[CF] Makoto Nanaya's Combo Listing and Discussion Thread

Since no one seems to want to create a combo thread, I guess I'll do it. If a mod wants to start a better thread, just move this post over to it. I'm working on my giant combo list like I did for CPEX, but I'm going to need time to get it fully fleshed out. For now, I'll start this thread off with my findings for midscreen and corner combos with the usual starters (no 2B starters because I'm lazy, no Throws yet, no OD, no RCs, almost no CTs, just simple stuff). After this set, I'll get combos off of throws, then combos when Near Corner, then Counter/Fatal combos, then OD combos.

As I did with my previous list, multiple ways to end combos (e.g. Orb Oki, full damage end, super end, etc) are listed between ()'s  and separated by /'s. The damage and heat gain of all combos is listed at the end and combos with multiple enders have the different damage and heat separated by /'s as well. Not all the combos are optimal, and many are redundant and/or inferior to others listed near them. This is simply a list of everything I bothered to try, notice worked, and felt like writing down. Edit: I found the 5B>5C>6C>236A~D(1) corner combo route and thought the 236A~D(2) route didn't work (on Jin it shoots you away). I didn't realize that the lvl 2 route worked on other characters OR that you could get even more damage from it by waiting a few frames until I saw a video of it. When I saw how it worked on Jin I instantly stopped trying. I went back and re-did the lvl 1 route with the lvl 2 version and updated the damage and heat numbers (decent upgrade across the board). I'll try to explore the combo route more later and see if I can get anymore out of it.

Messed around with throws and counter-hit combos off of normals (and one random Sirius Jolt combo). Could probably mess around with midscreen counter hits more, will update if I do. Here's the new stuff.

I'm still alive, but I've been really busy playing other games recently (FFXV) so I haven't been as active working on combos. All I have since last time is Fatal Counter combos, but I thought I'd post them so anyone that actually likes this thread knows I'm not dead. I got distracted trying to figure out how to best utilize OD in combos (is it even really worth it on Makoto?) when I was testing the fatal combos, so I don't have many. (P.S. I broke 5k with Oki on the Break Shot Fatal Counter combo route that was mentioned on the Discord server).

I didn't start this thread just to post my stuff, and I know I couldn't possibly have all the neat tricks optimal combos. I was hoping to get a solid library of combos rather than people searching frantically through twitter, youtube, and the discord server, but I've been the only person to post on this entire forum in months.

I've been at a loss as to overdrive in CF, and no matter what I try, I think I'm stuck in the CPEX mindset of "activate OD to do ridiculous damage" and it just isn't the same in CF. I was thinking that I had to be missing something, something I didn't see or understand, to get back to OD being a big damage boost across the board. I'm pretty sure at this point that it just isn't. With OD duration being so much shorter and drive moves not doing any bonus damage any more, OD seems useful only as utility, burst-safe combos, or to tack on ~400 damage at the end of a combo. That being said, I did figure out the basic outline for optimal OD combos, so here are the examples I have.

Midscreen, OD can get surprisingly good damage when you're at high-health, and with insane corner carry too. Corner doesn't add much damage to normal corner combos, but they're burst-safe. It seems like OD is best used early when you get a good 5B/5C/6A/2C starter, that way you get good use early and likely get another OD/burst later in the match. I've only listed combos starting with 5B/6A, but the pattern in all OD combos is generally the same across the board: if they're on the ground Cosmic Ray > Comet Canon > Lightning Arrow, if they're in the air knock them to the ground with Meteor Dive or 6B > Comet Cannon > Lightning Arrow, add in a Meteor Dive if you have low health/extra OD time and you didn't start with it. I'm not going to mess around with OD combos anymore since I'm really disappointed with how lackluster the combos feel compared to CP/CPEX, but this is a good baseline for what maximum damage combos will look like. Maybe if I ever bother with parry combos I'll add one or 2 OD variants. If anyone has anything better or just more examples with different starters, once again, please feel free to add them here.

Been going through all the combos, re-testing them, verifying damage/heat gain, fixing (hopefully) all the typos. There were a lot of typos...like...way more than I thought. I think I got them all. So if there were some combos that didn't make sense or didn't work, I (hopefully) fixed them. Sorry. 

So far, everything listed in the first post (basic Midscreen and Corner combos) and Midscreen/Corner CH combos have been verified/fixed. CH 2C combos were falsely listed as CH-only, but all of them worked as non-CH combos, so they have been moved to the right spot in the list. Added new combos here and there (2C > CT starter combos, corner 2A starter combos, 3 new CH 2C > OD corner combos, random other stuff here and there)

Throw and Fatal Counter combos will be tested/updated next.

WOOHOO! 1000 VIEWS! I'm going to use that as an excuse to post a new OD route I found of bunch of good combos for! Note, this route is CH 5C > 2C, but that means all the combos also work with 2C as a starter, but the damage/heat gain will be different. CH 5B > 2C also works, but opt for 5C whenever possible.
