Nvm...it seems like it only gets held up to 2C's length like in the previous game. And 5D is only guardpoint for a small amount of time instead of its whole duration. Well that's lame . On the plus side, sonic punch blockstrings are good pressure.

Oh snap you're right lmfao. Just checked his loketest notes and forgot that his 5D has guardpoint and 5C can be done from it. Also, 5C can be held! and 5B is dash-cancellable! And 5AAA is a blockstring without autocombo animation! If 5C can be held long enough, that means we might be able to hold it before going into a blockstring, then release it in the middle of a blockstring. Where's Moke to capitalize on this?!

Watching Akihiko's new stuff...I'm really confused. His pressure game got better, but, at the cost of a nerfed neutral game that ALSO nerfs his pressure game...So basically, he's higher risk and higher reward now. The only guaranteed buff I see is that he can keep pressure consistently now that he can do regular bnbs for safe jump oki anywhere on screen, but, I don't know if that's enough to help balance his riskier pressure game now. He needs either a good blockstring that isn't too risky, or the best overall damage in the game...and so far it seems like he has neither :/. Hopefully sonic punch has good frames on block, cause that seems to be his only hope for solid pressure with minimal risk.

Definitely agree. In the end, it's all about who ya like the most lol.

I'd honestly say Yu is the best for learning the game. He's pretty damn easy to start using, not to mention he teaches all the fundamentals well.

Having a Hard Time Adjusting to this Game

I find the game easier than BB. It's easier tech skill wise, but, the actual fighting is more difficult since the pace is fast and you have to be constantly reading and hit confirming etc. Though, I feel like this is the best buffer system I've played in any fighting game.

True say...though, the auto combo makes it all the more annoying. I'm gonna be honest and say I didn't see auto combo mashing coming cause of watching too many high level Japanese vids LOL. It's actually not a big deal...but, P4A uses delay based netcode instead of rollback based; so it's hard to be reactive as nuts. I have to say though, the online is the next best thing after GGPO. Reminds me of BBCT days. Also, the game is FUN AS FUUUUUCK. It's like all that I wanted in a fighta :').

Lmfao man, so many spammers online; it's ridiculous and hilarious at the same time. You can literally just stand in place and the opponent will keep pressing 2A/5A...I tested it out and it's funny as hell. Can't wait till 3 months down the road for less silliness.

[CP] News & Gameplay Discussion (Old)

As much as I praise P4A for its mechanics, BB will always have a special place in my heart <3. Felt shafted when BBCSEX came out without little changes and at full price, which stopped me from playing BB. Used to fiend BB like nuts as well. Welp, I'm definitely going to get BB3 out of obligation! Hopefully, they've made good changes to the system.

I'm saying it has more focus on fundamentals than BB does. I love the BB engine, but, P4A uses BB's engine with better implementation of fundamentals cause of the mechanics of the game.

It's exactly what Skye said. More fundamentally sound than BB, in a sense that it's more grounded in fighter fundamentals. It's well balanced (aside from Naoto infinite) as well. It's also very easy to get into, yet, it still retains mad depth. I'm not even hyped about the fact that it's Persona; more like hyped about the fact that the engine is amazing and has a deeper focus in fighter fundamentals. It has more focus on cross-ups, cross-unders, pokes, throws, oki game, anti-airs, DPs, overheads, and footsies than Arcsys's previous fighters. Yes, I love fundamentals that much thanks to SF3/SF4 LOL. Aside from my fundamentals praise, the game has the flair of Arcsys fighters in that it's unique as hell and flashy. I've never played a Persona game, yet, this is the fighter I've been waiting a long time for. There's a ton of footage to show, but, it's useless if you don't have your eyes on a character you're interested in watching. Check the challenge combos of each character in the game http://www.dustloop.com/forums/content.php?407-P4U-Challenge-Mode-Combo-Videos then we can find you some cool footage of them in action.

Would there be some publication of a P4A guide/handbook like the Bradygames stuff on SFxT/SF4? Wait, did BB had one? Time to google.....
