away with a beachball, it's very easy to flick once you know recognize the pattern at which falls. The dolphin is a little more difficult as she can hop on it to punish your flick and get a free approach/combo in.

 

Poke with your normals if May is deciding to play a more grounded game as your reach trumps hers.

 

In Defense:

- You cannot punish her if she ends the blockstring in dolphin charge. The pushback is still much and the recovery is fairly low. If she's using a predictable string, you can hammerfall to eat the dolphin hit and punish her with that.

 

- Keep in mind she has no overheads outside of 6K and dust both of which are very short ranged. Mays tend to use their overheads in the beginning of the string or within the first couple of hits to be spaced properly. Mays are more likely to use 6K as she can't combo after without a dolphin lined up or RC so be more ready to look for it if she knocks you down for oki game.

 

- You cannot punish her j.2H if you block it while grounded rather she is fairly plus after landing and is allowed free pressure afterwards. Get adjusted to the animation and blitz it to avoid having to guess the crossup and giving her a free way in. I believe if you jump and block it, you can air throw her on the way down or if you're somehow close enough throw her normally. This move has no landing recovery so Pot buster is only possible if May is not attempting to jump after landing.

 

- Be careful of her command grab, it's throw invulnerable and only has 4 frames of startup. Punish it like people punish Potemkin for throwing, jump out or BD or megafist backwards.

 

On Offense:

- She has no real reversal options. Her whale super is not throw invulnerable and her other supers can be beat with meaties or jumped out of and then punished. Her backdash, however, is very fast and is difficult to punish outside of the corner.
