    Kentucky Stomping Grounds Mk. IV

Hey guys, I've decided it was time for me to get back into the fighting game scene (as if I was really there to begin with), and I wanted to know what the peeps in the Lexington area were playing. I'm looking to get back into some Guilty Gear and Blazblue, and possibly some P4A down the road. Is GG still popular in these parts?

    [CT] Iron Tager vs. Bang

Ah, my apologies, no invincibility, just autoguard. Of course, that's good news, because that gives them a season pass to Grab City.

    [CT] Iron Tager vs. Bang

I was playing a Bang for a while earlier today. He wasn't great, but he did apply pretty good pressure. I found the best way to ever get any hits in was to throw throw throw. I'm fairly certain his drive attacks have a moment of invincibility, so don't get too hasty if you see him pause for a moment; you'll probably eat a drive attack. The Bang I fought really liked Bang Install. I really liked it when he activated it and immediately dashed into my open hand for a 720. I'm sure that put a damper on his day.

Yeah, I'm trying to avoid all the conditional combos, such as they must be crouching, it has to be a counter hit, it only works on certain characters, or requires 50% of my heat gauge without a super. Maybe I'm asking too much; maybe there are no more general combos. I just want to make sure.

Ah ha ha, you are correct sir! (RIP Ed McMahon) I was simply doing them too late. While I'm at it, are there any good combo openers besides throwing and 360s that don't depend on counter hits? I've noticed that sledge(B) -> 6A works pretty well, but I think they have time to wiggle out of before the 6A if it's not a counter hit. I remember seeing in the combo list that A->B->shot works, but of course, you don't always have a full charge bar. I realize that sounds like a whiny question ("Hay guyz, how do I do superfast combos with Tager?"), but I just want to make sure I'm not missing out on anything.

Well, I've noticed that a collider after a throw doesn't work on every character (Taokaka comes to mind) because they don't seem to bounce high enough, though maybe I'm thinking of forward throws and backward throws work, I can't remember. I've tried backthrow -> 236B a number of times, and I can never get it to connect because the dummy always recovers right before it hits. Is my timing just bad?

Is there anything combo-able out of a backwards throw? I find that sometimes I accidentally throw opponents backwards because I'm still in blocking mode when I grab them. I can't seem to combo anything out of it, and that just makes it feel like a wasted opportunity. Maybe it's something really obvious, and if it's been pointed out in this thread already, I apologize (though I don't recall seeing it).

Something else I was wondering....should Tagar make liberal use of counter assaults (forward+A+B while blocking), or is it better to just learn to rely on instant block? Easier said than done, of course.

This may be totally useless, but I've found that you can combo a normal throw into a Magna-Tech Wheel. I haven't thoroughly tested it, just something I noticed in training mode. Er....hope that helps?

Let me take a shot at this.
  11. All right, this request has been posted at least 3 times by different people and largely ignored every time. Does there exist a costume sprite sheet for Accent Core? I remember someone made one for Slash and it was fantastic. It seems like this would have to exist somewhere.

    TenKaiGear.com - TN/KY match vids and more

Sweet, vids are up! I haven't had a look at any yet, but I'm sure mine is among the worst. That "shitty Sol in default colors" everyone is talking about was probably me. I remember I accidentally picked default colors for that match. I'll just admit - I suck. I've been playing for about a year and a half, and not very seriously at that. I was just glad I managed to win one round out of that match. I've been trying to move on to someone else.....namely, Robo-Ky. At least when I play shitty, I can blame it on his awesome low-tierness. EDIT: I take that back. I watched the video. I used my preferred Sol color, not the default. But I still play shitty anyway.
  13. I have a very noob question about blocking low. Is the low block range smaller than in other fighting games? For instance, I find it easier to block low in Capcom fighting games than in GG games. Think of it like a clock, and let's say you're facing the right. In Street Fighter games, low blocking seems to occur between 6 and 9 o'clock, exlcusive. However, in Guilty Gear, it seems a bit more strict, like it is between 7 and 8 o'clock (inclusive, I guess). I use the PS2 controller analog stick, so I know my thumb isn't straight on the stick, and I think that GG only has 8 directions, but still. I have no problem blocking a low kick from Ryu, but a hair wagon from Millia gets me almost every time. Has anyone else had this problem, or do I just suck really, really bad?
  14. Leopaldon is the guy I'm thinking of. Where the hell did this guy come from?
  15. For fear of a Bridget cosplay, we will hurriedly move to the next question. WTF is up with that huge fish-guy from Isuka? Er, good point. I always forget about the lag. I just need to find real people to play against.
