Cross-posting info from SRK (I may just migrate to that thread entirely as there's a bit more activity there).

Misc. Info about Yatagarasu players and Video Archives:

Twitters

(Hiya) - The strong ass Hanzo user

https://twitter.com/NALKAMI

(Narukami) - The cheap ass Shimo user

https://twitter.com/BBSLEVEL

(BBS) - I've seen the name on the JP leaderboards for 4.3. I *think* he mains Chadha but I'm probably dead wrong. He's definitely "up there" in terms of online presence.

https://twitter.com/SNY321

(SNY) - Organizer of today's online jp event. Not sure if he has an alias or who he runs in Yata. He understands a bit of (simple) english too so maybe you can squeeze some info out of him about other top players in the jp scene.

**IF YOU USE ANY OF THE VIDEO MATERIAL FOUND IN THE LINKS BELOW, PLEASE SEND A FUCKING REQUEST/PM/DIRECT MESSAGE TO THE OWNER ASKING IF YOU CAN USE THEIR VIDEOS FOR PERSONAL USE (e.g. upping vids to youtube) BEFORE JACKING THEIR SHIT. OR AT LEAST BE A SEMI-DECENT HUMAN-BEING AND CREDIT THEM/SHOUT THEM OUT IN YOUR VIDEO/VID DESCRIPTION**

(Hiya) - Hanzo player's archives of his netplay experiences. Plays KTR a bunch in them I believe lol

(SNY) - Organizer for today's event. Vids have been auto-archived for the 4.2 tourney.

Having finally played it, I've taken a liking to Shimo. I really just freestyled until I found combos, now watching videos I feel good knowing that I wasn't too far off the mark. Really the only thing I missed was j.lk and j.hk being special cancellable into Makoenki (j.214p). Even found out most of the tech that didn't involve what I just mentioned, including the cross up/fake cross up, command dash cancel throw/throw bait. I'll doa bit more practice, then try my hand at fighting people.

I'll need to make note of these combos for later. I was able to figure out most of it, but with this new knowledge, I can practice these too;

xx > 5lk > 5hp > 236lp+hp~lk, 236lp~lp

That's the part I trial and error'd my way into knowing and I usually ended the combo with either another 236lp~lp or 236236p, but now having seen the videos I know to adjust it to;

sj.hk > j.214lp, 2hp > 236lp/hp - run oki

I caught wind of this game recently completely by accident. I also saw this video on SRK: video. Most of this looks pretty good to me. Though I do have one reservation. The guard crush mechanic seems a little on the quick side to me. Is it easier to avoid than it looks initially? Are the rewards for a guard crush substantial? I have no experience with the game, however, I intend to pick it up at some point.

The guard crushes are actually relatively slow when you consider that you aren't really expected to avoid them but rather parry them.

The rewards from actually landing the GC move are dependent upon the character- if the opponent takes the hit without trying to block it, they eat damage but the hitstun is less which limits what you are able to follow up with. If you land the hit clean and try to follow with a move that isn't fast enough, you may eat a full punish. If you guard crush them, they obviously take no direct damage but they are not pushed back as far and there are quite a few more frames of stun. Just some quick testing tells me that Hanzo, for example, really doesn't have anything that she can combo into off of a clean hit- not even a super.

I decided to give this a shot, but all I can find is v4. I have no idea how to upgrade it to the newest version, and when I tried to just download the upgrader to the new version, it was asking for something, but I have no idea what.

Shimo can follow up, but it's extremely tight, feels close to a 1 frame link.

What we need is for someone to YT them, my schedule causes me to miss out on some all of these streams and I'd like to take a look at them. Especially the Shimo footage.

Introducing weekly lobbies.

We asked Hiya himself if could upload them. He gave us a very vague answer. So, we don't know where to go from there.

The finals from the tourney this past weekend were pretty exciting. Nago's Hanzo was nuts. I know UltraDavid mentioned that they were going to do an episode covering Yatagarasu next week- some of those matches would be as a reference of how the game looks at a relatively high level.

the one in this vid is pretty nuts. checked it out already and works on all characters (starting from ex shoulder launcher). can sub the last super juggle hit for 5C > 214C reset shenanigans. this character is pretty damn fun! thanks for the bnbs to get me started.

Damn that juggle is intense. I didn't know that the second part of 6BB could be followed up with a real juggle, when it is used in a juggle, or that 5AA links into 2C. Cool.

If anyone was on the fence about getting this game and/or funding the indiegogo campaign, there's an affordable alternative for everyone. In my email I was lead to this site where one can purchase this game among many others in a bundle.

Although I already funded the campaign I might just pick this up as well to give it a try before the later release.
