[CP 1.1] Iron Tager Gameplay Discussion

Recommended Posts

OMG i just started watching the tournament stream and can now confirm 5D small wall bounces on both Normal hit air or ground. Tagers combos look sooo good.

This links to the first (non stylish mode) Tager match, and showcases a few things I've not seen before or

B Sledge now pops up pretty high into the air if it hits an aerial opponent. 2C counter hit floated slightly away from Tager, rather than straight up and down as usual. Unfortunately didn't see a non-combo 6A on aerial opponent, so dunno how strong magnetism pull is there, but grounded one looks as bad as ever.

The next one is at ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrsWN7pMjDM#t=1h04m45s ), and starts off immediately with 5D. Very small wall bounce now, apparently. Not sure what the implications are there from full screen, or even if there are any new ones. B sledge barely missed, spark bolt already combo'd off 5D, so idk. Nothing else 1st round, 2nd round he got bodied so don't even bother lol. I take back what I said about 6A. Uses it just before the 1hr7m mark, and it looks like the pull gets substantially stronger the longer it's held. Started off with same slow pull, then suddenly Jin covered 1/3 of the screen very quickly.

Next match at ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrsWN7pMjDM#t=1h42m00s ), but it's stylish. Still saw some new stuff though. At ~1:42:45, you see the 5D wallbound in the corner, and briefly afterward you can see the A sledge wallbound as well that was mentioned a bit earlier in the topic. Briefly, until hammer smacks Mu to the ground.

Next match at ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrsWN7pMjDM#t=2h08m40s ). Ish. 1st round didn't do anything new. At 2:10:18, we see what I've been scared of this entire time since seeing Hammer just smack to the ground in combos - counter-hit Hammer lead to jack shit. That untech time is not enough to do anything without a rapid, and that's on counter. Eesh. RIP Hammer.

That's it for Tager matches.

Maybe they did this because Hammer has guardpoint now. If Hammer Counter is so much easier to get counter hits they want you to use meter to combo off of it. If this is the case then im happy with it. I Rarely ever got hammer counter hits anyway with sledgehammer. Not with hammer counter either since without hammer GP it was rarely worth using. They better have given Hammer 100p1 because of this.

Does magnetic pull affect opponents who are in the air after a wall bound? If not I guess my ideas on 5D midscreen followups are faulty.

Does 6C look faster than in the loke test video?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrsWN7pMjDM&t=54m12s

Finally we get to witness GCOGETB in all its Glory

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DCr1DIzyYY

Also did anyone check to see if it looked like they did anything to unnerf his back dash?

No body in the tournament tried.

I swear 6C looks faster but I could be UTTERLY wrong about that. Maybe I just never truly payed attention to its speed before.

I suppose I could fire up the current version, get in the corner, do something with wall bound, and then follow it with AC to see what happens. 4D wall bounds vs airborn, right?

Yes 4D and jD both wall bound vs airborn.

K. Just making sure it wasn't a very small wallbounce or something.

Also I'm at work for a few more hours. If anyone else can try this out in the meantime that'd be appreciated. Just 4D (air hit) > RC > [AC] in the corner should do the trick, to simulate a special cancel.

Ok i just finished testing 4D (air hit) > RC > [AC] myself and it works great. Air hit 4D sends them flying  pretty far away, and if there close enough to hit the corner RC>AC can pull them half way across the screen back to you. CP2 5D is going to be wonderfull. Its such garbage now im happy they made it so much better.

Damn, yeah, it might become a midrange poke that demands proper respect for once.

After years of dealing with Litchi and other characters pulling midscreen crap like that casually and converting into full combos, it'll be a nice change of pace. Put your big arms to use Tager! Take a lesson from Waldstein.

Also holy shit Tager mirrors will look a million times dumber, lol.

6C faster

Hammer knocks down

Sledge wall stick

2C blows them further away

5D bounds midscreen?

5A leads to 2.2k

Spark loses to Nu 5D?

Things I have seen.

Yay, VTC>Hammer went from a gimmicky read with pretty good payoff to... a gimmicky read with no payoff.

Ok i watched this part over several times in a row and this was not a counter-hit. So untill someone actually sees a hammer counter-hit we still dont know if you can combo off of hammer counter-hit or not. We should at the very least be able to Gadget on counter.

Also some very good proration buffs from CP2Tager twitter feed https://twitter.com/hashtag/cp2%E3%83%86%E3%82%A4%E3%82%AC%E3%83%BC?f=realtime&src=hash

So we can do decent damage from Gadget RC now

Also were no longer so severely penalized for using multiple drives in a combo without killing our damage like it does now.

Nu 5D level went up, so possible they'll cancel?  It looks like it starts out at level 2 for the first sword and either decays to level 1 during end of flight or just goes to level 1 when second sword fires.  Unclear.

Is the combo timer after Gadget still super short though? Are we actually going to be able to do more than just GP and 2C>AC junk?

i dont know but it will at least give some more damage in that short amount of time

Her demo video clearly shows that the swords simply degrade in level over time, without summoning any follow-ups.

Not feeling what i am seeing so far, perhaps is to soon to form a good opinion, but i can't say that i see myself playing BBCP 2.0 with how Tager seems so far
