so... what they are saying is that amane seems worse than his former self right now?

 

how is that even possible.

 

though, the translated changes do make things sound a ton worse than it did at first. some of these nerfs are brutal. 5b, 6d, drill, stance, hariken...

 

I hope it's just new character phase and he is ultimately better. at this rate, how is he even going to continue pressure without basically being point blank or using frame traps. and God forbid you use 6d without 100 percent accuracy now. looks like he is going to be a neutral heavy character with  heavily cost, chance-to-botch reversal... sounds like a recipe for cs1 rachel. we'll see

video wise, he doesn look too bad. scarf normals are still specific as heck but the recovery helps alot. same with 5b and 2b whiffs in neutral for whatever reason. common gosei 'oki' is just guessing how the foe will roll and placing the drill accordingly. drills seem a bit underwhelming at lower levels but seem to be required for proper spacing in pressure. (talking about 5d only here) no more 5b zettou I guess. not sure if 5d startup got a buff, if not, it would appear that now there will always be an additional hole to dp through if 5d is attempted to reset pressure via zettou.

he looks more offensive but more or less the same, with gimped tools. I realize these three things are entirely different from one another...

Some 1.1 stuff (and 2.0 I guess)

 

Amane's 5A hits crouching reliably on Tager, Hakumen, Relius

Will hit at least 1 hit on Jin, Platinum

Will unreliably hit sometimes on Arakune and valk

 

5A is +3 if I recall correctly.

Jiro posted a lot of tweets about Amane's 6B potential

 

From 2A starter, 2A 2B 6B jC would lead to max damage

6B jC j6D may connect (Character specifc??), this opens up REALLY GOOD DAMAGE. 6B jC j6D j236A j6C j6D goes for 5K on lvl 3, mid screen. On block, j6D has almost no recovery since you land before the move's recovery and is the most damaging D normal Amane has. I think he mentionned during those tweets (Some omitted) that it whiffs against crouching opponents.

I don't know how this works out, but 5D's damage is the same across all levels? They said they nerfed the damage and all, but how does level 3 drill equates to more damage on hit...

I was testing blockstrings against Bang's drive and noticed something

 

5A whiffs on crouching, but if they're blocking, some characters have a large hurtbox and 5A connects. I did post the list of characters that could be hit by 5A while crouching, here's the updated list. The blockstring tested was 2A > 5A

This should also be the same in CP2.0

 

Relius : Always connects crouching

Makoto : Can be hit crouching only in blockstun, 5A will not connect on hit

Taokaka : Can be hit crouching only in blockstun, 5A only hits once (Did not expect her to be on the list)

Hakumen : Always connect crouching

Kagura : Can be hit crouching only in blockstun, 5A connects on hit

Ragna : Can be hit crouching only in blockstun, 5A connects on hit if delayed

Tager : Always connects crouching

Jin : Will only connect if max range, hits once. 5A connects on hit once

Arakune : Randomly connects while crouching. Connects on hit, does not connect in blockstun

Carl : Always connects crouching

Valk : Connects crouching + blockstun, may hit once at a certain range, one hit on hit

Bang : Connects on hit, connects crouching blockstun

 

5A only hits on hit while crouching

Hazama : only hits once

Terumi : hits once

Noel : Connects if delayed

Amane : Hits once

Rachel : Connects on hit twice

 

 

5A never hits crouching

Litchi

Azrael

Izayoi

Tsubaki

Kokonoe

Platinum

v-13

 

5A is +3 on block, from 2A it's gapless on IB. Pretty useful. To note: If it only hits once, chances are it's the 2nd hit of 5A, therefore this would only be a frametrap against that character.

I randomly across some 2.0 tech while researching videos. Apparently Amane can combo into 6D off of A Hariken Rapid Cancel. The combo I found is off of corner 2B but I'm really excited to find out if other routes like this exist! 1.1 setups were fun but not working on players with match-up XP really sucked, I'll definitely take rapid cancel combos other than just cross-up j2B over it.
