Id_asz Report post Posted July 23, 2010 And we're back! Some of you may remember, some time back in ancient history, that FFA used to run airdasher tournaments. Well, now in 2010 it's time to start back from our 7 month break. Our Bi-weeklies will go just as they used to: - Every other Sunday - Guilty Gear and Melty Blood @ 2PM - BlazBlue @ 5PM. Some minor things will change, but the format will stay. Check out our sister thread: http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?9066-FFA-SoCal-arcade-scene-BB-GG-MB-(and-other-airdashers And our ever growing website: http://www.ffa-united.com/ The last tournament was beastly. Thanks to Infinite Beans for hosting this tournament. Vampire Savior: The tournament will start at 5PM. $1 to enter; you will need to bring quarters to play on the machine. We will run it on FFAs arcade cabinet, which is made of American sticks and buttons. Pot will be split 75%/25% (1st/2nd), or if there's a decent amount of people (>10) 70%/20%/10% (1st/2nd/3rd). Rules: -2/3 matches, 2/3 rounds, Grand Finals 3/5 (subject to change) -Double Elimination Bracket. -Counter-pick for character allowed on loss. -Double Blind character selection available on request. -Glitches are allowed, game breaking glitches are not. Thanks to Rotanibor for hosting this tournament. If for some reason we have to do a Round Robin, there are a couple different ways of doing it. Here are the rules you can expect: -In a Round Robin, everyone has a chance to fight everyone. -The number of matches you win will count (So 2-0 is recorded and 2-1 is recorded). That means even if you lost you can still get 1 point. -At the end of the Round Robin, the top two players go to Grand Finals where it runs like Grand Finals from a Double Elimination Bracket (the person with 2nd most points has to win two sets, the person with 1st most points has to win one set). -If there was a tie for 1st place, both players go to grand finals, but with no advantage. This will be only one set (possibly two sets but both players would be even), but 3/5 matches (or higher depending on the game). -If there was a tie for 2nd place, there will be an automatically decided tie-breaker on who gets to go to grand finals (usually it's who won between the two player's matches during the Round Robin). -Round Robins are only done if there is a really small amount of people for a game (like 4, 5 or 6), or it can be incorporated into a Swiss Bracket if there's more than 64 people. Both cases are unlikely. Most Round Robin tournaments are fuzzy on if they do Grand Finals or if they give only 1 point total for all matches put together, so I figured I'd just want to clear that up ahead of time. Side tournaments not listed here are encouraged, just please try and ask me ahead of time. If for some reason I am lax on an update, the next tournament will be 2 Sundays after this one (8/22). If you have questions about rules, comments about how the tournament went, or notice something I missed (like another tournament happening on the same day), please let me know and I'll try and resolve the situation. Hope to see you all Sunday! Note: Skull Girls location test is very likely to take place during these tournaments. We are also working on possibly having a more permanent station for the SG Beta in the future. Keep posted for more details.

Id_asz Report post Posted July 24, 2010 Mike Z Donation Fund: The tournament will start at 2PM. $2 to enter; you will need to bring quarters to play on the machine. We will run it on FFAs arcade cabinet, which has PS2 ports if you'd like to play on your pad. Pot will be split 75%/25% (1st/2nd), or if there's a decent amount of people 70%/20%/10% (1st/2nd/3rd). Fixed! And yeah, I can't announce this enough! FFA has BBCS arcade in super-mega-aweomse tm cabinets! (thanks to Mike Z. for selling his board!).

Id_asz Report post Posted July 31, 2010 Who are you playing now? o.O I still play Carl, but I'm considering picking up Platinum when she comes out. I haven't had much practice to play CS, since FFA just got the board a little over a week ago, and AI is really far from me (I live near Denjin). But fortunately my playstyle crossed over really well.
Id_asz Report post Posted August 3, 2010 Just added a TvC part of the tournament. RoyalFlush and the rest of the SoCal TvC asked to join us, and I figured it would work out. idk if it will be a regular thing or not, but we'll see.

Id_asz Report post Posted August 3, 2010 4 cabinets, all with the possibility of head-to-head. 2 of them currently have BlazBlue CS (Head-to-head), the other two have filler games (Virtua Striker 2000 & Zero Gunner 2) until we get something big. ATM, we're debating between Tekken 6 and King of Fighters XIII. I vote for KoFXIII, but it's all up to Ralph. Money is always an issue, considering we just bought BlazBlue, we bought 4 awesome cabinets, and we need to have money left over for SSF4. So the biggest question is which would give more bang for its buck, KoFXIII or T6 (again, I say KoF). Our KoF scene isn't as hot as AIs, though, so it's more of a risk than theirs. FFA is much bigger on Street Fighter and MvC2 than most other games. Also it seems like the TvC scene is game for having their tournaments along with ours on the same days (same time as BB). Since TvC is the same sub-genre, I think it will go well. BB will get the big screen though =P. RoyalFlush will be running the TvC tournament, and yours truly will be taking care of BlazBlue. I'm going to need a volunteer for either Melty Blood or Guilty Gear (and I can cover the other one), but I don't think that should be much of a problem.
