Chaos Code

Recommended Posts

that might be them, i read on some blog that they made a fighting game on that kakutosei engine and sent it to arcsys, who were quite impressed. They are based in australia, and the blog (entry from november) said the game would come out for PC: i guess they changed it to arcade meanwhile.

Speaking of SCWU2 Final...I had both the original PC game and the one demo with Zero (Heero Yuy as Wing Zero) playable, did they finish that? :?:

BUMP ! (Sorry 'bout that :v:)

Are there any new info about this game ? 'cause it seems awesome. I'm hoping for a home release, even if it has 10% of chance to happen.

theorically the game is gonna be out on pc, since the developers said at the begining of the project that they want to implement online game on it, this of course, was before they started to work on the game for arcades

Maybe we'll get it someday, if they started it for PC...I hope so. Do you know if it's played in Japan ? I mean, if it has some success.

Game System

Game system update, will post updated move lists tomorrrow.

Miscellaneous information

The Chaos Gauge (Super meter) can hold up to three stocks at any time.

A dizzy meter is present, as in Street Fighter 3 series and King of Fighters XI.

Before each battle, you must "select your bounce", i.e. choose between the Step (dash) and Run abilities. The Step can be cancelled into (attack -> Step), thereby eliminating some recovery time, while the Run can be cancelled from (Run -> attack or High Jump), allowing a character to move in on the opponent more easily.

Next, you are given your choice of two Extra moves out of a total of four. Each character has two Extra special moves and two Extra Ultimate Chaos moves (Level 1 Super moves) to choose from.

Movement/defensive system overview

Step/Run (selectable)

f, f (hold f to run)

Backdash

b, b

High Jump

db/d/df, ub/u/uf or run, ub/u/uf

High Jump cancel

Cancellable normal moves (but not special moves) and the Run may be cancelled into a high jump.

Air dash

f, f (in the air)

Double jump

ub/u/uf (in the air)

Roll

AB/f+AB/b+AB

Ground ukemi (recovery roll)

AB (when about to touch the ground)

Aerial ukemi (air recovery)

direction + AB when launched into the air

Tactical Guard

CD (requires half a stock of Chaos Gauge; can be done in the air)

If your character absorbs an attack, he/she will automatically counterattack.

Offensive system overview

A = weak punch

B = weak kick

C = strong punch

D = strong kick

Chaos Combo

Normal moves can be chained together as per this flowchart:

A -> B -> C -> D

Throw

AC

Throw escape

C (just before being thrown)

Counter Hit

A Counter Hit will yield longer hit stun than a normal hit, allowing additional attacks to connect. For example, a sweep cannot be followed up by anything on a normal hit, but can on a Counter Hit.

Guard Break Attack

f+CD (requires one stock of Chaos Gauge)

This move will break an opponent’s guard and can be cancelled into from normal moves.

EX special move

special move motion +AC/BD (requires half a stock of Chaos Gauge)

Not every special move has an EX version, and none of the Extra special moves does.

Ultimate Chaos/Extra Ultimate Chaos (Level 1 Super move)

motion + one button (requires one stock of Chaos Gauge)

Destruction Chaos (Level 3 Super move)

qcf, hcb/qcb, hcf+AC (requires three stocks of Chaos Gauge; cannot be done during Exceed Chaos)

Chaos Cancel (Super Cancel)

special move -> Ultimate Chaos (requires one extra stock of Chaos Gauge for a total of two stocks)

Chaos Shift

AB/f+AB during Ultimate Chaos (requires one extra stock of Chaos Gauge for a total of two stocks)

An Ultimate Chaos move can be cancelled into a special form of movement as an escape tactic or to allow for follow-up attacks.

Exceed Chaos

BC (requires three stocks of Chaos Gauge; can be cancelled into from normal and special moves)

Upon the activation of Exceed Chaos, the Chaos Gauge begins to drain until it reaches zero. EC carries several benefits:

1) The dizzy meter empties instantly

2) Gradual life recovery

3) All attacks become cancellable

4) All moves which use Chaos Gauge consume a portion of the timer, the amount corresponding to their normal gauge cost (allowing for otherwise impossible combos, such as special move -> Chaos Cancel into Ultimate Chaos -> Chaos Shift into normal move -> Ultimate Chaos or EX special move…)

Notes

Chuubou Zeseiiki

"zesei" (different "sei" kanji) means "to correct"/"rectify"

Senpuu Dai Kochou

"ko" means "aroma", "fragrance", while "chou" is "intestines", "entrails." "kouchou" (different "ko" kanji) means "flatulence"/"bloating."

Shoutai Dai Shokutaku

"shokutaku" means "dining table", while "taishoku" means "glutton(y)", "voracity."

Jounetsu Goutentou

"go" is "roar", "thunder", "ten" is "heaven" and "tou" is "hot water." "gouzen (to)" is "with a roar", "deafeningly."

Hishou Hougyouza

A potsticker is a "pan-fried dumpling stuffed with minced pork and vegetables."

Dohon! Jadou Sokuryouri

"do" means "anger"/"rage", and "hon" is "turn." "jadou" means "evil path" or "evil course."

Honten!

Again, "ten" is "heaven", while "honzen" is "suddenly." Apparently, Bravo pronounces "zen" as "ten."

Kisha! Shinsei Daisanbou

"sanbou" ("three treasures") may (jokingly) refer to the three treasures of Buddhism (Buddha, the sutras and the priesthood) or the Imperial Regalia of Japan (the sword, the jewel and the mirror).

Shougeki! Hantenteki Kiki

"hanten" literally means "food store." The "-teki kiki" ("-type crisis") part may be a pun ("…kikiki").

Tourai! Saikoukyuu Kihin

"kihin" means "distinguished guest."

Destruction Chaos

Perfect Family Renkei Bomber (Perfect Family Cooperation Bomber)

qcb, hcf+AC

Notes

Tokkoumai

"toku" means "special" and "kou" means "attack", while "tokkou" (using a different "kou" kanji) means "special efficacy." Perhaps the name is to be read "Toku Koumai/Toku Kou Imouto" instead.

Sandan

"san" means "scatter" or "disperse", whereas "sandan" (different "san" kanji) means "buckshot."

Chuuryaku

"chuuryaku" is an ellipsis or an omission of a word or phrase. In this case, it may refer to a dramatic pause.

Catherine

Command attacks

Ningyohime (Mermaid Princess)

f+B

Overhead (?) mermaid tail slap.

Special moves

Mahou no Harmony (EX) (Sorcery’s Harmony)

qcf+P/AC

Short-range note projectile (used for zoning/lockdown?).

Extra special moves

Houshi shichauzo! (I’ll give you service!/I’ll serve you!)

qcb+K

Bunny no Otakebi (Bunny’s War Cry/Roar)

qcb+K (in the air)

Ultimate Chaos

Shiawase no Kane – Goal In! (Bell of Happiness – Goal In!)

qcfx2+P

Catherine tosses a bell. On hit or block (miss?), a score of bells and what looks like a scene parodying The Creation of Adam falls onto the opponent.

Ai wa Bunshin Satsupou (Love is Killing by Clones)

qcbx2+K

Catherine is trailed by a green, semi-transparent "shadow clone" who mimics his movement.

Extra Ultimate Chaos

Kagami no naka no Shinjitsu (The Truth in the Mirror)

qcbx2+P

Catherine dons a witch's robes and holds out an apple. If the opponent attacks him, he summons a large mirror and slips into a queen's (?) dress. The image of a beautiful princess appears in the mirror, and Catherine throws the apple through it and at the opponent.

This move is an obvious reference to the most well-known plot points in the tale of Snow White - an old crone offers the heroine a poisoned apple, and a mirror tells the evil queen that Snow White - and not the queen - is the fairest in the land.

Nyan Nyan Miracle Dynamite (Meow Meow Miracle Dynamite)

qcf, hcb+K

Destruction Chaos

Otome no Shining Heart (A Maiden’s Shining Heart)

qcf, hcb+AC

Notes

Shouakuma

"shouaku" means "minor offense", while "akuma" is "devil."

Jun'ai Coming Out

Heh-heh, heh-heh, he said "coming out"… I take it any doubts regarding Catherine’s gender may now safely be cast aside? BTW, "jun’ai" can also mean "Platonic love."

Ai wa Bunshin Satsupou

"bunshin" is "clone" or "alter ego" and "satsupou" is "killing method."

Notes

Cthylla

In the Cthulhu mythos, Cthylla is stated to be Cthulhu's daughter (the youngest of his offspring, yet still a Great Old One). He intends for her to re-birth him in the distant future, after his destruction.

Kokuu no Genhou Yog-Sothoth

"kokuu" means "empty space" or "the sky." "Gen" is "illusion" or "apparition", and "hou" means "bubble", "foam" or "froth." Yog-Sothoth is an omniscient and quite alien entity who is often associated with the concepts of borders, gates and keys.

Kaze ni Nori Ithaqua Upper

"kaze ni nori" means "riding the wind" or "carried by the wind." Ithaqua, a Great Old One believed to prowl the frozen north, is sometimes known as the Wind-Walker.

Papaloi no Yubiwa

"yubiwa" means "(finger) ring." "The Rings of the Papaloi" is a horror story written by by Donald J. Walsh, Jr. It appears in August Derleth’s anthology "Dark Things." Apparently, a papaloi is a witch doctor, houngan/mambo ("voodoo priest") or shaman.

Tindalos no Shiryouken

The Hounds of Tindalos are fearsome creatures who appear out of angles to stalk their prey. "ryouken" means "hunting dog/hound", while "shi" means "animal offspring." The kun reading of "shi" is "ko", so an alternate reading of the name is "Koryouken" (the names may be puns on "Shou Ryuu Ken" and "Kou Ryuu Ken", respectively).

Taihainaru Odoriko Tulzscha

"taihai" is "corruption" or "decadence." Tulzscha, an Outer God who dances in the court of Azathoth, is called "The Green Flame" as its physical form is a pillar of sickly green flame which emits no heat.

Seikan Hikou Hastur

Hastur appears in a collection of short stories called The King in Yellow, a moniker which was later applied to it by August Derleth (who also established Hastur as a Great Old One). In at least one work, Hastur is associated with stars, such as Aldebaran.

Bakuen no Seiseirei

"bakuen" literally means "exploding flame", or "smoke of an explosion" if written using a different "en" kanji. The first "sei" means "star" or "planet", and "seirei" means "spirit" or "soul." I have no idea what Lovecraftian horror this phrase signifies, though.

Anshou wo Ou Watatsumi no Kage

This is probably a reference to the novella "Shadow Over Innsmouth", which depicts a small seaside town whose semi-human inhabitants are given to worship of Cthulhu and Dagon, two deities whose motifs are strongly tied to the ocean.

Kuroyamayou no Sabbat

"kuro" is "black", "kuroyama" is "large crowd" and "you" is "goat." This is almost certainly a reference to Shub-Niggurath, who is frequently titled "The Black Goat of the Woods with a Thousand Young." The "sabbat" allusion is most likely to the "Witches' Sabbath", alleged meetings of witches and Satanists which involved all manner of blasphemy and debauchery.

Hai?ru Yami no Keshin

The "hai" prefix means "to crawl", but I cannot make sense of the second kanji. "yami" is "darkness" and "keshin" means "incarnation", "embodiment", or "manifestation." The object of reference is undoubtedly Nyarlathotep, an Outer God who delights in spreading madness amongst humans and whose sobriquet is "The Crawling Chaos."

Ouinaru Chichi no Yobikoe

An obvious play on "The Call of Cthulhu", a short story written by H.P. Lovecraft and subject to countless references in every imaginable media outlet. I once took a photo of a home-built river raft called "The Raft of Cthulhu."

Destruction Chaos

Joukasuru Kagayaki (Purifying Brilliance)

qcf, hcb+AC

Notes

Moeagaru Shitto

"moeagaru" means "to burst into flames."

Yakitsukusu Gouka

A more literal translation would be "Hellfire which burns/reduces (things) to ashes."

Fukiareru Bouhyou

"fukiareru" means "to blow violently" or "rage" (as in "a raging storm"). "bouhyou" literally means "violent ice."

Kogashitsukusu Kairaku

"kogashitsukusu" means "to burn something until something is reduced to nothing."

qcfx2+K (in the air)

Destruction Chaos

Choushin Rengeki (Super Divine Combination Strike)

qcf, hcb+AC

Notes

Tenshou Raida Kyaku

This version of "shou" means "collide", "highway" or "important point." However, Chun-Li's "Tenshou Kyaku" (which uses a different kanji) loosely translates to "Kick which rises towards the sky", hence my translation.

Kagari

Command attacks

Suri Geri (Grind Kick)

Single-hit dive kick.

Destruction Chaos

Hi Ougi – Ura Rasen (Secret Esoteric Art – Reverse Helix)

qcf, hcb+AC

Stronger and more visually pleasing version of her Ougi - Rasen?

Notes

Mugen - Utsuroi

The "mu" used here means "fog", while "mugen" (different "mu") means "dreams and illusions." "utsurou" means "fade" or "shift", though the kanji used means "empty." I assume that this move is either a teleport or a "fake" version of the normal Mugen.

Manji Senkou Ha

A "manji" is a swastika, but also a symbol for swirls and spirals, which compliments Kagari's other move names.

Shuriken - Rakurai

"rakurai" means "to be struck by lightning."

Ultimate Chaos

Nanji Kuruwasu Imi Tsuki nari (Moon which Strikes Thee Mad with Grief)

qcfx2+P

I think this is his vertical half-circle slash, which looks similar to MotW Freeman's Overkill or Samurai Spirit/Shodown Basara's Kagemai - Yumebiki finisher.

Saka Manji Raikou Ha (Reverse Swirling Thunder Flash Break)

qcb, hcf+P

Energy wave which appears some distance away from Vein and then moves towards him. Useful as a combo extender, like Kagari's Ougi - Manji Senkou Ha.

Extra Ultimate Chaos

qcbx2+P

Togabito Metsusuru Ankoku nari (Darkness which Destroys the Guilty)

qcfx2+K

Destruction Chaos

Tsukiyo ni Kirameku Chou no gotoku nari (As the Butterfly Gleams on a Moonlit Night)

qcf, hcb+AC

Notes

...nari

Several of Vein’s move names end with the word "nari", which I find cumbersome to translate. It is an archaic phrase meaning "is" or "to be", and is most often used to lend a literary or dramatic flair to a character’s manner of speech.

Oni/Ten/Chi wo mo…

Near as I can tell, "wo mo" means "even", as in "Cut that may slay even a demon", "Light that may captivate Heaven itself" and "Purple flame that may scorch the very earth."

Kyouki ni Sogare Otsutsubomi nari

Igor's scar, this one is difficult.

kyou = ruin, misfortune

kyouki = madness

rakurai = be struck by lightning

RAI/tsubomi = bud

Yomi no Izanai ni Yudaneru nari

Another phrase which I cannot properly decipher.

"Yomi" = "realm of the dead" ("Hades")

"izanau" = "invite"/"lead to"

"yudaneru" = "entrust to"

"Have faith in being led to Hades"? "Resign thyself to thy journey to death’s realm"?

Saka Manji Raikou Ha

"raikou" (different "kou" kanji) means "god of thunder."
