West Coast Canada IV: "Ah yes, 'Guilty Gear' - we have already dismissed that game!"

Recommended Posts

this tells me that it is porn where the people involved will cry at some point but the emotional and life fulfilment of becoming physically connected will change their view of the world for the better and enable them to live press forward into happier lives together in spite of the uncertainty of the future (which may or may not include the illicit nature of their relationship) and the pains of the past

that or they will be able to die with dignity

I lol'd

what's everybody doing for halloween?

Joe and I are going downtown on saturday to Fabric. Should be pretty hilarious since most likely Lil J will be there and possibly Percy Jackson. Sunday gonna chill at home.

So word on the street is that Zenimax (owner of both Bethesda and id Software) has purchased Shinji Mikami's company Tango, and with Tango Shinji Mikami himself. No word on how the negotiations went down, but from the looks of it (and especially how Zenimax said no to id Software licensing out id Tech 5 to non-Zenimax companies), Shinji Mikami's days of doing freelance could be over (Vanquish was only freelance work he did for Sega and Platinum Games, and Shadows of the Damned is also freelance work for him as well).

The good news is with Zenimax, he'll actually have an actual marketing budget and he will be able to use id's brand new id Tech 5 engine (as seen with RAGE, it's a beastly engine that doesn't have the stupid flaws of UE3); however, on the flip side, he might be forced to use the incredibly shitty Gamebryo Engine that Bethesda uses for its games, now that may not be the case, but still it's a horrible possiblity. =x

One super exciting thing is that Masafumi Takada is with Tango. Every game he's been involved with has had absolutely arresting audio work, and while it's sad to see that the dynamic duo behind Grasshopper Production's audio is no more, it should mean that whatever Tango comes up should at least be worth listening to... which is more than can be said for 90% of other games. I can only hope that the projects they get themselves into allow him to make the crazy stuff that he can.

Apparently Zenimax is still allowing Mikami to do whatever he wants (just as long as it's for Zenimax I guess, no more freelance).

Alright, I'm in Vancover on halloween night and november first visiting some folks. Give me some ideas of things to do. Also, I wanna pick up a modded Ps2 if I can. Anybody know a good place?

for a modded ps2, couple places in richmond if you'll be close to there; crystal mall near metrotown in burnaby would be your best bet otherwise

I'm under the impression that halloween night is going to be a fairly quiet affair since it's a sunday and everybody will be all partied out from friday/saturday?

So who's going to be the leader of the MML3 project now that INAFKING is gone?

For that matter, wtf is he going to be doing? Mid-life crisis stuff?

Well before he took over as head after Okamoto was booted out (greenlighting awesome games by Mikami, Kamiya, Kobayashi, Funamizu, and even Inafune himself but the development costs weren't doing it for Capcom's overhead), he made some pretty great stuff, not just his Megaman stuff, but I mean the Onimusha series and of course Dead Rising.

Lost Planet was his only fuckup, so I wouldn't blame Jun Takeuchi for LP2's failure since the base was shit to begin with. Oh right, Takeuchi is Inafune's replacement.

Takeuchi is not that bad, he's actually pretty good, it's just that he came over from Capcom's arcade side (well what's left of Capcom's arcade development which is just the Gundam Vs team really), so him doing traditional console games is kinda not his forte. That's why LP2 and RE5 were more arcadey compared to their predecessors.

But yeah it looks like too much stress with the new position, his comments at many previous TGS events are proof of that.

Oh right I saw the Lilac PSP in person at metrotown sonystore, it's really nice, if I'm not too lazy and get myself to Surrey or Coquitlam before they disappear, I'll get that cheap bundle.

EDIT: Gabe, looks like Tokyo Jungle is a PSN game, or at the very least a PSN game for the west. Confirmed for EU PSN today, more @ http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=411603.
