Slayer AC match vids

hi guys, here are some constructive criticisms. you guys really need to work on your slayer basics. yoyoholla got hit by wakeup 6k as CH 90% of the time. neither of you comboed into BBU from ground links the whole 9 minutes. only non aircombo i've seen is 6k, 5k, 2k, 2d and everything else didn't combo. it's as if you guys have seen some slayer stuff from videos and practice air combos, but really lacked ground and wakeup game. i'm a scrub so don't hold me to it. :)

Needs more blocking...a lot more blocking...whatever either of you were trying to do you just got CH for it, practice patience you won't be able to get out of everything...most of the time you'll eat a half life combo if you try to mash out. LB you're on the right track though. Practice all your links hardcore especially 5k into mappa, that combo happened approximately...0 times.(especially with all the 5ks landed, coulda been into DoT too) Bunch of random BBUs and B.Slayer gotta cut down on those mid range sweeps they got you punished a lot and the times they did hit, they really shouldn't have. There was no biting at all, bite isn't godly anymore but it's great mixup and still leads to decent damage/knockdown. Lots of dropped combos too. Just hit up the 101 thread and practice those combos till your hands fall off. I wasn't paying attention to the bursting too much but did see a couple bad ones that were just ridiculously high up.

Block. Seriously. I dont really know which was which, but i do know there was a many CH 2hs. Get your links down. The only times i saw some aircombos were off of CH 2hs, CH jhs, and Random BBU mostly. Slayer no need CH to do the combos. All he needs is the hit, and some tension. Also ive seen some random dusts, which i take as an failed attempt to BBU. So, yeah, excution is an issue(Remember to do the move with NO UP DIRECTION, BBU cant have an up direction in the end, thats why we cant BDC it) Im basically throwing back to you the things LB said. The good stuff was the blue SL using 2hs alot(since the other one was getting hit by it a lot.) A whole lot of 5k(which is always a good thing) from the both of you. And you guys did get your aircombos off(well sometimes). One more thing. This is sort of an opinion based thing. I dont see the point of doing two BBU in a row when you can just do one and get the knockdown to have a rinse & repeat scenario. But thats just me :vbang: Damn i talk to much.

If my BBUs will kill them off anyways I do it sometimes because it's pretty burstsafe if you hit them with the top of slayers fist. Also if they do burst it they will :vbang: after the punishment combo that will follow that bad burst.

slayer is not about offense. slayer is about being defensive until he has an opening, then being offensive. you guys tried back and forth like, almost mashing moves out to get out of blocking. if i played you, i'd just do ex pilebunkers on okizeme against you since i know you'd eat it nonstop. stop learning combos, start learning gameplay

I know that I totally sucked ass in that video but in Boss's defense and mine, that was the worst match we played all weekend and somehow that was the only match we had recorded. This is a promise: Next time anyone see's my Slayer in a vid, I won't drop combos and I'm going to sit back and wait for the opponent to come in and eat my 6P.

hehe 6p sucks. slayer vs slayer = s.k, 2/6hs, mappa and dandy. there's nothing else. hahahaha. well. almost. i REALLY wish i had people to record my matches though. that really is the fastest way to learn... unless you are one of the top players, you really can't adjust in-game and play better as you go along. me for example, need to sit down and analyze my game for a long time and brainwash myself into not doing wack stuff or doing something better. i know some of the posts might seem harsh, but just take it with a grain of salt (as you guys have already which is great ^^) and just practice practice practice. kugler: teach me gameplay and combos

Most of the damage you seem to sustain RoBo as far as I saw was from after you jump whether it be trying to catch up with the opponent or throw something out. Johnny has a nice set of moves that cover his anti-airs, air to airs and even air to ground quite nicely. Airdashing against Johnny isn't too smart as his high mist finer will just eat you up and his 6P is pretty nice. If you're at a distance throw mappas at'em or if you're footsying throw out those 5ks and try to hit confirm into mappa or DoT if you have tension, 2HS is also wonderful from max range. Generally the only safe dandy move against Johnny IMO from a distance would have to be crosswise and that's when he's airdashing at you. Anything else will net him a CH via j.HS. 2S is your anti-air friend as always just use it sparingly or he will start to aerial Divine Blade if he catches on, 6P is very situational as AA since his DB and j.HS hit your lower hitbox and the invuln on it does shit for that use it wisely I suppose. FD his pressure as his dash does not allow him to get back in very easily once pushed out and will make him burn coins to keep you pressured so just block those. Also remember that he can only grab you after a dash so FD'em out or grab him before he grabs you. Against Pot just don't fish as much for CH BBUs otherwise it should be clear what do just play safe Also everyone needs moar bite, something I noticed was that while pressuring some of ya would like iad and do like j.S or jump and j.HS and try to continue pressure, in instances like those is the prime time to bite then combo into sweep in whatever way you desire and mix their shit up :yaaay:

vs johnny biggest thing: - why are you blocking back instead of downback most of the time? you got hit by a lot of lows. - getting CH on wakeup. what were you trying to do? - others, you can probably just learn from experience like don't get hit by mist finer everytime you jump, landing combos, etc. vs eddie - you really need to learn the match up. jumping into unblockable is total no-no and you can't blame the stick. :) vs chipp - matchup/block vs pot - matchup/block low in general there are only 5 logical things to do on slayer's wakeup. anything else is usually illogical. - block high - block low - backdash - dandy - super use meter more efficiently you almost always do IAD s/hs or DJ hs. you need incorporate some other options you really need to learn character matchups don't do moves hella randomly, which includes gold burst. you hit it often though but i don't think that's how a burst should be as the norm block low more finish combos. i think after every j.S, you did nothing after that's all i got out of it so far. gogo keep practicing.

basic thing is learn the combos, character specific combos and stuff as well learn to just block sometimes, using FD what not BBU is good anti air, but sometimes throwing it out while they airdash from certain distances will just leave you open and lead them to hit you for free. use different jump normals, like jK what not add in some mix up high lows, dash grabs, bites, etc...

by far the best slayer video so far, no questions. however, i HIGHLY suggest people check out the POPY amusement video of Ogawa's team, with NIGA slayer. He has so many incredibly smart options. Ending air combos with BBU to cause a fucked up mind-game for the opponent. (the opponent was too far away to j.D, so he uses BBU as a knockdown. however, it's highly techable. If they DO tech it, he gets a free air-throw / reset combo / 6HS. @_@!) Not to mention the HOT SJI combo he does. :O~

I haven't been playing much GG and it really shows~ x.x;

This was a match from a local tourney we had yesterday. It was from losers finals and Steve ended up beating me 3-2 last round (very close). I don't know why but lately I've been getting really nervous in tournies and my game goes to shit. I definitely have to work on defense for sure but any advice would be greatly appreciated~ @.@;

Hmm....I'd say try to mix up the pokes a little more, I noticed you using 2H a lot, so if you do it a lot, try to do something like 6H to catch them in air when they start jumping in anticipation. I guess try not to miss your links and go for BBU combos when you can get them, since everything seems to chain into 2H one way or another. Pretty good stuff at the end though.
