[CS1] Iron Tager Video Thread

Recommended Posts

Another Tager here with Litchi woes.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xcakB_0E5Mk

So... is CA a good idea on Litchi? I didn't really have a plan for following up on any of them. Other than that, it didn't seem like I could do anything except block. What should I be working on here?

You can punish Litchi's DP and you can beat it with anything with projectile invul.

Your blocking is good but doing CA at those times were bad.

Some of those moments you could have 2C'd Litchi for whiffing j.B.

If anyone misses a air poke you can and should punish it.

You can back dash punish Litchi's 4D.

and IB'ing her 6D can let you 360 punish Itsuu stance.

But alas online...can't do much about that.

CA isn't really helpful much at any time, IMO, but if you're going to do one, followup with some kind of pressure. Don't just jump away afterward. Meaty 5D is an okay choice.

If you block her DP, you can punish before it comes down with a free CH move of your choice, since she can't RC it...I recommend 6A.

You can 360A between a lot of her strings, especially if you IB. And if she goes for the immediate jumping chain and misses the first part, you can early 2C her on the way down when she tries again.

When the staff is right next to you, it's a pretty good bet that they'll activate it they think you'll Spark, so you can ASledge instead to remove the threat, and then spark.

You should be working on figuring out where the holes are - any time she stops to activate the staff; when a string is over; etc. You have to attack in order to win. (^.^)

Yeah... I guess I'll have to play Litchi in training mode so I can get a feel for her moves.

Where specifically could I have done 360A? The guy is jumping every 2 seconds so it can be really dangerous to just throw it out. I know Axis pointed out the 6D > Itsuu... or is that the only time?

Thanks for the response, guys.

More criticism for me, please.

vs Noel - I almost got perfected in the first round..

vs Ragna ... twice - For some reason, I can't predict his stuff besides ID. His overhead is too confusing to look at.

Mirror match

vs Lambchops - Yeah, being guard broken is kind of...well, jarring for me. I mean, come on. 10 primers? Doesn't happen often..

Noel:

Get better defense and tech when you see a combo drop? In this case noel missed a drive input.

Stop eating purple throws man.

Don't waste spark for combo's on magnetized opponents unless you know its gonna wear off.

You had no reason to sledge on noel like that. (You know what I am talking about.)

All her drives can and should be reacted to and punished.

Your pressure had huge holes in it, Something you never should have unless you got them scared.

Nice burst bait 720.

Ragna:

Jumping in on him like that is very very bad please don't do that.

You had an obvious 2C moment at the beginning...he who hesitates is lost.

You also IB'd the air poke which was a free 360B since he decided to land afterwards.

IB the second hit of 5D for your choice punish, If you IB both hits your punish is secured.

Don't use 2D or B sledge full screen you'll not only give him free damage but you also look silly doing so.

You gave up an opportunity for corner on round 2 and you used gadget on ragna which is dangerous.

Grab combo to corner is: B+C>Bsledge>5C>2D.

Practice hit confirms man...trust me you will need it.

I am sorry but I am not gonna watch the second one because then I'd create a wall of text needlessly for the same dead match up.

Mirror match:

Everything and anything can and will work against you in this match.

Thats why I never tried to do a write up because you can win off some of the saddest stuff.

I am done.

The usual. Don't do an attack or move without a reason behind it, work on hit-confirm, learn proper combos, tech blue beats, improving his blocking, learn what can be punished with what after IB for example, use Tager's anti-airs more.

Basically, fundamentals.

He also spammed j.2C and 2D a tad too much and preferably you want to keep your opponent in the corner (so learn and use combos that keep them in the corner, not combos that land them out of the corner when you have them there).

And he should be mindful of spacing, throwing out moves that have 99% chance of not hitting the opponent should be kept to a minimum, like throwing out a 4D at almost full-screen.

He also doesn't have to throw out Spark Bolt the second he gets it, people will usually notice you have a Spark Bolt ready and will usually result in a whiffed/blocked SB. Sitting on it keeps your opponent a bit wary and will usually cause them to slow down their pace and you can use it to extend combos or as a punish for something if your opponent slips up.

Also be mindful of his opponents option at all times, doing stuff like super jump j.D when Taokaka has +50% Heat is risky, to say the least.

You can IB 360A her when she is doing air pokes...since sometimes he would land and try to apply pressure.

But like I said in my write up don't depend on it.

Well guys, I finally have all my recording shit set up. I'm having some issues with getting a black bar on the right side of my videos, but they're still perfectly watchable.

I uploaded a huge backlog of videos to youtube in roughly chronological order. I like to think I've gotten progressively less dumb over the months, but it's pretty hit or miss depending on my state of mind at the time. I tend to not take ranked terribly seriously.

So without further ado, here's my channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/Darlos9D

Enjoy. Comments and trolling welcome.

EDIT: I've added in comments and annotations. Because hey why not.

Another Lambchops matchup. Wondering if I'm approaching this properly yet. Almost the longest 2-round match I've ever played with a time up and another barely.

vs Λ-11

Pretty much every non-counter hit I took in the first round was due to my controller not properly discerning 2s from 1s... I wish there was a way to adjust the deadzone on the stick. :/

Also, starting to get the hang of standing 360s, so that makes me happy. Just gotta figure out how walking 720s feel..

....And just for unrelated hype on the system changes to guarding and primers and junk....how much more common will bullshit like this end up happening from the increased potential of guard breaking? >_>

First Ragna vid:

You gotta learn when to poke and when to jump, you did way too many high jumps there.

0:56 was your 720 moment, learn when you should do these and you will definitely have fear on your side...and wins.

Confirm your pokes better: 1:35 was a CH j.B and you more often then not can do 5C>(6A)Collider off this.

Bang:

If you ever put your opponent in the corner its sometimes wiser to just cut it short to keep them there.

Your defense was pretty good here but you jumped around too much.

9:40 baited!^^

Bad burst kept you from winning that one, you could have gotten away with a lot more backdashes and 2A's.

2A's since he was using j.B's on his jump in's.

Bang 2: When you confirm a hit sometimes its not good to go for mixup or resets, if j.2C is blocked you should buffer 720 so you can punish their punish.

Ragna 2: 6B and 6C can be gattling into 4D...which helps if 6B is blocked and they are still in poking range.

Follow up to hells fang should be 5C'd if he didn't RC.

Note: Ragna could have ID'd you for sticking 5A out during BK.

Tourney nerve's suck, even I still have them.
