Kyosuke Kagami Report post Posted December 6, 2012 (edited) OKAY WHAT THE F... JAM lives like 100000000km away from me but we're having a BOSS connection WTF this netcode is weird EDIT: OKAY GUYS ITS OFFICIAL. THEY USED BBCS NETCODE (BEFORE THE PATCH) FOR GGAC LMAO Otherwise I can't explain how I got such a nice connection vs JAM and I get shittastic crap vs people from Mexico. Oniros Report post Posted December 6, 2012 As if fate had decided it, the fucking game HAD to come out the day before my final exams start. Sigh, I guess I'll be playing you guys next month.
Star-Demon Report post Posted December 6, 2012 I played SRKCoopa today while he was streaming Coast to Coast - it was Pot versus Baiken and I lost but it was a decent match. Anyways I gotta HOLD a L for a little while. It's good to know I can play people on west coast.
Zeron_X25 Report post Posted December 6, 2012 Star me and you should play GG soon. I wanna assume my dominance in this game as well.
Marisa Report post Posted December 6, 2012 Netcode seems good enough for friendlies if nothing else. Losing a ranked match vs a random due to lag would probably piss me off pretty fast though. But I never play ranked so whatever. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
Kriegdrache Report post Posted December 6, 2012 Im kind of terrified about playing this online now. I thought BB was bad, but these horror stories ;_;
Kyosuke Kagami Report post Posted December 6, 2012 Im kind of terrified about playing this online now. I thought BB was bad, but these horror stories ;_; lets lag, Dudley Actually, I'm suspecting this netcode works decently if you have a REALLY good upload speed. Maybe 5mbps are good enough. Anyone wants to test my theory?
Sophisticat Report post Posted December 6, 2012 It's certainly playable, but the distance factor is more limited than BB.
Seku Report post Posted December 7, 2012 lets lag, Dudley Actually, I'm suspecting this netcode works decently if you have a REALLY good upload speed. Maybe 5mbps are good enough. Anyone wants to test my theory? Me and my friend ( He lives 20 minutes away from me ) and we both have the same upload speed which is 2mbps, and the game plays perfectly ( feels like offline matches )

NGOrder Report post Posted December 7, 2012 Here is things I noticed in the PSN port of the game: 1. Voices are low-quality and are taken from the PS2 ports (I-No's voice clips that contain censor beeps have been edited so she would not call out explicit language) 2. GG and GGX modes are not available at the start. 3. 4:3 screen mode is always letterboxed (windowboxed if using black side panels), unlike the arcade, Wii and PS2 versions' forced full frame. 4. There are no "Short Cut" options; therefore, players are forced to use the regular menu all the time and go though Arcade Mode cutscenes. 5. There are no pre-made defaults for Virtua Stick and Sega Saturn controller schemes. 6a. There is no personalized music feature (as in replacing the game's background music with the player's own MP3/M4A songs). 6b. Korean sountrack is completely ditched, unless a DLC gets released for it. 7. Software reset is completely gone; pressing L1, R1, L2, R2, Start and Select does not take the player back to the title screen anymore. (This could be to avoid rage-quitting, but I dunno) 8. There are lots of noticeable lag during network play. Guilty Gear XX is not meant for slow gameplay. 9. "Exit Game" does not appear in the menu for the PSN release. I would feel much appreciated if Arc did a patch based on what I explained (most notably custom/alternate music and online net code fix).
GaijinMo Report post Posted December 7, 2012 Holy fuck this has to be the worst matchmaking evar...."cannot join room; no longer exists" is the phrase of the day...this is beyond frustrating. I feel like custom search works a bit more often in ranked than player matches (based on very limited experience though), so you could try that. But then you only get to play one match after what feels like hours of waiting. It's lose-lose, I guess. In addition to the actual issues, I think a rematch feature for player matches would be really useful. If not, it'd help if the character select screen could have your previously used character highlighted, and have the preferred colour set pre-specified like single player modes already do. Not a fan of GG's moving cursor and having to switch colour sets each time is annoying. I know that sounds lazy of me, but this port already wastes a shitload of time. In regards to the above post, I think software reset in general is removed from every old game that gets ported to the current consoles. I can't think of any examples where it has been preserved. I would feel much appreciated if Arc did a patch based on what I explained (most notably custom/alternate music and online net code fix). 1) Its a rerelease of a ps2 game that's kind of expected isn't it? 2) GG and GGX mode were unlockables in the PS2 version as well 3) that seems to be the case with most 4:3 games put on 360/ps3 isn't it? arcana 3 had this as well 4) yeah this sucks but this was already noted on the 360 release and jp ps3 release 5) is this really that big of a deal? 6) i guess this sucks? do many other games allow for this? 6b) what korean soundtrack? the #R one? 7) yeah no soft reset is kinda sucks, but it was probably done for the reason you thought 8) its netplay what would you expect 9) what menu.. the main menu to go to the different modes or in the pause menu? NGOrder Report post Posted December 7, 2012 9) what menu.. the main menu to go to the different modes or in the pause menu? For 9, I meant the Main Menu. "Exit Game", like in BlazBlue, takes you back to the title.
Reki Report post Posted December 7, 2012 Bought a ps3 just for online virtua fighter and guilty gear. In vf I made a jpn psn account just to be able to play against jpn players. I did this for gg and there's barely any names coming up on the list and the names don't 'seem' like they're japanese players. Is there something I don't know? My location is philippines, btw. Reki Report post Posted December 7, 2012 Not sure about VF5FS, but GG makes no difference between regions. You get matches vs anyone around the world Regarding vf5fs, I played 800 games on a us account, 300 on an asian account then 200 games on a jpn account then fiddled with 'same area' & 'worldwide' settings to conclude that jpn has their very own server. I was wondering is gg is the same.
Circuitous Report post Posted December 7, 2012 GG is not the same. Japanese and US versions can play each other, regardless of game or physical region.

.otter. Report post Posted December 8, 2012 I would expect a commercial company to produce better code in 8 months than I have in 2 weeks and I don't see why anyone should expect differently... They have made good (maybe the best) fighting game netcode with BB and P4A. I think the problem with GG is the fact that the game itself is much faster and time sensitive so that the latency is more exposed. BB was made with netplay in mind from the ground up. NeoStrayCat Report post Posted December 8, 2012 For 9, I meant the Main Menu. "Exit Game", like in BlazBlue, takes you back to the title. I though "Exit Game" was just for the 360 port just to take you back to the dashboard anyways.
Star-Demon Report post Posted December 8, 2012 I would expect a commercial company to produce better code in 8 months than I have in 2 weeks and I don't see why anyone should expect differently... 1. This game is not BlazBlue. 2. Japan is not America. 3. You weren't the one that had other things to do. Go ahead and email them some of your fantastic code, then. Unless you re asking for a job?
