Stryfe Report post Posted July 9, 2008 Eh, 6-4? I agree with Whyte, A.B.A isn't that easy of a fight at all. Matter of fact, does I-no even have any 6-4 matchups in her favor?
bucklemyshoe Report post Posted July 9, 2008 While I'm sure most of you won't agree, I honestly feel that Potemkin is a 6-4 match in I-No's favor. I'd rate her match ups like this: (I-No's rating is the first number) Order-Sol - 4.5/5.5 (maybe 5/5) A.B.A. - 6/4 Dizzy - 4/6 Robo-Ky - 4.5/5.5 (not that I really have any Robo-Ky experince) Sol Badguy 5/5 (maybe 5.5 Sol) Eddie 5.5/4.5 Ky Kiske 3.5/6.5 Potemkin 6/4 (her best match IMO) Faust 5/5 (i really don't have any Faust experince to give this an accurate rating) May 1.5/8.5 (maybe 9 may) Millia Rage 4/6 Chipp Zanuff 4/6 Baiken 4/6 Jam Kuradoberi 4/6 Johnny 2.5/7.5 (this is a hard fight) Axl Low 4/6 Anji Mito 3/7 Venom 4.5/5.5 Testement 5.5/4.5 Slayer 4.5/5.5 Zappa 5/5 Bridget 4.5/5.
Stryfe Report post Posted July 9, 2008 While I'm sure most of you won't agree, I honestly feel that Potemkin is a 6-4 match in I-No's favor. I'd rate her match ups like this: (I-No's rating is the first number) Order-Sol - 4.5/5.5 (maybe 5/5) A.B.A. - 6/4 Dizzy - 4/6 Robo-Ky - 4.5/5.5 (not that I really have any Robo-Ky experince) Sol Badguy 5/5 (maybe 5.5 Sol) Eddie 5.5/4.5 Ky Kiske 3.5/6.5 Potemkin 6/4 (her best match IMO) Faust 5/5 (i really don't have any Faust experince to give this an accurate rating) May 1.5/8.5 (maybe 9 may) Millia Rage 4/6 Chipp Zanuff 4/6 Baiken 4/6 Jam Kuradoberi 4/6 Johnny 2.5/7.5 (this is a hard fight) Axl Low 4/6 Anji Mito 3/7 Venom 4.5/5.5 Testement 5.5/4.5 Slayer 4.5/5.5 Zappa 5/5 Bridget 4.5/5.5 Whats EXTREMELY ironic about this list is that all of her strong matchups are against the characters who, IMO, give I-no the most problems. Potemkin vs I-no is definitely in his favor, remember he has Potemkin Buster. Testament is definitely not in her favor either because he controls a ton of space. Johnny is more difficult than the aforementioned?! Maybe you're playing against an AMAZING Johnny, and really scrubby Potemkins, Testaments, and Eddies. I don't mean to come off as an ass by the way, I just disagree that's all I do agree with Axl and Baiken, though. A lot of those characters I don't have a lot of experience against, so I don't think I'm in a good position to comment on them.
whytesakura Report post Posted July 9, 2008 alright i-no really has no fights in her favor. most chars either outrange i-no or are really hard to get in against. best match ups for her are def 5-5 just like johnny. Its funny how bridget has a 6-4 match against pot lol. all i-no fights are pretty much in her favor once she gets them blocking. getting them blocking isn't easy though baiken is different because i-no has to bait everything i would say an easier fight for i-no would be and only be johnny and/or slayer. despite the fact that they both outrange i-no. bucklemyshoe Report post Posted July 9, 2008 how is johnny an easier fight? HCL wiffs more than half the time when you combo into it. his charachter specific combos are worst than sol's. 5h doesn't cost you 25% tension everytime you mess up. also, Testement isn't a threat, if he's causing you problems you need to either pay more attention to his trap placement or learn how to disarm his traps. bucklemyshoe Report post Posted July 9, 2008 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xcHrY2q_qT0 and as another example, my favorite I-No player, Inoue. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cE0XfF7LChM (ignore the fact that he obliterates Satsuu in the first match, Testement is the one in discussion)
whytesakura Report post Posted July 9, 2008 alrighty lets put it like this testament is HARD TO GET IN ON!!!!! Testament has a whole arsenal of moves that say: "NO I-NO" (5p,6p,6k,6hs, phantom soul) i used to play testament so i know..just watch shounen vs. koichi..it was badlands city. I-no really has nothing on testament besides a note, hcl, and faster pokes. besides the fact of johnny outranging Ino once you throw a projectile in his way it is hard for him to get around that. johnny is easy to combo and he is one of the few that gets hit by hcl off of 2d...I know this because i fight 4r5 johnny. simple combo 2k 6p 5hs hcl everyone gets hit by that unless you start the combo off with a jump in; in that case sol won't get hit by 5hs. whytesakura Report post Posted July 9, 2008 johnny has no good match-ups either...he is easily zoned.
bucklemyshoe Report post Posted July 9, 2008 What do you mean one of the few? 2D HCL works on almost the entire cast. Only charachters I know it doesn't work on is I-No and ABA. There may be a few more but it works on the majority.
Stryfe Report post Posted July 9, 2008 Yeah, I fight against a good Johnny player regulary as well, and he definitely has just as much trouble fighting my I-no as I do his Johnny. Johnny doesn't have any matchups that are severly in his favor at all, in fact, most of his matchups are severly not in his favor. A GOOD Testament isn't easy to fight, he has so many tools to keep I-no out. Traps, webs, EXE beasts...I don't understand how this would be an easy fight unless the Testament player was really scrubby. Even on paper it looks like a really nasty fight.
bucklemyshoe Report post Posted July 9, 2008 Sol won't get hit by a 5HS even without a jump in unless you omit everything before a 6P. 2K 6P 5H HCL works on Johnny but the follow up HCL will wiff if you don't take the combo into the air. I made a little vid just for you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zze2jInBNug

whytesakura Report post Posted July 9, 2008 the necessary mixup that leads to 6frc6 from 2d hcl doesn't really work on these chars: ky, axl, baiken, venom, jam, a.b.a, robo ky, i-no(? didn't test that one out)

stinkymonz Report post Posted July 9, 2008 Er, 2D HCL should work on JO unless it's max range or pushback pushed you out too far from the corner if it was the corner. follow up HCL That's more fault of your TK rather than it doesn't or won't combo on Johnny. At 0:05's sequence, where you try it at midscreen I can see you TK AWAY from JO and it's high. JO's hitbox is nitpicky that way in that you don't have much leeway to vary your TKs; in fact optimally you should TK only to get the airdash, the height and spacing should not vary much if at all from the height of a regular ground HCL. Otherwise most of the time it won't even hit him as you have experienced. Not sure if you know this or not, but you can't TK HCL and combo off 5S on anyone; worth mentioning since you had put in 2 attempts of that. JI HCL > TK HCL
whytesakura Report post Posted July 9, 2008 i tiger knee hcl but of course youll never notice because the jump is cancelled by hcl. when i tiger knee hcl in a combo it is the same height as if i were to jump install it. sorry i meant to remove johnny from the 2d hcl. ill edit that. tigerkneeing hcl it is the same as jump installing it if done correctly. ji hcl = tk hcl
whytesakura Report post Posted July 9, 2008 just gotta have fast hands.
bucklemyshoe Report post Posted July 9, 2008 If it comes out the same height than you're not TKing it you're using the JI version. You can do a 360 on a JCable move and depending on your timing of when you input k/s it will determine if it's TK'd or JI'd. You're right SM, you can't TK the HCL off c.S but you can JI and it works just fine. Don't know why I thought you could. 2D works depending on the combo and where you do it at. For instance jK, jS, 5K, c.S, 2H, 2D, HCL works midscreen but in the corner the HCL will wiff.
whytesakura Report post Posted July 9, 2008 in order to ji it sometimes you have to tk it though. there really is no point in tking hcl in a combo unless you're going for the ji. -doing an attack on the first frame of landing after dashing jump installs -jump installing it the hard way by cancelling a jump cancel;doing a tiger knee hcl on a jump cancellable move (which is all of her neutral moves besides far slash, nothing else) -dashing in and the first attack hits and you continue the combo. TGS Report post Posted July 9, 2008 While I'm sure most of you won't agree, I honestly feel that Potemkin is a 6-4 match in I-No's favor. I'd rate her match ups like this: (I-No's rating is the first number) Order-Sol - 4.5/5.5 (maybe 5/5) A.B.A. - 6/4 Dizzy - 4/6 Robo-Ky - 4.5/5.5 (not that I really have any Robo-Ky experince) Sol Badguy 5/5 (maybe 5.5 Sol) Eddie 5.5/4.5 Ky Kiske 3.5/6.5 Potemkin 6/4 (her best match IMO) Faust 5/5 (i really don't have any Faust experince to give this an accurate rating) May 1.5/8.5 (maybe 9 may) Millia Rage 4/6 Chipp Zanuff 4/6 Baiken 4/6 Jam Kuradoberi 4/6 Johnny 2.5/7.5 (this is a hard fight) Axl Low 4/6 Anji Mito 3/7 Venom 4.5/5.5 Testement 5.5/4.5 Slayer 4.5/5.5 Zappa 5/5 Bridget 4.5/5.5 This is the most list I've ever seen, and this is coming from someone that has the benefit of having actual competition to play against... If anything, out of the top 3 (Eddie, Testament, Potemkin), her "best" matchup is probably 5-5 against Eddie, while against Testament and Potemkin it's 6-4 or worse in their favor. I don't know where you're getting that I-No vs. Pot is 6-4 in I-No's favor; either your I-No is godlike (which I highly doubt after seeing those Koogy meet vids), or you're playing against terrible Potemkins (which is the most likely case). I'd really like to see your reasoning behind it, especially since I play against some of the best Potemkins on the West Coast and I sure could use all the help I can get... RaptorIIC Report post Posted July 9, 2008 Related post; have you seen the late 2007 matchup chart that Moroha posted in the ABA boards? http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3272 - Moroha's thread http://jbbs.livedoor.jp/bbs/read.cgi/game/34745/1172460815/ - Direct link That may be modified now, but not to the point where I-no is any higher than a C tier character imho. mynusdono Report post Posted July 10, 2008 You guys seriously need a wakeup call. Or at least contact someone with matchup exp before posting something like these numbers online to make a discussion based on theory fighter. this is the ACCURATE matchup chart. feel free to ask any questions why they are listed as such..... I can bet my life savings that i have the most exp against all matchups in the cast as the NYC/NJ community is rediculously diverse, plus we have a japanese liason in MarlinPie to get all the latest knowledge and tactics. (plus he plays everyone so we can see this in practice.) MATCHUPS: Order-Sol - 4.5/5.5 (you are correct sir sol specific combos ftw. note him to death.) A.B.A. - 6/4 (knockdown fest for I-no lolz) Dizzy - 6/4 (I-no has excellent maneuverablility to get in. Hit her twice and shes done) Robo-Ky - 4/6 (too many wakeup options limit her oki. risk/reward is bad. no tension combo) Sol Badguy - 5/5 (pure even match. Sol gets baited hard. learn those Sol/Hos combos!!) Eddie 4.9/5.1 (no matter HOW GOOD a char fight eddie, 1 hit> dizzy> IK = eddie advantage) Ky Kiske - 4/6 (too many AA options for ky. use those no tension combos in the corner!!) Potemkin - 6/4 (good match for ino since she can completely control his movement.) Faust - 4/6 (outranges her and counter hits everything I-no chan does note all day!) May - 2/8 (OMG worst matchup evar!! almost as bad as SL/PO. KD and stay on her!!!) Millia Rage - 4/6 (Use j.p to try and limit her air approach. no wakeup options = bad ) Chipp Zanuff - 3/7 (try and catch this fucking pokemon....but hit him once and......) Baiken 4.5/5.5 - (bait city. baikens abare ability gives her the advantage.) Jam Kuradoberi - 5/5 (never try to air to air her. stay on ground and STBT ex puff for CH) *****Johnny - 8/2 (this is a hard fight my ass!! so freeeeeeeeeeee he has no chance. no chance. no chance. You can combo movie his hitbox. and if you are JI your HCL's like you should, there is no reason why you cant combo that... :I: :I: tensionless combos ftw.) Axl Low - 4/6 (patience wins this one. his hitbox is a pain to combo.) Anji Mito - 5/5 (jump in with jK to clash or beat his godly 5p. bait fuujin with note and punish with stbt.) Venom - 4.5/5.5 (use your hover dash/dj, note and HCL to stuff his balls formations.) Testement - 5.5/4.5 (Ino can dash over hitomi and forward exe beast for free. STBT passes forward exe beast. use hcl to activate web full screen or note. KD and hes done. he has no AA or wakeup to stop the ass rape. dont get hit tho...) Slayer - 5/5 (melee fight. stay on that ass, he has no AA options.) Zappa - 5/5 (watchout for centipede on wakeup.) 6/4 (ghosts) [far slash, CL, stbt, shashback owns ghosts.] 6/4 (Dog) [inos maneuverability is too good. Her backdash is 11frames invul son!] 3/7 (sword) [GET HIM OUT OF THIS MODE!!!!] 7/3 (Raoh) [Free rape for ino. stbt under fireball or HCL. keep combos long. smart zappa will stay with sword on ino.] Bridget - 5.5/4.5 (Buri's AA options are GODLIKE. stay out of air son. hit her once and she'll need a blood transfusion) Discussion and questions....now! vids of me recent...
