Discuss the Valkenhayn vs. Makoto match-up here.

Char specific details:

Avoid using 236A in this match-up unless using it mid-combo with a Rapid Cancel. It can be poked out of with a 2A, 5A, or punished with a Distortion. If blocked, you be at a minus, leaving you open to an A move for at least 4k damage. Even on hit, it leaves you neutral, putting yourself up for Makoto pressure.

I don't really neccesarilly have a write up but. Never use 236A on Makoto. It's a free punish no matter what you do. 7D or not. You would have to RC it. Makoto can just 2A you.

2B low profiles under her Corona Upper (DP), which you can then punish with FC 6B. It also beats Parry, so be certain to throw it out a lot, especially on wake up.

Going to make a post here similar to my Ragna post:

Makoto has several moves that move her forward before her active frames. 5B, 5C, 3C and I think 2C? As a result, it extends her hurtbox on start-up prior to her active frames. You can stuff these moves pre-emptively with Valk's 6B.

i.e. if a Makoto likes doing 3C in the beginning the round, just do 6B in the beginning of the round for a free fatal.

Look at the hitbox of 6B(2): http://www.dustloop.com/guides/bbcs2/frameData/valkenhayn/vh211_08.png

It's rather large and doesn't extend Valk's hurtbox much, while Makoto's 5B extends his hurtbox all the way forward. If you place a 6B just out of range of 5B (which is actually quite a large distance) and the Makoto tries to rush in with a 5B, you can score a fatal during the 6B(2) active frames into a huge damage combo anywhere on screen. Try this in training mode. It also works against misplaced dash 2As.

6B is also a decent parry punish. Some Makoto's like doing parries after certain block strings to punish mashing, but if you do 6B, it will be too slow to activate the parry and you'll get a free combo.

Oh and another thing about this match-up. Bait Big Bang Smashes. Either make it whiff (wolf, fly up up up) or try to stuff it on start-up somehow.
