Apparently the fucking fanbase doesn't mind about SF being milked to death... and letting Darkstalkers (and, in consequence, other awesome franchises) get olimpically ignored.

I'm not expecting anything from Capcom anymore :mad:

I don't like that anyway. When the consumer has to beg the developer to MAKE something, that is already a big fail on the part of the developer. They need to find ways to please US, not the other way around.

Your quote is pretty much spot on. And crap like this is why I hate Capcom. They were vaguely tolerable back in the day, and yeah, it was about the money in the end, but at least they felt the need to put up the pretense of making money via providing gamers with what they wanted. Their business practice towards their customer base now is just extortion.

They shake a finger at us from Dr. Wily's HQ and blatantly tell us that we don't get what we want until we can pony up the cash. It's like it's never dawned on them that if they made the game, and gee, I don't know, had some sort of cheap internet marketing campaign, maybe held a few officially sponsored tournaments/ranbats that the Capcom fantard fuckmuppets would probably flock to the game and they'd break even and much more? Which brings me to my main point:

It doesn't matter. This is Capcom's way of saying "we have absolutely no desire to make this game". When you consider it that SFIV sold 3,000,000 plus copies world wide, and VS was never even close to Street Fighter's popularity anywhere but Japan (not even the 1/3rd he's talking about anywhere else).

He is setting an impossible hurdle. And he knows that.

I don't think we are going to be getting one million signatures. If they wanted to make they game, they would just make it, then it is THEIR job to advertise the game... Not ours. :|

I don't think we are going to be getting one million signatures. If they wanted to make they game, they would just make it, then it is THEIR job to advertise the game... Not ours. :|

To be honest, as much as I love VS, I'm not sure I want Capcom to make another Darkstalkers. I'd be too afraid they'd mess it up. 90s Capcom > 00s Capcom.

From the developer stand point, what's the point in bring back a series from it's 13 year dirtnap which at best only has a cult following? It's not a shoe in for success like Street Fighter and the VS games. Capcom has been a poor job in keeping series relevant as characters from outside of Morrigan and Felicia don't appear outside of their titular series. I understand them wanting a huge fan demand for a sequel before starting development of one.

Well at UFGT7 in Chicago, May 2011 Keits is running a VSav exhbition/tournament for people to watch and see how the game is played so hopefully later on in the future we can get a new scene started to give the game the chance it deserves in America since it was kinda swept to the side. Maybe even start up enough support from Capcom to get a new Darkstalkers on the way.

But for sure, come join the GGPO room.

I so love the darkstalkers series and wondered why it hasn't received the reboot it deserved. The people have the technology to emulate all those crazy animations. I mean we see more Morrigan in Vs. than in her original series.

On the real though, Capcom actually made a lot of Darkstalkers games considering that it really WAS just a game with a cult following. And would you guys REALLY wanna see the cast of VS redone with blocky SF4 style models? ;^P

He only was in sound management for 3rd Strike, and one of the producers for Capcom Fighting Evolution. :psyduck: :vbang:

He became producer of Capcom Fighting Evolution after the previous producer quit and the game was already late into development when he came on board. He cannot be contributed to how terrible that game turned out.

I disagree about Capcom of today being 'fail'. As a matter of fact, Capcom today is better as a company than they were back in the 90s. Their relationship with the US branch isn't crap anymore, the localizations of their games have gotten so much better, better marketing, their relationship with the fanbase has increase tenfold and developing games that appeal to a global market rather than a domestic one.

There are more and more people playing on GGPO every day. There's a Vampire Savior thread on SRK that geared towards attracting new people to the game (it seems many many people are interested in it but there aren't many actual players). Nowadays we're getting around 30 people at peak times.
