[CP 2.0] Iron Tager Gameplay Discussion

The 2nd post of this thread has been once again updated with newest most complete translated list of currently known CP2 Tager changes with new stuff not before known or discussed. Thanks to SoWL and Argent Zero for translations.

According to these top players early opinions on Tager he is so far regarded as "A-tier" and "Looks Strong" even though from videos Tager players still haven't really got him down very much yet.

Since you guys were thirsting for tier lists the other day and fell into anon BBS territory, lemme give you some early tier list and impressions from known players:

Damn, they buffed the shit out of 2D. I'm assuming the extra active frames mean longer recovery unless they adjusted that as well.

 

I didn't realize they removed hammer's projectile guard point in the process of giving it high/mid guard point. I'm not sure if I'm going to like that trade-off very much in zoner matchups.

 

The change to normal throws is just weird.

Where does it say it lost projectile guard point? Also, wouldn't high/mid guard point be effectively the same thing? Unless they do a low projectile, which do exist.

Hammer

  • P2 changed from: 85 -> 90

  • Elimination of guard point for projectiles
  • Causes forced down (Can follow up with 5B in case of a CH)
  • Combo Rate Time: Normal -> Fast

I was kind of confused as well. High/mid guard point could imply it still blocks projectiles (aside from low hitting ones), but then why would it have been mentioned as a nerf in the first place?

If a high guard can block a projectile, then a high guardpoint can do it. All it really means is that those rare low-hitting projectile moves will hit tager through hammer.

B Sledge

  • Normal Hit is +8(9?) and now can be connected with 5A or 2B
  • Easier to combo from on air hit because aerial hit causes opponent to float high.
  • Seems to go through bursts
  • P2 changed from: 92 -> 89
  • Frame advantage: +1 -> -2

Thanks! i just cant wait until some actual Tager combo videos come out. Then we will finally get to see some really great videos after they finish adjusting and start to get his stuff down.

Also, regarding jC CH combos, they are possible now, but I really think they adjusted the time in which jC can be chained in to other normals. Unless Tager has fully recovered from jC in the second clip and is linking the jB.

That 6B, 6B ODC, 6B, 6B xx super combo got me thinking. What's Tager's max amount of 6B he can do in a combo now? I'm thinking eight might be possible.

*Tager cornered* (air hit 6A?) 6B, 6B ODC, 6B, 6B xx spark bolt, collider (opponent now cornered), 6B, 6B xx MTW, rapid, 6B, 6B xx gadget.

You know, with all the Tagers doing 6A>6C links now, I'm surprised none of them are going for GP enders. Is the damage not worth it anymore?
