Evolution 2012: July 6-8 @ Caesar's Palace, Las Vegas NV!

You must look a lot older than you are because casinos are super fucking anal about carding people.

He looks like he's in his 50's. Poor man.

Yeah I'll try to go even for just a side tourney. EVO was fun last time.

inb4 we don't have a session until EVO.

Well, look. I understand people saying "show up and support the scene," but at the same time it's a significant investment of time and money, and it's not like this is a religion or a job or something. It's a game. So if the venue is going to go out if its way to flip off the customers, it's pretty natural for people to express their dislike by not participating in it. I mean, if you don't like a certain kind of movie, you don't say "oh man we all need to go there so they know what we're all about and can listen to what we want in the next one." No you just go to a different movie that you actually like.

Except it'd be more like walking into the theater without paying to get it, and then setting up and watching a different movie.

And there's still going to be a side tournament and there can still be a lot of cool/good people to play against, but people have to actually show up and play.

EVO is coming! Get hype, people! I'm gonna enter me some KOF. I'll enter GG too if there's a side tournament (and I get my stick fixed).

Did you read what Klaig wrote?

It's an insult to compare these distinct beings.

Don't be foolish. It's exactly the same as what the GG community went through.

I do think that you should show up if you are financially able to as it is really fun. But... I have to admit that expecting crazy numbers for BB is kind of unreasonable. The lack of exposure makes the game grow very slowly. I was surprised that we matched Tekken in numbers last year even though there were tons of rumors of no shows.

Our own scene is relatively pretty active, but the number of new members we've gotten is pretty small. I think a total of five joined after I did which was like two years ago.

I imagine it's worse for other scenes. I mean, we are kind of lazy... but we do put in effort to get new people to come out. We even show up and staff at anime conventions to try to get people interested. The only other thing I can think of is selling shirts with Spark and Huey's faces printed on them, but I'm pretty sure that would get shot down. :toot:

It might have just been me, but I was also kind of under the impression that everyone who could show up to EVO last year did. I don't think it's the scene isn't showing up but that the BB community has always been relatively small to begin with. We could try to rope in a bunch of low level players who like animu and pretty lights, but that wouldn't exactly be a positive influence on the community either.

And... actually, from what I know... isn't it kind of the same for other FGs? It's not that they were small got really huge, but that they started out big. But even then actually all of them have been getting smaller numbers as the hype train wears down and casual players move on.

I guess that's my two cents on the matter.

Going to Evo. Giving rides to anyone in Vegas and most of SoCal. This will be a full trip to Cesar's palace and back to your respective homes. Get at me early so I know how much gas I am going to need.

Is the side tourney 360 or PS3? I can provide a 360 set up.

I'm going as long as my friends still go, both for blazblue and soulcalibur, but I can offer a 360 with game and a ps3 without game for BB side tourneys, if someone has an extra game that is. But I'm hyped and ready, its going to be awsome, and anyone that is planning a side tourney for BB, I would be willing to help with organizing and support. Also if someone is hosting a side tournament they should get a thread up soon so we can realy bring the hype

Well BB is still about as popular as any other non-sf4 non-mvc3 game. By pre-sf4 standards the game would be fine popularity wise. The thing is that sf4 blew up since everyone playing the older capcom games flocked to it, same with mvc3. With BB however, CT kind of left a bad taste in people's mouth and many GG players weren't really into it so a scene didn't carry on. Not only that but probably 80% of the capcom fighting game scene won't even touch BB or give it a shot since it isn't capcom and is 'anime'.

If only I were in the States, I would put all my effort in going. But the thing is, if players don't show up this year it will only get worse. Things in shoryuken looks pretty ugly and I wish it were in my place to say something about it, but I am pretty new myself.

I'm basically confirmed for this, so see you guys there!

I don't think PS3/360 GG will be out by then though, so we'll have to lug out the PS2's one last time :v:

I'm pretty sure Plectrum and Zero and a few others are probably going. How big is your ride? We can just drive down there ourselves if we need to, but it would be cool if we could have a place to stay.
