Under Night In-Birth, PS3 release confirmed (Jul 24, 2014)

Recommended Posts

some japanese players are reporting in twitter that there's a locktest going on in some arcads (like Sega Gigo (Ikebukuro) ), with a 2.02. Looks like it will be a patch to correct some bugs.

Not sure about Hilda at all, but Batista stuck out to me as exceptionally strong.

Hilda's moves and techniques are still scary when played well. I remember 1.07 coming into her own at the very end just by watching vids and the good 2.0 hildas still wreck people even without full tech developed on combos.

those were streamed live back in 9/28, abelcru probably have recorded a big part of them and reuploaded to youtube. Now the organizers of the event are uploading the raws to nico (in better quality).

edit:

the site was updated with a new topic in mechanic. They talk a little about chains and auto combos this time http://inbirth.info/topic0126.html

Man I wish a console announcement would happen already. Kind of hard to stay hyped for a game that I have no way of playing. Not expecting a release date, but I was sure that we would have gotten an announcement by now.

Well now that we know that French Bread is working on the Dengeki game, I can't imagine the console port is going as quickly as I hoped so no surprises that we haven't seen an official announcement yet. Hopefully, we can get one by the end of the year with a release date.

Ultimately, they may decide to not port it in favor of the Dengeki fighter. UNIB has not been particularly popular or successful, probably because it was very unbalanced before the first few patches, and this turned most people away for good.

hmmmm, it's possible but seems unlikely to me. Financially speaking, there's no real reason for them to pick one or the other since both the arcade and console release of the Dengeki fighter are no doubt being paid for by Dengeki Bunko themselves. If they end up not porting it, it would come down to not having the time and resources but considering all this talk about a PS3 version started happening when they were probably already working on the Dengeki figthter, I don't think this is too much of an issue for them at the moment.

I think that they are not developing Dengeki's fighter alone. I'm sure that Sega is doing a good part of the job since with them is the contract. So they probably have still time to keep up with UNiB. And hey, maybe they learn good things with this fighter that can use later to make a better port of UNiB.

Haven't they already said the producer and the art director are the guys from valkyria chronoicles? And while i would love to believe it, i simply can't believe the stages were done by french bread. They are completely different in style and quality. So they surely aren't working alone in dengeki.

New videos are showing up again

btw, while they try to tweet about every torney of unib that is going on in french bread and unib twitters and link them in the aime card site ( http://sp.uniapm.info/info_event_list.php), sometimes things go bellow their radar. But there's a bot runned by fans. "@UNIinfoBOT " would tweet about events, and let anyone read and edit a calendar http://www54.atwiki.jp/uniinfobot/ . It's very conveninent (wish we had something like this for melty blood in the past).

edit: this employee of french bread twitted a little about changes in unib 2.22 that were tested

Carmine pressure is ridiculous seriously.

It looks like you can't do anything except guessing a reversal somewhere. That's retarded.

I suppose the goal is to block as well, and as long, as you can while Carmine expends HP to continue pressure. And DP out if the opponent starts autopiloting strings with gaps.

Frankly, it seems similar to Chie or Narukami oki/pressure in P4A, in terms of being a vortex and really hard to escape from. So, while powerful (Yu and Chie are top tier, Carmine probably is in UNIB), it's nothing that can't be dealt with. Heck, I've endured nutty Yu pressure while playing Liz of all characters.

@Putin: Chie oki, like Narukami, is free. The difference is that Chie tends to have stronger mixup, but can't extend the pressure for as long as Narukami can using Izanagi. To be honest though, functionally it's pretty much the same. Knockdown into nearly airtight oki, into mixup city.

If EX wheel is needed in most cases for Carmine, I don't mind that at all. In that case he's got Ky oki that also drains his health.

I'm fine with Carmine as he currently stands, in case that was ever unclear.

Yu can do it for free though because he's retarded, Carmine has to spend the most vital resource for it. I've also seen people go for EX wheel since the new patch, so the regular one might not be as strong anymore.

Plus, he has to sacrifice health for pretty much anything, be it fireballs or combos. Especially since he now has to pay the same amount of hp for like half the damage he used to dish out

idk about Chie

Chie is like Noel, tbh.

Go balls in on a guess, and if you guess right, you win the game.

XD

Carmine's tradeoff for his ridiculous setups and space control is his own health bar, and since you do less damage per combo in UNIEL than in version 1, I'd say that's made Carmine weaker, since he can't reliably do as much damage but still has to spend a similar amount of health. But yeah, if he catches you, it's bad news for characters without reversals.

I don't know about the damage, he wasn't really a big damage dealer in the first place. He does fairly decent damage for a mixup character tbh. That's not his weak point imo.

You're right that damage isn't really Carmine's weak point. I just think that the universal damage lowering in UNIEL makes him a little weaker since he's the only character who has to spend health to get going (spends the same amount of health for less reward). Obviously, not that much weaker since his tech is basically the same.

Last version Carmine did like 4-6k on average if he hit you, probably more in the upper region because lol chainshift in the last version. So you basically died in two combos which made his oki set-up and mix-up a serious threat. His high-low is pretty much whatever the game gives him (short-hop j.B/j.C, empty short hop low, cross-up assault j.B/j.C) + his standing charged overhead, but he also has hella frame traps and a command grab. His kit is decent, which was enough to basically make him a seriously deadly rushdown character with a good zoning/projectile kit to boot.

In this version I'd say he's honestly equally as strong, probably top 4 along with Hilda and Yuzuriha.
