Thanks to the arrogant Kof Mexican Community (apparently they seemed to have fuck shit while their stay at MLG according to Shoryuken boards) and the low numbers that 2d fighter achieved, it seems as if MLG wont be including any new fighters any time soon. They are already doing very well with their RTS lineup and Mortal Kombat

As far as the grassroots comment, you have to keep in mind SFxT gained a spot at Evo even though it was a new game, only reason it was so because it holds the street fighter name and contains a popular Western existing audience. It would be difficult for a game such as Persona to gain an Evo spot let alone an MLG spot unless every fan in the West asked for the game to be in the lineup and were willing to participate in the tournament

Well BB got an Evo spot when it was new. Then it got 1 again last year. Persona 4 is much better received than BB ever was, so if there is 1 anime fighter on the next Evo it will be Persona. Heck even Melty Blood was at Evo once.

The extended series rule is probably the worst rule in competitive games I've ever seen. I literally once saw a starcraft final (IIRC it was Huk vs MC, theres others too like MVP or MMA?) where the winners bracket guy had already played the person coming from the losers bracket, so he gets to start the set up 2 matches in a best of 7. The guy won 2 matches and the final was over probably the shortest finals ever. Extremely horrible rule. Also there was MKP vs DRG in SC2, where MKP actually reset the bracket from losers but the extended series rule made him have to play one more match than he normally would have to.
