  2. Evolution 2015 Anime Evo Tournament Results and Videos

    10wljkn.jpg

This year was a huge year at Evolution 2015 for anime and airdasher games. Guilty Gear Xrd and Persona 4 Ulimax were present in the line up of main Evo games, Arc System Works hosted the US Arc Revolution Qualifier for both Guilty Gear Xrd 3v3 and Blazblue Chronophantasma Extend 3v3, and a huge community run event known as AnimEvo hosted a multitude of side tournaments ranging from large BBCPE and UNIEL tournaments that quickly capped at 128 players to other games like Arcana Heart 3 Love Max and Vampire Savior. Competition was fierce this year and all games had good showings which included international players from Japan. Overall the event was a huge success, so please send your thanks and support to the crew at AnimEvo.

There is now a General Revamp Brainstorming thread to carry any discussion about the totality of Dustloop and how to improve it. Please drop by and give us your thoughts on how to increase community involvement at Dustloop, encourage discussion, bring in new players, and whatever else you think needs fixing here.

  5. Forum Upgrade This Weekend (August 1-2)

    3.4 to 4.0

We currently run IPS 3.4, and 4.0 was released back in April.

Upgrade Will Be Longer Than Usual

This is a major change, so downtime will be much longer than usual, as I want to download a backup of the servers in case things go horribly wrong. There are no good estimates for how long this will take, but I expect at least a few hours (and possibly a whole day) will be needed.

I plan on starting this late Saturday night if I'm free by then. If not, then Sunday.

    Why Upgrade?

The key feature that interests us is front page should be more configurable. The forums should also see slight improvements as well.

    Why Didn't You Upgrade Sooner?

This is a major upgrade. Typically this means major parts of the software has been rewritten and as such, certain features may unexpectedly go missing. I was hesitant to upgrade due to this, but seeing as we're trying to make the Front Page actually useful now, and 4.0 promises more options to do so, I've finally decided to bite the bullet.

  13. Xrd Google Doc to Find Players/Matchups

    GGXrd_Logo.png

    About

Now you're wondering why I've brought you all here. The reason why I decided to create this google doc is basically for the sake of being able to find players for the matchups that you lack or wish to get more experience in. Another reason is to find and identify many of the people who play these characters to varying degrees that many people may not even know of. Since starting Guilty Gear (with Xrd) I had to play a lot of catch up and had a pretty difficult time finding certain matchups. Even OG's lack experience against some of the newer characters who can give trouble, but I noticed specifically harder for a lot to find Bedman, so hopefully an open google doc where people can input their own information will create a much quicker way to find what you're looking for. There was about 1,000 people at EVO this year for Xrd and I'm hoping at least 40 or 50% can find this doc and input info. So just keep sharing.

Also as I'm starting to notice. This is a great way to help identify people that are near your scene that you didn't even know existed. Very great way to start having people come to your casuals so hit em up.

  21. "Time to Make History" Dustloop Revamp Community Effort #1

    Hi Dustloop,

As promised, I've created a thread for the resurrection of Dustloop. After receiving feedback, we've realized that one of the biggest issues is...

    The Front Page

This includes the lack of articles, informational content, and promotion of community efforts.

How would you change this? Please leave any suggestions for improving this issue as a response to this post. Currently, one of the greatest issues for generating content is a lack of motivation. If anybody would like to help contribute to the front page, please speak up.

Once again, please continue to leave any other feedback regarding issues or potential changes to Dustloop.

    https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1zdYq0ruR9CGwhzGcMG-tDZPca3oU75y5AnbkvrkD0ps/viewform

And if you want to reply to this topic, use the thread in the Site Feedback section http://www.dustloop.com/forums/index.php/topic/11071-time-to-make-history-dustloop-revamp-community-effort-1/?view=getnewpost

    Thanks!

    • Some complained that Ragna 'suddenly become strong' in CF as he kicks everyone's ass there but for fans he was mostly known as 'underdog' before CF. Is it just because of him being talked down a lot despite his feared reputation or his 'many losses'? This is his battle breakdown, story mode canon ones: NOTE: 'Base' Ragna = Ragna without active Grimoire (usual non Unlimited Ragna, not the crippled one) Before CP True Ending (more details on Quote below) TLDR/Conclusion for pre-CP True Ending: All of his struggles are against an enemy that has equally or even more fearsome reputation such as (mentioning from CT to CP ones): Rachel (Daughter of famed Clavis and dubbed the Onlooker of the world) Hakumen (Leader of legendary Six Heroes who slayed Black Beast) Hazama (Which houses Terumi) Kagura (Head of Mutsuki, most powerful Duodecim in NOL, also ranked General) Azrael (Have many, nicknames that each one sounds as dangerous as "Grim Reaper") etc. Then, most of his struggles/loses are also when Ragna is handicapped And in conclusion for Ragna, base Ragna is actually stronger than you think. The only ones matching him/stronger back in CT was Rachel, 20% Hakumen (Ragna's stronger with Grimoire active), and Nu. And since CP he's not below 20+% Hakumen, contrary to popular belief. He's already matching him without active Grimoire and the other losses of his was only because Celica crippling him. Post-CP True Ending and CF (more details on Quote below) TLDR/Conclusion for post-CP True Ending and CF: CF Ragna isn't Ragna suddenly becoming powerful for no reason. Ragna is just being the same Ragna in CP True Ending before (In which Ragna improved himself with skill). Also, Ragna isn't winning because of Doomsday effect, because Ragna is already stronger than most Qualifieds (such as Litchi, Makoto, Bullet, etc.) since even first game and Ragna without active Grimoire have become on par with the Qualified powerhouses like Kagura or 20+% Hakumen since CP True Ending.
    • You did say above that "some returning characters won't be playable like Jin because he can't fight anymore." But I'm just pointing out there that we lost more CF casts than you think. I mean that yeah BB5 can happen, but how about the loyal fans of the series who only play for fighthing part (which I think 80% of BB playerbase)? They'd probably be mad for the loss of the casts, due to "BS story reasons". Mori originally wanted Nu and Lambda to stay dead, but due to fighting game demands (complete playable cast), Mori revives them and brought them back and Mori doesn't want characters to be playable for the sake of being playable.
    • If you come across any more of Jajamaru's Jam, could you let me know? I don't know where he usually plays at and how often. He's one of the Jams I like to watch, along with LOX, Bashou, and Teresa.
