This year was a huge year at Evolution 2015 for anime and airdasher games. Guilty Gear Xrd and Persona 4 Ulimax were present in the line up of main Evo games, Arc System Works hosted the US Arc Revolution Qualifier for both Guilty Gear Xrd 3v3 and Blazblue Chronophantasma Extend 3v3, and a huge community run event known as AnimEvo hosted a multitude of side tournaments ranging from large BBCPE and UNIEL tournaments that quickly capped at 128 players to other games like Arcana Heart 3 Love Max and Vampire Savior. Competition was fierce this year and all games had good showings which included international players from Japan. Overall the event was a huge success, so please send your thanks and support to the crew at AnimEvo.
A lot of players use Facebook nowadays and players have made Facebook Groups as a convenient way to communicate between local players. Looking for a group near you? @Cool_Camyoin made an openly editable Google Sheet to help players find each other!
The community responses to our outreach have been overwhelming. So overwhelming in fact that we need a new thread just for them.
There is now a General Revamp Brainstorming thread to carry any discussion about the totality of Dustloop and how to improve it. Please drop by and give us your thoughts on how to increase community involvement at Dustloop, encourage discussion, bring in new players, and whatever else you think needs fixing here.
We currently run IPS 3.4, and 4.0 was released back in April.
Upgrade Will Be Longer Than Usual
This is a major change, so downtime will be much longer than usual, as I want to download a backup of the servers in case things go horribly wrong. There are no good estimates for how long this will take, but I expect at least a few hours (and possibly a whole day) will be needed.
I plan on starting this late Saturday night if I'm free by then. If not, then Sunday.
The key feature that interests us is front page should be more configurable. The forums should also see slight improvements as well.
Why Didn't You Upgrade Sooner?
This is a major upgrade. Typically this means major parts of the software has been rewritten and as such, certain features may unexpectedly go missing. I was hesitant to upgrade due to this, but seeing as we're trying to make the Front Page actually useful now, and 4.0 promises more options to do so, I've finally decided to bite the bullet.
Similar to the one created by ChosenNinja for Guilty Gear, a Blazblue Player Database is now available to help find players for matchup training. If you would like to add your player info, please fill out the form here The full list of players can be found here
Now you're wondering why I've brought you all here. The reason why I decided to create this google doc is basically for the sake of being able to find players for the matchups that you lack or wish to get more experience in. Another reason is to find and identify many of the people who play these characters to varying degrees that many people may not even know of. Since starting Guilty Gear (with Xrd) I had to play a lot of catch up and had a pretty difficult time finding certain matchups. Even OG's lack experience against some of the newer characters who can give trouble, but I noticed specifically harder for a lot to find Bedman, so hopefully an open google doc where people can input their own information will create a much quicker way to find what you're looking for. There was about 1,000 people at EVO this year for Xrd and I'm hoping at least 40 or 50% can find this doc and input info. So just keep sharing.
Also as I'm starting to notice. This is a great way to help identify people that are near your scene that you didn't even know existed. Very great way to start having people come to your casuals so hit em up.
A game corner anticipated to have a playable version of BBCF and Xrd Revelator at ARC REVO CUP 2015 has been canceled. It may or may not have had an updated version of BBCF after the first loketest, but either way it would have given the opportunity to learn more about the game.
Arc System Works and Aksys Games teamed up to hold the official qualifiers for ARC REVOLUTION CUP 2015, an annual Japanese tournament, at EVO 2015.
A 3 v 3 qualifier tournament, sporting a $5000 prize pool split between the top 3 teams, as well as the grand prize of an all expense paid trip to Japan to compete at ARC REVOLUTION CUP 2015 with the world's best, for both BlazBlue Chrono Phantasma: Extend and Guilty Gear Xrd.
Just who were those winners? What teams will go to Japan?
As promised, I've created a thread for the resurrection of Dustloop. After receiving feedback, we've realized that one of the biggest issues is...
The Front Page
This includes the lack of articles, informational content, and promotion of community efforts.
How would you change this? Please leave any suggestions for improving this issue as a response to this post. Currently, one of the greatest issues for generating content is a lack of motivation. If anybody would like to help contribute to the front page, please speak up.
Once again, please continue to leave any other feedback regarding issues or potential changes to Dustloop.
Under Night In-birth: EXE Late [st] ( UNIEL [st] ) has been given an arcade release date of July 23rd 2015 by Arc System Works, complete with new introductory trailer and opening theme to accompany the arrival news.
This past weekend, Mr. Biscuits from TSB/TEC, in conjunction with Mikado's Satou (Satu) held an open Japanese lobby to tease some of the competition coming from Japan to EVO, and how there training has come so far. These are some great sets, so check them out after the break!
Let's take a moment to talk about One Frame Jumps.
The fact is, what most of us understand One Frame Jumps to be simply isn't the case. Actually, a lot of what we know about the first few frames of jumping is wrong! Here I'll attempt to demonstrate how jumping really works, and how it impacts the game.
Well, I think Aksys shouldn't have passively agreed with others who let their decision slide just to justify not doing an English dub. And if they were really responsive, I think they would've given a final yes or no answer to the petition instead of saying they needed a "push", then falling silent on the matter completely.
If ArcSys wants to get recognized overseas, then at least with BlazBlue they should've continued with the dub to make it more accessible to the western audience. Maybe they'll do the right thing if Central Fiction gets a Nintendo Switch port.
May I request Eltnum, in her official art, (The one that takes place in character select) in the Color palette 10# ("Living Dead") from Under night in-birth: EXE Late? I'll put in a reference photo, as well.
So, I'm a painter and for the longest time, I've been told I have talent, but I've never felt good enough to...you know, actually sell stuff. '-'
*ahem* Well, this year, I really started working harder on my art, and thought I'd try to sell at CEOtaku's artist alley, since I love a good Fighting game Tourney as much as art!
I just started putting together some stuff I'd want to sell, and doing the math on production costs, etc, but I'm a novice as far as all of this is concerned, and there's barely any external coverage on "fighting game artist alleys" that I can find... I've talked with a certain plushie maker online about her experience, but that was some time ago, and she's a vendor, so she only sees one side of things.
I'm just curious - has anyone here been to CEOtaku in the past, or events like it, with artists selling there? How was it? How many vendors were there, and how much did they have with them? Anything/one catch your eye while you were looking around?
I never got the chance to go there personally, and like I said, it'd be my first try at one of these, so I'd love to hear about your experience there, or elsewhere!
Thanks for reading!
