TD has bee wrecking my shit extra hard recently.

Honesty and Pointers please, This is old but still comment, and that horrible burst at the end was intended to be gold. I tend to do terrible against match ups i dont play often.

Taokak/Arakune/Rachel/Makoto/ and Platinum.

@Jason: I'll try and point some things out, but I don't think I'll have everything. I think this is pretty accurate though.

Vs Omni

Well the first video wasn't much to say in particular. I don't know much about Makoto though. Afaik your buttons are pretty much gonna beat hers, but I can't give actual help. I guess that burst you did on the Squirrel Tail in the first video was supposed to be the gold one?.

2nd video (1st match vs TD)

I can say at the beginning when TD did his 2nd combo and pushed you away you got a bit scared it seems. Even more so at the beginning of the next round. I know it's Rachel, and even worse it's TD, but you sat there way too long and had George hit you while Rachel was fullscreen. I'm gonna say you were mind-fucked, but you would know better than me. You don't have to go full derp, but fear is like the worst thing you want to have against Rachel. Lets her setup more stuff.

You jumped a lot and didn't seem to pay attention to whether or not a pumpkin was out. Pumpkin stopped you a few times and pretty much got TD started. Respect the pumpkin. If you're going to jump in then jump so that you have another air action so you can airdash/double jump in hopes of making the pumpkin miss. Even if you aren't the position to hit her, she still wasted wind, and that's a win in my books.

2nd video (2nd match vs TD)

It seem like you were trying to dodge his lightning rods by stopping and super jumping? At least it looked like that. Just dash and barrier block. I noticed was you didn't take advantage of TD messing up his combo @ 21:42. You were fullscreen yes, but you jumped in the air for no real reason and again you could have just canceled your dash with barrier block and kept positioning if you felt like he was going to attack back.

3rd match there isn't much to say. Looks like dropped combos and TD getting out of the corner was the main problem.

I can relate to your troubles with TD. I think most of the battle is you having to pay attention cause one wrong mistake and Rachel gets started. At the same time, not doing much/anything results in Rachel doing whatever she wants. If you can keep an eye on the wind meter and what is already out, then you can have a good idea of what might happen next and can move forward w/o worry or at least be ready for it.

Hope this helps.

My Ragna needs help, I feel like I have a bunch of bad habits from playing Mu (like being in the air so much). I know I need to work on those combos, I was screwing up my dashes and jumps a bit, but any advice would be appreciated.

http://www.twitch.tv/bibiquadium/b/326375504 (2 matches at 1:08:40, 3 at 1:27:19, and well I wasn't playing as seriously so prob not worth watching but 2 matches at 1:00)

After watching the matches, in terms of your ragna, there isn't really much to comment on. I think your Ragna is ok. You certainly have a general knowledge about how ragna is meant to be played, and what he is capable of. Your Pressure wasn't too linear. There were a few things that caught my eye however.

You tend to use Hells Fang A lot on block. There were a few match where you spent 100 Heat on blockstrings involving HF. Unwise use of HF is what caused you to spend that much heat. Try not to use HF too much on block and know your opponent. For example, after a blocked 6C, if you know your opponent is going to mash buttons, then you can use HF...or even TK DS. That's just an example. The 100 meter you spent consisted of 1 overhead and no other high-low mix up, so in the end, it was kind of a waste of heat.

Optimize your combos. It seems that you don't really know all of Ragna's combos yet. This can be improved on just by looking at the combo thread and learning as much combos as you can.

Tager:

- For some reason, when using a combo on Tager in the corner, after a DS, 5C tends to whiff sometimes, i actually don't know why. Might be better to go for 2C instead. Saw you whiff some moves on tager after DS or such in the corner.

- Possibly one of the best combos to use on Tager mid-screen if you are close enough is:

[66 5B > 5C > jc > j.B > j.C > j.D] x2 > 66 5B > 3C > 22C

Nets you 3. something K..forgot the exact amount.

Also just work on combos in general.

Long time no see everyone, just putting forth a little bit more effort in CSE since I didn't get quite moved with P4U (matter of fact I don't really like the game). Some training led to some good results in my past fights that I became a little complacent in combat. Met a random Bang (Noel main by other friends) and got whupped by them, sort of. My inputs sort of became sloppy that I new some mistakes were recognizeable but I'll take any help I can get.

p.s.- Thinking of making a new channel after UNiB and BBCP drops so keep up if you like the video quality and combat.

Me (Ragna) vs my friend Blade (Hakumen)

We were both pretty rusty. Blade recorded the videos on his phone I believe? So that's why the quality isn't the greatest. They're watchable though.

@ Sadeyo

You can easily punish daifunka just by blocking it and then punishing with 2C for big easy damage. At one point you did an overhead combo and went into BK right away. You might just want to just go for a normal corner combo such as this: 6B 5C 6C (DC) 6D (JC) j.C j.214c 6B 214D 2C 5D 623D(1)~Wallbound (CU) 3C~ It would have you given you just about the same amount of damage and you would have gotten to keep a lot more heat to save for ya! Just something to think about for future matches. Also never taunt unless you're playing for shits and giggles. Try ending your combos with hells fang more- even if you don't always do the follow-up midscreen. You do make some nice hit confirms in this match though, so that's really good of you!

I watched the first two videos and I'll get to the others after I get some more available time but you really have to hit up the training room. Your approach is too far predictable and your momentum strongly lacks in making Ragna a threatening character. Your neutral game is poor and your hit confirm needs to be strongly improved, that lack of rtsd you miss out on punishing options on some CH's. Did you recently pick up the character or been using him since the CT days?

You're style of combat is what Tager would normally say, " Blinded by power."

RTSD? Don't know what that means. I've been using him since CT, but I haven't really put the REAL time and effort into BB until now since I finally have people to play. Sure I learned combos and anything but I don't have as much match-up experience.

I've faced Blade a lot and the one thing he's told me is that I'm too defensive at times since in the Ragna vs Hakumen match-up it seems like one has to stay on top of the other to keep the momentum in their hands. So I guess my question then is what can I do to be less predictable?

l don't play ragna but i've seen more than enough of his scrawny ass over the years to know a few things. l would say, it's not that youre overly defensive as much as youre stilk familiarizing yourself with him. to rushdown with ragna you need to know what tools work when.

briefly. 5b, 5c, j.c, hells fang (risky w/o heat) - these are your tools for establishing dominance. use these as a means of approach and to start pressure.

5a, 6a, j.a - these are your primary AA's (he has a few situational ones). use to deter aggressive air approaches. properly AAing will give your foe less to work with so you can approach with your strong normals.

once you manage to get in, your pressure increases as your fundamentals does. first, condition the foe with frametraps (2a stagger, 2a 2c) for mashing, lows (2b, 3c) for anti-jump, and throws. occasionally leave small enough holes to bait dp's so you don't look free. lastly, mixups. get creative. (j.c 6b, 2b 3c tk GH, 2a 5a(w) throw, there are a few possibilities).

Yes to everything TD is saying. It's important to be random with Ragna, his pressure is shenanigans, especially when he has 50+ heat. But yes in order to be random you must know what tools work best for shenanigans.

I just started playing blazblue a few months ago and I've greatly increased since starting to the point where I can do ridiculous combos in and out of training mode. But I have reached a level where I'm not getting better with Ragna I've been to a few local tournaments nothing big or spectacular but enough to show myself I'm not horrible. I don't know if its the mind game I need to work on or pressure mix ups. I sometimes surprise myself in matches cause I honestly think I am not that good but I can handle myself against veteran players.

Another Ragna video of myself in action from the XBL side so now I can welcome competition from both ends. There's careless mistake found in the video but it's just me getting used to my arcade stick again since I won't play the 360 controller. I use the adapter more often but it seems like everyone wants to chat on XBL.

Critique or enjoy the video.

Edit- Part 2 been added and I saved myself the trouble of making another post.

So I finally took this game online for the first time last week. I've got a few matches recorded, and I wanted some critic on the (many) things I could improve.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQqfB78ZeoI&feature=youtu.be

You should probably keep in mind that this is the first time I've ever fought anyone in this game lol. I'll have more sets up soon.

I should also probably mention that I'm the Rags in white.

I should also probably mention that I'm the Rags in white.

1. Do combos. For the air combos, you should practice recognizing when you need to super jump, normal jump or double jump as well as when to use C or D.

2. Play against not scrubs. That guy was throwing out DP's more than any other move. Don't hesitate to upload videos of you losing, as your loses are definitely the best time for critiquing.

3. Press buttons when you need to.

4. Don't press buttons when you shouldn't.

5. Jump less. Against good players, jumping too much and too predictably makes you vulnerable to anti-airs. While jumping attacks may be strong, being in the air generally reduces your options. This is something I struggle with. Ragna wasn't born with wings for a reason.

6. Just press some goddamn buttons and get used to the game. Not much more to say than keep playing, learn your character and your opponents.

7. Ragna can't count this high. But thankfully he doesn't have to. Be happy you chose Ragna, and not some complex character like Carl or some shit :yaaay:
