www.keeponrock.in Report post Posted December 2, 2014 I've noticed that there are a lot of situations where Faust has opportunities for setplay-like situations, especially now with the item hold and the new items. For example, when you see you've tossed a weight, you can go for f.S>D, to force the opponent into blockstun while escaping the slidehead effect using D. Wirya Report post Posted December 3, 2014 I want to know if Faust's 6P is as strong as in #R. It was nerfed in Slash and I hated it, but in #R the move was pretty sick. Not just as an anti-air, but you could even trade hits with a grounded opponent and get a free combo afterward.
Diveman Report post Posted December 3, 2014 iirc stunedge said they nerfed most 6Ps but I've seen Gazou using it quite effectively regardless.
SoWL Report post Posted December 5, 2014 Tested the silly baseball gimmick in the lab, and it seems to be a bit more straightforward than I thought. Basically, there are two ways to hit an item: a regular hit and a clean hit. On regular hit, you just reposition the item on the screen, retaining all its properties. On clean hit, you blow the item straight off the screen so you can throw another one right away. Also, if the item has a hitbox, it knocks the opponent down AND blows them back on clean hit. Note that this does not concern the bomb or the poison vial, as they create hitboxes, but don't have one, themselves. So basically, it only concerns the hammer, the weight and the mini-Faust. tl;dr: 1. Time your 5D wrong, and you either miss or just reposition the item. 2. Time your 5D right, and you can skip the item. If it's a hammer, a weight or a mini-Faust, it knocks down and blows back on hit.
Corro Report post Posted December 7, 2014 if you rc during pogo stance you get a prc but you can yrc the first frame of any of the stance moves by plinking that said you can yrc pogo item throw super early and still get the item, yrc makes it way easier to not get punished for pissing about in pogo stance
Natsu Report post Posted December 7, 2014 Any phenomenal Faust players that I can learn from?
9:02 PM Report post Posted December 7, 2014 Nage and Gazou are arguably the best. Kiisha, Osaka B, and Nemo are also very strong.
Coffeeling Report post Posted December 7, 2014 Arguably?
Natsu Report post Posted December 8, 2014 Why do Hack n' Slash move has something written on the guard section like "Unblockble : 175000", what does the number mean?
Corro Report post Posted December 8, 2014 Why do Hack n' Slash move has something written on the guard section like "Unblockble : 175000", what does the number mean? metakiri isn't technically a command grab it's an unblockable that only comes out if the opponent is in a throwable state. the way it works is that on the first frame of startup it detects if the opponent is throwable and if it they are the move comes out otherwise it does the whiff animation. the result is that it can catch opponents in the air if they jump on the second startup frame of metakiri, i've also had millia roll behind me and still get hit by it looked pretty dumb. It also causes it to trade where a command grab would win clean and allows items to hit during it as for the 175000 i have no idea maybe it's a typo or something
SoWL Report post Posted December 8, 2014 175000 is probably the maximum range that Mettakiri can activate at, counted in whatever points the game uses to define distance.
Kintaro Report post Posted December 9, 2014 I've yet to test this on Xrd, but Mettagiri can actually activate on 1F blockstun. Watch this uhh, old old old video I made (reuploaded) at about 20 seconds you'll see what I mean. (GGXX Slash footage, but proven to work on all 2D GG games afterwards.) http://youtu.be/mqYYIzEEn6Q?t=20s
only breakfast Report post Posted December 11, 2014 So what kind of character is Faust? Space control, zoner, offensive? His playstyle to me seems gimmicky.
SoWL Report post Posted December 11, 2014 He's heavily spacing-oriented, as he can cover lots of space with his moves. Since there are no pure zoners in GG and the general system rewards aggressive play, he does have some strong mix-ups and pressure strings. His only weakness is weak defensive tools, but you're not supposed to let your opponent pressure you. His best defense is keeping his opponents away.
Natsu Report post Posted December 12, 2014 So is 2K 2P 2S 2HS 236S 5H a good combo? dunno if it's worth mastering... I think 2K 5HS 236S 5H is better

His only weakness is weak defensive tools, but you're not supposed to let your opponent pressure you. His best defense is keeping his opponents away. I see. When you say he has strong mix-ups are you referring specifically to the item throw? If not, what kind of mix-ups does he have? I ask because that's the only thing I've seen that Faust lacks in comparison to other characters. Then again, I'm pretty new into the game myself.

Natsu Report post Posted December 20, 2014 I've seen that Gazou tends to do 2P when the enemy is down. why dont he do 2K? I've seen him do 2K as well, just dont know on what he based he decision

Bowties Report post Posted December 21, 2014 So I've been playing Faust in +R and just recently purchased XRD I've been watching a lot of video of Japanese players and I have a few questions that faust mains can answer. What am I supposed to do In Neutral? Pressure and block strings? what are effective counter hit combos? Outside of the third question I found a pretty neat one on Zato and Slayer but it's still a work in progress.
