  1. How is America even relevant here?
  2. Considering the usual Arcsys model of preorder character + post-release DLC character, I wouldn't give up hope just yet.
  3. What's wrong with these? http://www.dustloop.com/wiki/index.php?title=GGXRD/Zato-1/Combos And of course, there is always the character subforum:
  4. You are correct, it's not modern Japanese: it's the so-called "Kanbun", which is basically ancient Japanese writing. The most well-known Kanbun text is Kojiki, the Japanese mythological text, and since BlazBlue already takes a lot of its inspiration from there, I figured I might as well try googling it... And I did find both the original text and its translation into English. It's basically a description of Izanami. Having thus spoken, she went back inside the palace; and as she tarried there very long, he could not wait. So having taken and broken off one of the end-teeth of the multitudinous and close-toothed comb stuck in the august left bunch [of his hair], he lit one light and went in and looked. Maggots were swarming. and [she was] rotting, and in her head dwelt the Great-Thunder, in her breast dwelt the Fire-Thunder, in her left hand dwelt the Young-Thunder, in her right hand dwelt the Earth-Thunder, in her left foot dwelt the Rumbling-Thunder, in her right foot dwelt the Couchant-Thunder:—altogether eight Thunder-Deities had been born and dwelt there.
  5. Remember that the old versions of GG allowed you to switch between Ishiwatari Sol and Nakata Sol. I don't see why they wouldn't be able to do the same with announcer packs.
  6. I realize that people can hide signatures, but I don't want to turn them off because of just a few users. I also believe (correct me if I'm wrong) that with disabling images in signatures altogether, people won't be able to use the character balls and other smilies, which is a large reason behind their existence in the first place, so I assume people won't be happy about that. Setting some kind of image size limit would be ideal, but I'm not sure if the forum software allows that. Hence my question: if software can't enforce it, we can just put it in the rules and let the mods handle it. This is the most obvious example, but there are a few others that shouldn't be too difficult to find. People are actually pretty reasonable about not turning their signatures into a bloody mess, though some of them get out of hand even with just the "Legal" character balls and quotes. Which is a whole different can of worms to open.
  7. Some things I'd like to clear up before I forget: - Are we ever going to get the awards back? Considering the whole "Encourage people to contribute to the website" aspect everyone has been discussing last Summer, it wouldn't make sense to remove the greatest motivation for that. - What is the reason behind the website becoming unavailable from time to time? Is there a way to fix it? It might be just me, but it feels like it's one of the greatest reasons the activity went down lately. - What is the official stance on using pictures in signatures? I've seen some people using the sig to display off-site pictures, and although I think it's a bit too much, the rules (or rather, the guidelines) don't say anything against that.
  8. Off the top of my head, Plat and Tao got low 2A. Naoto still looks like a cool character to me, and I assume that he's considered bad because the others are better, not because he got lots of faults or whatever.
  9. You can put it that way if you want. Really, BB has so many characters at this point, it's hard to describe the differences between the similar ones in just a few words, especially if their gameplan is simple. There is only so much you can do with the "Get in and smash face" playstyle. Bullet may seem like she's a Makoto clone from the outside, but there are enough minute differences that the two attract different players.
  10. Damage and corner carry. Loads of it. With no heat required. If you get a few good reads, she can end the round very quickly. It's just that because her damage is so high, they have to balance it by making it more difficult to land hits, and she needs those stray hits to heat up and get to the damaging combo routes. Outside of that, she's your regular rushdown character with short, safe normals that can sit in your face for hours, waiting for you to do something silly. That is, as long as you let her get close. Also, I find it funny that reigning over one tier list wasn't enough for Zato, so he decided to let his puppeteer buddy have his own throne on top of a nearby fuckmountain. EDIT: Seems like we're getting an arcade update today, mostly concerning Izanami, Nine and Amane. http://www.blazblue.jp/cf/ac/info.html
  11. Left = has weaknesses Right = well-rounded
  12. It seems like Raven's Gertreuer has some additional properties when his gauge is full, but the lens flare obscures some of it. I assume it's just an automatic power-up when his pain gauge is full, similar to Robo-Ky's DP?
  13. In case someone thinks that Raven is not manly enough with his current design, don't forget that he's voiced by the same voice actor as Azrael. I think he's just fine.
  14. Too bad that we're not getting the GGX version, if the Sign OST is anything to go by.
  15. Speaking of Dizzy's design, don't forget that we have the pachinko designs to compare it to. It doesn't seem to be too similar, but she seems to still have that weird wing clothing. Doesn't sound too practical with Necro and Undine constantly transforming back and forth.
  16. Naturally, we'll never know for sure, but I personally feel that Raven winning the poll would simply mean that they would choose the last Revelator character on their own. Or take the one that took second place, which can still be seen as them picking the character on their own. Or they just didn't have any faith in Raven to begin with, since he was only playable in Overture, which little to no one cares about, and veteran players are more likely to care about the characters that were taken out in Xrd.
  17. It's written on the right page where all the gameplay mechanics are described, so I assume the latter. He also seems to have a special gauge that fills up when he's hit.
  18. Looking forward to Dizzy's royal clothes and new move animations. That's probably the hypest aspect of her coming back. Also, Raven is described as the "Greatest masochist", getting stronger as he takes damage.
  19. Note that it can be just an unblockable attack, too.
  20. The console build will be playable on an event that will be held in Japan on the 27th: http://www.arcsystemworks.jp/portal/post-395/ We might get some more info on Kum, maybe other newcomers.
  21. It would have been even worse to include every single playable character (even Fanny), but not Raven. Might as well confirm him to be in right away.
  22. Just to double-check, there is no option to preview one's post, right? If so, why?
  23. Leo feels like a proper rekka character even if it's linear, too, if only because he has some good mix-ups after each hit. Also, that Kum description makes him feel like Onimaru from Yomi. Screw combos, single hit mix-ups all the way.
  24. Do I spy a ME!ME!ME! reference palette? I almost expected her AH to be a grab because its input is apparently 720D, but comboing into it is fine, too.
