  1. Here's to hoping that Testament being the gatekeeper will be added in next installment, or at worst the one after that.
  2. Dude, you're embarassing yourself. Go and have fun anyway you want, but don't expect sympathy for not being able to win against CPU. a) if you're being punished consistently, stop doing unsafe moves. b) if you don't know what moves are safe, play training mode c) If you want to do neither but still enjoy arcade mode cutscenes, ask someone who's playing better if you can lean over his shoulder and watch as he plays
  3. I wouldn't be so sure. Whatever my opinion on HOS may be, he's a very different character from Sol. Sure they might be able to reuse some assets, but with a whole movelist being different there's not that much to work with. Also, seeing how they basically only have the same head I'm pretty sure ASW would have to create HOS model from the scratch.
  4. Let me answer like this. I don't have a problem with HOS. I would have a problem with getting second Sol while we still don't even have the full cast from The Missing Link in Xrd.
  5. That's the point... While gameplay variety is the most important, I don't think we can shove visual variety aside. Besides, HOS, while unique, is still a "get in and rape" type of character, we have enough of those for now.
  6. While I don't have any hopes of seeing Testament win, I do hope HOS doesn't make it. Sure the design is good and his gameplay style is much different from Sol, but it's still a revamped old character when we have so many individuals that are missing from the roster.
  7. Who cares about story? Granted ASW made a name for themselves for having an almost coherent story in their games, but... Who cares about story? :D I'm sincerely amazed at the character choices here. Just the fact that they included characters from side games is very cool, though I'd much rather have a list composed of GG1 only characters, since four of them are still missing from the cast. Of course that would mean higher chances for Kliff to get in, so maybe big list is for the best after all.
  8. I sure hope these colours won't be used during the tournaments. Golds look cool, especially with the aura effect, but with blacks you can barely distinguish any features besides the silhouette in some cases. Just imagine a match with black Bedman...
  9. Let go of ggpo, seriously. Implementing a new netcode that works fundamentally different than the already existing one, while possible, would take up so much effort, money and time that it wouldn't be worth it one bit. Revelator is just and update to existing code. ASW will not waste time to rewrite the console version.
  10. huh? Again, true in general, but as we all know there are exceptions to the rule. While I agree for the most part I must say that with enough determination one can still level up by oneself. It's easy to say "I can't get any better, my opponents suck!", but that's just taking the easy (uh... normal?) way out. Alternative would be a long, tedious and, by my standards, very boring process. Sitting around with youtube/notebook/training and painstakingly preparing yourself for every possible situation in every possible matchup can and will be hard. Ultimately however, it's possible and it happened before.
  11. Hey now, we all know that one of those days the mashing will prove successful. On a note of "playing the game" vs. "being good at the game". I think there's a certain spot a player will hit if he's determined enough to really level up. It's the point where you spend time in training mode NOT pressing buttons, but with a notebook on your lap and drawing some algorithm that's grossly overestimating what your opponent can do* just so you have all your/his options mapped. What I'm saying is one can play the game for ten years and be decent, easily enough to wreck intermediate players, but being actually good requires more than just vs exp. *I like pen&paper tech, your experiences may vary. Ninja edit - I don't think that's set in stone. Ofc results are what counts the most.
  12. They teach you everything in theory. Then you start a vs match and it's all down the gutter. I mean seriously, I know people who've been playing for months, are very capable as far as combos and offense goes, but still press buttons on wakeup even if my Deja Vu covers the whole of their character like a big block of hitbox that it is. You can learn the system and the mechanics, you can even know your character inside out, but the tutorial would have to be on a completely different level and scope to actually teach how to play versus.
  13. Too many hidden inputs. Sure there's a lot of fun and enjoyment in being able to see "everything" that a skilled player does, but in smash there's just too much going on outside of the screen. That, and the fact that the matches just go on forever.
  14. Only thing better than that would be if he announced that as of the time of announcement the patch is released :D
  15. They wouldn't put in more characters without additional balance changes. I'd love to see an update with new characters two years from now, but they shouldn't set that as the new priority. (Yes, I know that save for war or conflagration there's no way they won't update the game within a year, but hey I can dream) Besides we already have a sizeable, varied roster. There's more than enough characters to pick someone new.
