I should certainly hope that GGXX:AC sold better in the states; it deserves all the sales it can get, really.

Hmm, a few other questions:

What's something important for a noob like me to learn?

Is the Hori Arcade Stick decent?

If your new pick one character and stick with them and learn everything about the character. Try looking for guides to your character in the character forum and learn the properties and uses of all of their moves (by moves I mean every normal and special). Also learn all of the system stuff if you dont already know it.

The one for Wii. There's only one that I know of, at any rate. Yeah, yeah, I own the Wii version. ._. And I'm trying to learn Sol and Order-Sol as best I can. I keep playing Survival and see how far I can get, and make it a point to try to implement new moves when I fight. Recently I can pull off VVs consistently, and have started on Fafnir (not hard to do, just trying to see if I can combo it into something or if I should just segue into a TR), trying not to whiff it. I do Survival because it brings in all of the cast, so I get practice in against everyone. Is that a good idea?

IMO the best practice you can do outside of training mode (or fighting another human) is vs. CPU on Maniac. Granted it's not the same as fighting a person and cannot really be considered matchup experience, but it will allow you to face the AI at its maximum difficulty right away, rather than wasting time with Survival and arcade mode's pathetically easy first rounds and cheap, unrealistic later rounds. Throw in survival mode's regenerating health system and you are probably better off with vs. CPU's more realistic match conditions. Not that you can't mess around with the other modes every now and then, they just don't really provide the best sort of challenge and conditions for improving. Plus in vs. CPU you can choose exactly who to fight, so if you want to pracrice against the entire cast you have that option as well. One thing I do sometimes when I am bored is to go into vs CPU and just play against all the characters in order, moving on to the next one when I have cleanly beat my current opponent 2 or 3 times in a row.

Did you turn up the volume for voices/sound effects in sound options? Cuz Sol's Tyrant Rave and Grand Viper sound great to me. Hell, it's so loud it gave me a headache.

Been meaning to ask this....

Is it just me or does the arcade version of GGXXAC sound better? Better quality of sound or something along those lines. The Explosion from Sol's Tyrant Rave sounds different in videos I've seen compared to what I hear in-game on PS2.

I was going to ask about this, too, but I think I would've been off-topic or asked in the wrong board. I would like to know the sound settings that the Arcade has so I can have a more Arcade-ish (sp?) feel when I practice; even if I'm not using a stick. :(

If turning the Voice and Sound Effect volumes at max really does bring that Arcade feel, then I guess I should do that. A confirmation would be nice, though. Not saying that I don't believe you, Hatred Edge.

CPU on maniac? D: I think I'll get insta-trashed. I'll give it a shot, though. Now, this is a little character specific, but please don't kill me for it. : ( What's a good starting move/game for Sol? Best thing I can think of is 6S, but that's just a starting hit, and it move them away from me. That's no good. GV is not very safe, and BR is prone to anti-air. What to do?

Well I dunno about the Arcade "feel" but turning up the sound makes the game sound better. The default setting is 28 out of 128(been a long time), so putting it on 128 sounds fantastic. My tv volume is on 7 out of 100 and you can hear it quite well. Just test it yourself. -Music:128 -Voices:128 -Sound effects:128

Actually, the default for the US console version is:

BGM Volume: 48

Voice Volume: 47

SE Volume: 40

The settings you recommended = EAR RAPE when guarding or using Faultless Defense from an Overdrive or Special moves and my T.V. only on 5 out of 100. Then again, it could be that I have a crappy T.V.:vbang:

Oh, well. I guess I'll just keep it default. Or maybe I could use other sound settings from the previous Guilty Gear games and see how that works. Unless it's the same for each game. :gonk:

Thanks for the help, though, Hatred Edge. I'll try to work something out. I kind of agree with Blade that the Arcade version has a clearer, more crisp sound quality. I've noticed that console versions of Arcade games get toned down on sound quality a bit. Or it could just be me.

EDIT: It seems using the default sound settings from #Reload has that Arcade-ish Voice level, but I'm not sure about the Music or Sound effects. I could make a few videos testing it out and you guys could compare it or something. Sorry if I'm making a big deal out of this. I'll stop if I am.

if you want an "arcade" feel, turn down the BGM. at least, that's what i recall -- BGM is far less important than voice and sound effects, so it's kept lowest of the three. but maybe i'm wrong.

1.) Why is Chipp Z Nuff's icon next to GENERAL GUILTY GEAR, GUILTY PLEASURES, etc. I mean, I just started playing Guilty Gear few weeks ago, but aren't Sol or Ky supposed to be the main characters???? You would think maybe if they put Sol's picture instead of Chipp it would have made sense. Or maybe whomever designed this messageboard is a huge Chipp fan??? 2) Who would win in a 40-yard dash....ABA with Paracelsus or Potemkin????

1) it's a throwback to when the only available chibi characters we had available were those Chipp ones. it's a good point, though... 2) ABA.

I love the music of GG but in training i always listen my own music, was a pain for example in reload train the dust loop. teah teah, teah Teah , te teah teah ... XDD in one time a friend was training some combos with slayer agaist Dizzy, and when her life is 0 (with life regain activated) she screm like a porn movie XD and his mother come to his room, and says. What are you doing !! ah ah onegai ie ie XDDD i prefer play with more BMG than sound efects of voice, he characters that i play dont need too much listen de sound, (sometimes i use it for make FRC) with faust or dizzy in artic impaler. if you want that your GG sounds like an arcade put an arcana heart near to your ps2 XD, some time ago in acho matchs in the sound you listen this game too XD

Nhur, the TEYAH, TEYAH,TEYAH,TEYAH is legendary!

yeah is legendary, in the tournaments was very funny say teyah teyah when sol makes this combo.

but in training is little repetitive, andi dont know why but sometimes, when i play in the night, i must put the volume VERY low because the voice of sol is very loud XDD, this ot happens with other characters XD

i've been contemplating getting this game, but i am not sure which version to get: Wii or PS2. i know the PS2 version is the official tournament version of this game, so i want to get that version preferrably. however, my decision will be affected by the following questions: however, is there a way to play this game online with the PS2 without any mods or weird necessary procedures (does the game support online play with the PS2 LAN adapter)? what about the wii version? finally, for those who have the PS2 version, if online play is supported, how large is the online AC community? And Wii AC?

well, i really wish the wii version had online capabilities... :( it doesn't really make sense, does it just mean the developers weren't willing to work with nintendo on such support?

Hey guys... I'm a total n00b here and to GG in general. I have about a decade of experience with Tekken and about five years of experience with CapCom fighters (CvS2, 3S, ST). However, I got pretty tired of all those games (I'm not saying they suck) and decided to pick up GG. It wasn't for the anime/music/gothic theme or anything like that; more along the lines of it being something new and totally different.

Like I said, I've got no experience--but I do have GGXXAC and a joystick, lol. So I guess I'm ready to start learning... but there's so much to learn! I know that virtually everything about the game is explained on this board, so I'm not asking for any specific information. But I am asking for some help getting started. For example, I can sit here and read pages of information, but I don't know how to start applying it. I know there is probably competition in my area, but I don't know if I'm ready to start traveling to play just yet. I guess I'm asking if the CPU is a worthy adversary for learning all of the ins and outs? What are other tips for practicing things other than combos? Again, there's soooooooooo much information here that it's both a DREAM and a NIGHTMARE at the same time, lol.

Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated. Thanks!

Is it possible for I-No to Stroke The Big Tree, FRC into a TK-UF? I would think so, but I haven't been able to pull it off yet. Want to know if I'm wasting my time trying. Also, can Dizzy IK boss I-No? I've tried but I suck with that ridiculous input and usually get hit long before I can finish it.

I recommend finding a character that you like by watching match videos and playing around in training mode with their combos. If you have someone to practice against, that can also help you find who you want to learn. Once you decide on a character, you should devote yourself to learn all of those character's options for combos, okizeme, and poking (usually match specific). Before any of that you need to familiarize yourself with the game system itself though if you haven't already. Read through this guide, but don't worry about the more advanced stuff until you are familiar with everything and know your combos and such. Depending on which character you choose to play, the main things to focus on to get better will be different. Every character in GG is drastically different, and every matchup is unique. There are tons of people who will answer questions you might have, as long as they aren't already written in the appropriate guides.

Once you have a good feel for the GG system, if you want to switch characters it isn't that hard to do so, just realize that the the game system is fairly complex so be patient while you learn it.

Thanks a lot for your help. You guys are doing a great job keeping this forum useful and free of clutter. But like I said, it's just too much, lol.

Anyways, I just have one more quick question. I know that GG focuses heavily on combos, but combos have kind of been my pitfall in fighting games. I spend too much time trying to start them and end up getting punished. I'm not saying that I want to play without using combos, but I'm looking for a character that focuses less on combos and more on strategy. So far I think that Potemkin has this property, but I just want to be sure. BTW, I'm typing this on mobile device so I apologize for any errors.

Well, as with any fighting game, combos do damage, so strategically, by not doing combos, all you're doing is forcing yourself to guess right more times in order to win. Unfortunately, you're not going to find a character that doesn't have some combos that most pro players are going to use. The good news is, for the most part, characters have a lot of options as far as getting a combo from most situations where they can get a hit off. I do agree that you shouldn't focus on them first, however.
