[Xrd] Elphelt Gameplay Discussion "The True Best Girl"

FYI, this link doesn't work anymore.
  2. For starting off, should I be ending air combos in j.236P > 236H > toss? Or would it be too far to go into 236H unless I'm in the corner?

Thanks for posting these! The Terumi in that first set has really taken on his character. Ran the timer for fun against Kokonoe and that very first round vs Jin made my day.

Can you trigger lv3 22C by tapping at the right points, or do you have just mash it?

[CP] Valkenhayn Video Thread (Updated 3/21/14)

Appreciate the input! The rasen cancel's not quite after the hit, right? It's right at the end of the movement (that's how I think of it). Measuring that animation feels like my biggest issue. I'll try the 1D side-switch. What I do now is 2C > 236C or w[j.236B > j.6D > j.B > j.B/j.A depending on height]. For that IAD loop, is it character dependent? I haven't incorporated IAD.BC > 5B because of its character quirks.

Hey Kiba, I see in your movie that you're using the wj.1D combos. How consistent do you find that to be? I'm learning that and moving away from my wj.A starter path of "... > w[6D > j.A > 5B > iad.B > j.3D > j.A > ...]" but I'm having trouble with the getting the w[j.1D > j.5D] just right, and for N starters, I'm not happy with my consistency on my wj.5D > 2C or the follow-up dash 5C/iad.

thanks for separating these. both these players are really on point! crazy lvl1 OD combo from the hazama and the movement by the valk in and out of combos provides a lot to learn. on a few occasions, the valk does w[5C > 6D > 4C] to brake when 5C gets blocked. is he actually reacting to the w.5C and confirming to start the combo?
  8. Tested against Noel. Coming out of the corner, I'm usually mixing up w/w[6D > j.A > 5BC > ...] and 236C misses (haven't missed this on anyone else on the on the list). Omitting one of those hits will make the 236C connect. HOWEVER, 236C hits meaty so 9D can't be buffered early or else 236C misses. Just what I've found, maybe my timing's odd.
  9. The OP says w[6D > j.A > 5D] > 5B > 2C > 236C works on Noel but it missed on a few tries in sets yesterday. Is her timing different? I've only seen it not work on Amane, played some sets against Azrael yesterday and I'm pretty sure it worked without a hitch. You can delay 5B just right to work on Amane but it feels really tight and sucks when you're trying to push him into the corner and you end up there instead.
  10. Oh wow, I actually read that character specifics section daily but have been glancing past that box because I hadn't understood its use in month 1 until I saw it in a match video. It's use isn't labeled there either so the way I read it in week 1, I thought it was some advanced human 5C > j.A loop.
  11. w[5C > 6D > j.A > 5D] > 5B > 2C > 236C misses on Nu. If anyone has tested this on the cast, I've love to know because the utility of this combo has been great. w[5C > 6D > j.A > 5D] > 5B > 236A missing (usually) on Amane.
  12. CH w[5C > 6D > j.C] was missing on Makoto. Anyone else? Tried on friend's laggy TV so may be me.
  13. Not sure I'll ever be comfortable going for w[5D] > 2C > 6B in a combo but these seem like better places to start than the midscreen variations. I'm finding that 236A restores much of the damage I thought I was losing (minimal CSE exposure so I'd forgotten of it) tho so that helps! For w[5C > 236A] in the corner, I need to hit the 5C as early as possible, right? While I'm at it, I've found that 2C > 6B is very inconsistent vs Amane in the corner. Is it confirmed that he or a set of characters is more likely to fall out?
  14. Coming off what I did in CS2, I assumed it may still be better to finish extra high to have that second j.C ready threatening + land as they're teching but I'll reevaluate. Is it worse now? I've also been avoiding 6C > 3C because it seemed to sacrifice too much damage but I've started working it in as a low wolf meter option. Will put some focus into hitting that 3C consistently. Thanks for the input!
  15. I've been sticking to easier combos while relearning Valk from CS, and I'm at the point where I'd like to improve my corner enders for a more optimal mix of oki and damage. Currently, I tend to finish w/the following depending on starter/meter (much thanks to this thread): ... > w[236B > j.236A > j.236B > j.214A] ... > 5B~2C > jc.B > dj.BC ... > w[j.AAAC > dj.D] > j.C Can I get some suggestions for improving on these? Is the following ender I saw in a Hima video considered a best practice? ... > w[j.AC~j.236B > j.3D > j.C > dj.D] > j.C
