Sengoku Basara X: Combos, strategy, discussion

Lots of them looked rusty or just plain bad (I don't blame them).

Hideyoshi tech I'd never seen before... amusing.

Thanks for the vids.

This.

Also, I noticed a long time ago, some glitch causing Oichi to just sit there.

Something like MvC gambit glitch?

What's the story on that? (I take it it's banned in SBO, since I didn't see any of it here.)

Good to see you're still around feri, btw.

Good shit, Hecatom.

Can someone explain to me why there are levels constantly rising under the chars health bars?

Also, who's my sexy waifu with the weird summons and stuff?

EDIT- Ohhh, it's Oichi.

DOUBLE EDIT- Are there sprite rips for this game somewhere?

the level represents the engun aka the assist level, it increase gradually until it reach level 100 or you summon your engun, after he/she arrives it will start to level up again

the level determinates the strenght of the attack, the numbers of hits that does and or how long its the reach of the attack, it also determinates how many times you will able to use it in one combo

1 to 49 1 time

50 to 99 from 2 to 3 times

100 3 times plus it adds the element atribute to the attack like thunder for kojuro, shadow for sasuke and so

the exception to this rules are mouri, motochika and honda that have their particular engun systems

for the sprites, i know that there are some mugen version for masamune, kojuro, oichi, keiji and mouri

dunno if there are more, i tryed to find the sprites but not luck till now :gonk:

guess that none of them touched the game in long time :P

use kenshin's counters to counter oichi's qcb+B/C shadow hand moves (while she is in shadow mode.)after you do the counter, oichi will freeze and be unable to move.

it was removed on the ps2 port

btw been playing the game from time to time, im interested to post some matches but dont expect anything fancy if i post any, plus its always the same match, masamune vs oichi :P

it doesnt help that only 2 persons play the game on my city, at least that im aware

edit

i noticed until now that there arent masamune players on the sbo this year

it mades me a sad panda

Thanks for all the info, Heca.

I'll keep an eye out for the sprites I guess.

Anywhere where I can find more general info on the game/chars/combos besides wiki?

I'd hate to have to keep bothering you with questions.

Also, post your matches!

I figured out a delayed getup or a quick rise (I forget which) in this game but its not listed.

I'm not trolling I swear its there :psyduck:. I was working out how to get out of mori UB okizeme and came across it.

How is this game? I've always wanted to import it, but aside from not knowing how to bypass region encoding, I heard it and the Hokuto no Ken game (which I also want) are terribad.

Honestly I liked HNK more then this game. And not just from the theme - gameplay as well. Both games have some pretty absurdly broken combos - but atleast in HNK nearly everyone has some form of 100%, cept maybe Jagi.

what are you saying, HNK is broken, unbalanced but over all extremely HYPE!!!

as for youre question, you should play it to see if you like them or not

in my case i enjoy both games, even when they are broken and have stupid shit on them

How exactly would I go about playing them? I'd completely disregard said reviews, as most good fighting games get horrible reviews, and the balance level wouldn't matter to me so much since i'd just be playing by myself or just playing with friends anyway, but I have no way of actually playing them. If I knew how to bypass region encoding or any method to make my PS2 run the games, i'd snap them up in a heartbeat.

ARGH it sucks that all the forums listed here died!!! I just picked up this game recently. I've been reading a few of the posts and I get the gist of the mechanics but there are still a few things left unclear. For example some characters have a setting in kanji when you select them. One in red the other in blue. I'm not sure what this does. I also would like to know the engun movelists as I have no Idea what they do or how to do them. I play Yukimura and nothing in this forum talks about his enguns. It's also not listed in his command list from what I can see. Oh well...

There are a couple of ways to do it: you can mod your PS2 with the necessary chipset (soldering experience required), you can also use Swap Magic which is what most people use. It's a cd which allows you to read any region game. The only thing is that there are several methods that are required to use this CD. You can find out more by google searching it. I would go into it a bit more but that'd be going off topic.

ultra outdated site, it only has the original info without the combos, gatlings and other stuff that were added with the time plus only shows the info for the original 10 chars of the arcade version (too lazy to update the info)

http://www.mediafire.com/?t3z4ccj7p49rwpf

as for the kanjis when you select the char, the 1st option is the normal mode, the other easy mode, on easy mode you do the special by pressing L1,L2,R1,R2, on the button config you can set what specials are for what button

Thanks. This is definitely enough to help me get started. I'll pass this file around to a few of my friends who are interested in playing as well. I probably won't be able to but I'm trying to build up a small following here in Mass. At least for casuals anyway since I doubt anyone is gonna really take this game serious over here.

Games like these and Hokuto deserve a sequel.

So much potential, it needs some tweaking to become solid fighters by their own.

People think these two games in particular are too "broken" and combos are hard to learn for newcomers.

But we still have MVC2 to play. wait wha...

I know, right? So much bias...

Anyway, is this similar to HnK in playstyle? And it's by Arc System Works right? Why do some people say Capcom then?
