[CT] Taokaka Video Thread 2.0

Recommended Posts

Good stuff, boss! I have a new update coming in a few hours since there are a couple of new japanese vids around, featuring evergreen Keita, and recent discovery Mao. And of course dustloopers' vids will be added to the list as well. :kitty

Does anyone else think a new thread for critique of those still learning is a good idea? It seems weird to put my stuff up here with the pros...

I put up a hefty amount of videos. Some from over a month ago, and some from last week. I think there's some definite improvement, but still a long way to go... Constructive criticism is welcome.

Here's a couple combo video gems I stumbled upon.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6pJ9CCVN8c

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79vlx3ILyIo

Video 1 is mostly stuff we've seen before, but there's a few new things. Video 2 is full of new tricks. The damage isn't great on a lot of the combos, but we might be able to steal some ideas to better some current combos. Crazy use of RCs, and I think there's some TK Cat Spirit 2 in there, or at the very least, JC -> j.236b.

Video two, combo 0:49; I wanna learn that one.:yaaay:

(5b -> 5c -> 236aa -> 5d -> RC) x2 -> 5b -> 5c -> 236aa -> 5d (~3.5k)

Doesn't seem worth the 100% meter, but it seems you can start just about any combo after the RCs.

5b -> 5c -> 236aa -> 5d -> RC -> Taunt combo?

That might be worth looking into...

The combo on Jin at around 3:06 (video 2) is pretty slick. It breaks 4k (4071) before the air throw.

6c -> 5d~a -> 5c -> 2d -> 5d -> j.c -> 5d~c -> 5d~a -> 8d~6 -> j.236bb -> j.b+c -> Taunt -> 214214c

After the air throw is kind of pointless, but the beginning is what I like. You even have another "jump" left over, so you might be able to tack on another j.c -> 8d~6 before Cat Spirit 2. I'll have to try this out later.

that 2nd video, the one that looks all fancy, looks more like a technical exercise than anything else; not a whole lot of it seems usable or desirable to execute in an actual match...especially if its an online match with lag. seems like an awful lot of effort for damage that you could whip out with less chance for error with a simpler, easier to execute combo. nonetheless, it's very fancy and fun to watch though =3.

Thanks for posting the combo. I had a pretty good idea, but this helps me from looking at the video over & over. lawl.:yaaay:

It kind of feels like I'm only good enough to realize how badly I play while watching these replays. It's frustrating at times.

The Tao mirror match is pretty much an exhibition of everything you shouldn't do while playing Tao... Half of me wants to laugh, because it's just comically bad, and half of me wants to :vbang: because one of those Taos was me...

I know how you feel Lurch lol. I find it better to focus on the things you straight never see used with other Tao's. Like, I try to 2D people out of the air too often (got addicted to Arakune counter) and still have problems with trying to not poke out of pressure, and its just something that will go away with more offline matches. For you, I would say the main issue is trying to highlight Pounce Super (if the accidental 22C's are any indicator) too much, and using 3C in blockstrings (although I will admit its ok to do sometimes- we cant control our human urge to dial combos) Geez, Tao mirrors are just an urge to D Spam.

Another slew of replays uploaded by me. I ran into a level 60 Tao a while back, and had a pretty good match. Still a fair amount of mistakes, but definitely much better than my last mirror match...

I think I turned a corner this weekend. There seemed to be fewer glaring mistakes. I also tried adding a few new tricks to my repertoire. I also landed my first successful taunt combo online in the last Noel video at the very end, so I was really happy about that. I hope I can keep this up.

I recognized your name and was like "oh, a DL member!". I was wondering when you were going to upload this haha:keke:.

I was pretty bad during this match. Couldn't make my mind up on whether to try some stuff or play it safe(blue connection), and that led to a bunch of retarded half done or dropped combos. It was fun though. If I remember and you have space, I'll add you later. I'm really just a mediocre Tao that has played a lot.

I'm glad you beat that 2ND Noel. I fought him in my first ranked match and he D-spammed me to death. I had no clue how to deal with it back then. I got my revenge but for some reason it still feels really good seeing him lose:yaaay:.

I made a video about Super Flash Buffering with Tao. The original was taken off YouTube because of my background music (jerks), but I reuploaded it with regular audio. For those of you who want to rock out a little instead of hearing 4 minutes of Tao's DD cries, I'm putting up the original video on Rapidshare.

I suppose I'll put my last set of uploaded matches in here, too. I feel like I'm flooding the thread a bit, but I'm getting some good advice and no one's told me to get my scrubby ass out of here yet, so I suppose I'll keep it up.

Props ronove, this thread rocks. Even tho I'm pretty dead, I still enjoy watching and cheering for Tao's from the sidelines :3

haha I remember playing both lurch_e_bean and death134dzhonor on psn. I don't play online much because lag ruins most of taokaka combos. We should one day spam taokaka mirror matches .
