Lack of activity? I hope you guys are still playing this when I get there...

Wow, it's already been a month since I promised to drive up there. I get one more month before I start donating quarters to that cabinet.

I almost quit Blaz after unsuccessfully attempting hakumen's loop for a couple of weeks, but after I talked to a friend about arcade sticks, I got re-inspired and finally did the loop successfully. I've only done it twice, but it's nice to see signs of progress.

Either way, I'm stick practicing combos to get comfortable on a stick. Would you guys say the arcade cabinet most resembles the shape of an HRAP 3 SA or a Madcatz TE? (They both have different slants to the buttons.)

Depends on what you play. If you play BB then you should find at least 2 - 3 people playing on the cabs since the game is obviously still new and people still want to play and practice at the game. If you play GG however..

Hey guys. I thought I'd pimp this out, and see if anyone is interested in showing up. The room vouchers are almost worth it on their own, and if enough people show up, it could be BIG money for the winner! Casino is matching the pot up to $250 at this point, but it might go even higher! Plus it's a casino, so you can go gamble / drink to your hearts content.

Just so you know, I'm not running it. :3 But I'll be participating!

Yeah, still a Johnny player. You don't go anywhere to play? You only live in Redondo Beach which isn't very far. You never go to AI or anything do you?

Well I actually live in Long Beach now. I got my car jacked down here so yeah, I can't really get anywhere far. There's the Metro, which I take to Piggs house but he got bored of gg. But these days school and work completely take all my time anyways. You guys can expect to play me in the future.

I just got back from Arcade Infinity. Overall, it was a refreshing trip, but I could have had more fun.

The drive itself is incredibly long. I can spend over two hours on the computer easy, but spending it driving is a different animal. Combine that with the fact that I have never been to that area made it pretty draining. However, I did listen to Young Money's "Bedrock" three times on two different radio stations. Made the trip enjoyable.

Appearance wise, AI looks like a generic Tilt... except with chairs and no lights. The games though were pretty surprising. A melty blood machine? A bust a move with azumanga characters? Two blaz machines? Truly a rare sight... combined with the fact that these machines have working buttons and sticks, easily makes it a special arcade.

It was fun meeting some of you (that is if you were there). I was the large dark skinned guy in the yellow shirt playing hakumen. Some of the people I remember are...

The guy in the purple shirt in the afternoon playing the Noel.

The guy in the afternoon with the big headphones and glasses playing the carl

The guy playing the green arakune both afternoon and at night.

The guy with the glasses playing the Jin.

...and before I left, there was a guy playing Bang.

It was nice to play all of you. I hope to see you again in a few months. I'm thinking a week in May would be best. Hopefully for a tourney next time (the drive is too long to just show up for some casuals).

*runs away to SD and pokes community with Hakumen's 4C*

The guy playing the green arakune both afternoon and at night.

Some pretty fun stuff today at AI.

Nice to meet quite a few new people.

Also, not going until May, beats?

That's a pretty long time, man.

Don't be a stranger.

If you're all the way down in SD, I'm sure you can probably find a carpool or something. If not, you can gather some people up to make the trip less boring when you drive. And yes, parking at AI is certainly a mission in and of itself.

@frc: Sucks to hear about your car. That's pretty shitty. Don't know if I'm going to Devastation but I'm pretty sure I'm going to EVO so I'll probably see you there. Hopefully we can play sometime before then, though.

So uh, word on the street is that GG at AI is gone now. R.I.P. Socal GG scene (or what's left of it).
