This year was a huge year at Evolution 2015 for anime and airdasher games. Guilty Gear Xrd and Persona 4 Ulimax were present in the line up of main Evo games, Arc System Works hosted the US Arc Revolution Qualifier for both Guilty Gear Xrd 3v3 and Blazblue Chronophantasma Extend 3v3, and a huge community run event known as AnimEvo hosted a multitude of side tournaments ranging from large BBCPE and UNIEL tournaments that quickly capped at 128 players to other games like Arcana Heart 3 Love Max and Vampire Savior. Competition was fierce this year and all games had good showings which included international players from Japan. Overall the event was a huge success, so please send your thanks and support to the crew at AnimEvo.

  3. A lot of players use Facebook nowadays and players have made Facebook Groups as a convenient way to communicate between local players. Looking for a group near you? @Cool_Camyoin made an openly editable Google Sheet to help players find each other!

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1IL522ObSNiMLaD7CLonHZ7OBmMvZcUnOaTgX9GdLw8U/edit?pli=1

There's tabs for both USA and International Groups at the bottom, please add your local Group if you don't see it in there!

  4. The community responses to our outreach have been overwhelming. So overwhelming in fact that we need a new thread just for them.

There is now a General Revamp Brainstorming thread to carry any discussion about the totality of Dustloop and how to improve it. Please drop by and give us your thoughts on how to increase community involvement at Dustloop, encourage discussion, bring in new players, and whatever else you think needs fixing here.

  5. 3.4 to 4.0

We currently run IPS 3.4, and 4.0 was released back in April.

Upgrade Will Be Longer Than Usual

This is a major change, so downtime will be much longer than usual, as I want to download a backup of the servers in case things go horribly wrong. There are no good estimates for how long this will take, but I expect at least a few hours (and possibly a whole day) will be needed.

I plan on starting this late Saturday night if I'm free by then. If not, then Sunday.

    Why Upgrade?

The key feature that interests us is front page should be more configurable. The forums should also see slight improvements as well.

    Why Didn't You Upgrade Sooner?

This is a major upgrade. Typically this means major parts of the software has been rewritten and as such, certain features may unexpectedly go missing. I was hesitant to upgrade due to this, but seeing as we're trying to make the Front Page actually useful now, and 4.0 promises more options to do so, I've finally decided to bite the bullet.

    About

Now you're wondering why I've brought you all here. The reason why I decided to create this google doc is basically for the sake of being able to find players for the matchups that you lack or wish to get more experience in. Another reason is to find and identify many of the people who play these characters to varying degrees that many people may not even know of. Since starting Guilty Gear (with Xrd) I had to play a lot of catch up and had a pretty difficult time finding certain matchups. Even OG's lack experience against some of the newer characters who can give trouble, but I noticed specifically harder for a lot to find Bedman, so hopefully an open google doc where people can input their own information will create a much quicker way to find what you're looking for. There was about 1,000 people at EVO this year for Xrd and I'm hoping at least 40 or 50% can find this doc and input info. So just keep sharing.

Also as I'm starting to notice. This is a great way to help identify people that are near your scene that you didn't even know existed. Very great way to start having people come to your casuals so hit em up.

A game corner anticipated to have a playable version of BBCF and Xrd Revelator at ARC REVO CUP 2015 has been canceled. It may or may not have had an updated version of BBCF after the first loketest, but either way it would have given the opportunity to learn more about the game.

Arc System Works and Aksys Games teamed up to hold the official qualifiers for ARC REVOLUTION CUP 2015, an annual Japanese tournament, at EVO 2015.

A 3 v 3 qualifier tournament, sporting a $5000 prize pool split between the top 3 teams, as well as the grand prize of an all expense paid trip to Japan to compete at ARC REVOLUTION CUP 2015 with the world's best, for both BlazBlue Chrono Phantasma: Extend and Guilty Gear Xrd.

Just who were those winners? What teams will go to Japan?

  21. Hi Dustloop,

As promised, I've created a thread for the resurrection of Dustloop. After receiving feedback, we've realized that one of the biggest issues is...

    The Front Page

This includes the lack of articles, informational content, and promotion of community efforts.

How would you change this? Please leave any suggestions for improving this issue as a response to this post. Currently, one of the greatest issues for generating content is a lack of motivation. If anybody would like to help contribute to the front page, please speak up.

Once again, please continue to leave any other feedback regarding issues or potential changes to Dustloop.

And if you want to reply to this topic, use the thread in the Site Feedback section http://www.dustloop.com/forums/index.php/topic/11071-time-to-make-history-dustloop-revamp-community-effort-1/?view=getnewpost

    Thanks!

The details are starting to leak out.

There's three new characters: Nine, Naoto, and Hibiki.

    Nine, the strongest mage.

Hibiki, Kagura's assistant and a Jin-class soldier in his own right that specializes in assassination.

Naoto, a rushdown character that uses his own blood to guard crush.

Plus a lot of changes for every other character.

    • I don't know if this is common knowledge, or if this is shared somewhere else, but I found that you can bring out Hazama's super command grab really easily thanks to the games input leniency.  Doing 61234D and then quickly inputting 6D will cause him to do the super.
    • Also, does anyone know when, or if, we will be getting a updated tier list once the patch comes out?
    • Personally as a Noel main, I'm excited that she is getting some buffs finally. Bottom tier no more? The changes to her the invul on her 4D will mean she has a true defensive tool at her disposal. 214A proration buffs sound really nice, but is it for both her P1 and P2, and by how much? Fingers crossed for a decent buff to its P2 so my CH 5C, 6C, 4D and Fatal 5D meterless punish combos do a bit over 4k now. My playstyle is a little too heavy focused on baiting and heavy punishing, so the general 1.3k damage nerf on my CH 5C combo hurt quite a bit.
    • Probably late to the party, but: Wagner mechanic notes: 22+X__________ 22+A will enhance your sword, granting a small damage buff to 66+B/C, 236+A/B (ground or air) and its follow-up. The important note here is that you also gain the ability to attack (cannot block, Assault, or Shield) immediately after doing an enhanced 236+A/B (ground or air) follow-up, where the normal version prevents you from doing anything until you land; this will open up new combo opportunities. 22+B enhances your shield which will give 214+A/B and B+C start-up super armor, which can take multiple hits but will lose to attacks still active during their own active/later frames (when super armor is lost). 214+A/B also gains projectile invulnerability (note: B+C by default nullifies projectiles, you can even Special/EX cancel after nullifying a projectile!) and 214+B is even made safe on block. 22+C will enhance both your sword and shield at the same time and even has an added hitbox (note: NOT invulnerable) and also has an interesting quirk; if you already have either your sword or shield enhanced before activating you will get both buffed, but if both are already enhanced before doing this move you will actually LOSE both and waste meter for nothing. Also the buff from 22+X has no time based duration, the only way to lose it is to either use the enhanced special associated with it (A = ground or air 236+A/B > X. B = B+C or 214+A/B) or if you get hit. Another interesting note, if you have both buffs on at the same time, when you are hit, you will only lose 1, with the 2nd buff going first, UNLESS you gained both buffs from 22+C, then you will always lose shield buff first (note: you can circumvent this by reapplying the A buff after the C buff, but really, if you have time to do that . . .)
    • https://twitter.com/A_crimefighter/status/888129344236695553 New midscreen safejump using 236[/B] works off an A starter. It's maybe a bit easier if you whiff cancel into 5A/2A after the 623B but you don't need to. Notation if you can't read the inputs: 2A>2B>2C>236A>236[/B]>623A>623B>2C>jump cancel towards>j.6D>j.B You can substitute j.B for j.2C or any other air normal if you want. You also need to delay the j.6D a bit, I don't have any tips for that tho
