Tari Report post Posted December 3, 2009 Well, he's Mike Z. That kinda explains why he can make it to top 8. It's like Dora's CT Bang.. He's the one exception who can do reasonably well in tournaments despite playing an underpowered character. Chances are that someone might end up being that type of person with CS Rachel.. Anyway, my hype died down as soon as I heard the voice for the new announcer. That. While I've learned to ignore her since, she was not a good first impression for the game, haha. ssj2jeff Report post Posted December 3, 2009 imo bang was under rated in CT. they hardly changed him in CS and look at him now. i think rachel may pass as a decent run away character with wind effectin her frog and air iris. it'll be a challenge winning consistently though against crazy rush down characters like bang, ragna and litchi though. Kuuhaku Report post Posted December 3, 2009 I think it was someone else who said- Biggest nerf in this game was voice acting. Uh... Rachel may evolve into something playable, but probably not something decent or really anything you'd want to enter a tourney with if you had other options. ryokoalways Report post Posted December 3, 2009 imo bang was under rated in CT. they hardly changed him in CS and look at him now. He got tweaked a lot. Most of his moves became better, safer, and more comboable. He got major buffs.

Rachel may evolve into something playable, but probably not something decent or really anything you'd want to enter a tourney with if you had other options. It wouold kind of be funny (in a sad unfunny way:P ) if people discovered some sort of unbeatable tricks to do a bit of damage and then run away for timeout with Rachel. And she ends up being top tier in CS because of her unstoppable timeout game :P I dunno, like some way to wind high into the sky and then stay up there and unpredictably land with a poke or something... The first thing that came to mind was jumping very high at around 15 seconds, floating on a j.cc, then doing a j.2c, landing, bursting, and jumping back into the sky. ArkiveZero Report post Posted December 3, 2009 Uh... seeing that there's basic things that are wrong with Rachel which pretty much leave her doomed to bottom tier and each match making either you frustrated or your opponent frustrated by running away and tricking them into traps =/= riding coat tails of victory. i was talking about tier whores in CT that only picked her because she was amazingly good, i wasnt talking about CS. Tsubaka! Be like all the other (or maybe just Californian) Rachel players and choose her! if thats a true statement, that's whats up. i was also thinking about using tsubaki. rachel, litchi and tsubaki all day son, yayuhzzz Anyone else think Litchi's dmg is retarded? Easy meterless 4k and 6c kote cancel actually...kote cancel in general... litchi's combos are too steezy to not do hella damage
killionaire Report post Posted December 3, 2009 Tsubaka! Be like all the other (or maybe just Californian) Rachel players and choose her! But yeah, I chose her because her sprite looked cute. I don't even like her portrait art in CT, lol. Actually, I'm probably going to play the smooth criminal for a time when it comes out for console. Only as a sub, though, but still... Also, I'm one of the Californians.. So, if what you said was true, then I am the exception.
Kuuhaku Report post Posted December 3, 2009 I'm still kinda- "wut" that Taokaka can do 6k meterless, but Rachel can't break 5k with 100 heat. Anyway, back on trying to find something good for Rachel- uh... the plus side is if she keeps running away into the air, there's not much that the other characters can do to catch her (except Rachel mirrors... I had one match where for some reason my opponent tried that and I just BBLed them). Actually, I'm looking at Hazama, Carl, and Arakune. Even though Arakune can't bee spam anymore, he still looks fun.

Not sure about anyone else. Bang's new super hitbox might reach high enough, too? And I wish I could've seen that other Rachel try to chase you, haha. Xtra_Zero Report post Posted December 3, 2009 So how about that CS Carl matchup? Seriously. You can't rush him, you can't zone him, you can't wait for him to approach you. How does Rachel even have a shot in hell?
Kuuhaku Report post Posted December 3, 2009 It's likely to be another 3:7... which is probably what her match up against Bang is going to look like too. Ragna and Taokaka maybe a 3.5.
Discotheque Report post Posted December 3, 2009 Rachel Litchi match-up is so terrabad it's depressing.
Kuuhaku Report post Posted December 3, 2009 So... Projectiles bounce off of Nirvana and don't hit Carl. Meaning that all Carl has to do is press D to be safe from lobelia. Uh... any suggestions on how this match up could not be stupid? Right now the scenarios I'm thinking of- If Rachel approaches Nirvana without pumpkin, Carl will projectile or pimp slap her. If she throws things, Carl can just use Nirvana to take damage. If Rachel tries to get up pumpkin, the hand drill thing (ground) and con brio (air).

chun_li1 Report post Posted December 3, 2009 Basically, we're screwed? Atm, yes. Glimmer of hope, once Console Version comes out, Rachel might be salvagable. But ast every other character will power up even more, so ..... Well no shame in dropping Rachel I guess if you see top Rachel players abandoning the boat. Anyone know what H.H. is saying on his blog about CS Rachel now?
zdravkelja Report post Posted December 3, 2009 Is there any chance of making changes to her in the console version?
zeech Report post Posted December 3, 2009 I dont think they will make balance changes for the console version, otherwise they would have done so for CT. (besides, usually people dont like it when home version differs from arcade). Save your prayers for a balance patch, i guess?
God_Of_Olympus Report post Posted December 3, 2009 They didn't save CS Tager from rape and they wont save us, hopefully this wont ever happen to her again, i wonder which character is gonna be the joke next year, oh Arcsys after doing AC did you forget how to balance?? I'm a sad panda

farranpoison Report post Posted December 3, 2009 Can someone contact Arcsys and ask them what the hell they were thinking when they nerfed Rachel so bad? Then again, it's not like the loli has it as bad as CT Tager did right? ....Right? Agh, I'm gonna sub her in CS now because I feel so sorry for her. Runaway lobelia/iris spam ftw! Spirit Juice Report post Posted December 3, 2009 The only safe way to approach Carl would likely be winding George to him in hopes he doesn't stand there and block it.
Xtra_Zero Report post Posted December 3, 2009 Alright, so let's talk basic Rachel gameplan now. Right now my plan involves running around, nickeling and diming the opponent with Lobelias, random j.B/C hits, airgrabs, and avoiding cqc. Running out of wind = you die, but it's very hard to conserve wind now because making opponents block George COSTS wind to send him in. 6A feels REAL bad now, it's slower and the range sucks, from what I could tell you might have better luck anti-airing with 236a. You can't really charge in with it anymore. Which basically leaves shitty pumpkin -> dash in -> 5B. Which doesn't even work that well as an approach. I'll mess more with pumpkin today but god pumpkin feels so risky now. I almost don't want to use it because wind is more important for other things.
Tari Report post Posted December 3, 2009 Try anti-airing with j.c. I can't do anything but work with theories, since I don't have the game, so I'll withhold my opinions for the time being.
Kurumster Report post Posted December 3, 2009 Anti-airing with j.c is really good. Probably one of the best things to do period. It works amazingly in CT because on block you can just jump cancel it and follow up with j2c > jc and go into pressure. With the nerf on j2c in CS I'm positive it's not as good, but that doesn't stop it from being a great anti-air/tech chase option.
