[CP] Azrael - Gameplay Discussion (Pre-Console Release)

Just how fast is TCL for people to choose teleport > TCL over teleport > 5A/2A? Is any part of the rekkas safe on block?

It seems really dangerous to me, yet I keep seeing players do that.

TCL has really good P1 so that is part of the reason they go for it. Not to mention crossing up with teleport then doing TCL is in fact "fast" and would be hard to react to since his forward dash is special cancelable as C0R mentioned. So at least there's some reasoning for doing it. I do not think his backdash is cancelable however but we aren't talking about that.

If I were to guess, Tiger is probably slightly + on block, Cobra is probably 0 or very slightly -, and Leopard is most definitely punishable.

I've seen vids where Tiger looked like it was getting punished on block, same with Cobra. not sure though.. might just be the Az trying to hit buttons/not blocking.

Would make sense though as he already has Gustav as a + on block "rekka" and TCL being what you would use mid-combo as opposed to raw special for pressure/confirming.

Those BNB's look a hell of a lot better than the ones last month. Amazing damage, especially from throws.

Wait is that what the OD does? the WP doesnt go away even when you use it? If so thats fuckin nasty, coz that combo couldve went on for so much more damage ~___~

I've spent way too much time watching, re-watching, and just thinking about those new combo videos, specifically the 2 bnb oriented ones. I can feel pretty secure saying that Valiant and Hornet aren't going to be as dominant in our combos, at least not as much as we originally anticipated. Even when you consider the advantage of easy corner carry with Valiant, we can get from one wall to the other with a LOT of these other combos, usually earning more damage. In many cases, these combos can apply both weakpoints as well, for the relatively small price of just 25 or 50 meter.

One thing that I'm really curious of, is how much damage and corner carry we can squeeze out of weaker confirms like 5A. I'm doubtful that we will be able to get both weakpoints in many situations off something like that, even with meter (I'm ignoring scud punishment for the moment). At least, I don't think it will be as easy. It's just one more thing I want to explore fully once the console release comes out.

We already have plenty of proof that we can EASILY apply the upper and lower WP in many situation off something like 5B or any confirm where a WP was already applied.

If stuff like we saw in those bnb vids becomes more prevalent (primarily the first of the two, with the midscreen combos) then we might start seeing a lot more lower WPs in matches. Just from watching the combos that end in TCL > 3C.

EDIT: And of course, I didn't mention difficulty being a factor. Some of this stuff looks like it could end up being incredibly hard to make use of at first. Especially when you consider the use of links and IADs, this stuff could end up being almost impractical in a real match. But then again, I see plenty of people never drop stuff with Hakumen (which these combos remind me of, Ex Haku anyway) so it might not be too tough with the right amount of practice.

His combos look about as difficult as EX Hakumen. So it wont take long to start running train with Az.

I reckon his biggest downsides will be matchups. Hazama comes straight into my head as a nightmare. Take on of the best EX Characters, give him buffs and let him run wild in a cast that just got nerfed almost universally.

Though, once Azrael gets in and you're on the deck. The round can end really quickly for any character. (Especially of throws. Shit they go a lot of damage)

What are the OD property changes to BHS, besides glowing in his menacing aura and a sliding effect? I remember reading something here about it having projectile invincibility no?

Can you follow up OD BHS' sliding effect in the corner? What are the property changes to OD SP? I think I read something about autoguard in start up, or was that BSH as well :/
